Import of existing in using Dreamweaver Web site

What is the good method to download an existing Web site and import it into DW where all image links, CSS, etc. working properly?

I downloaded a website available via Filezilla on my hard drive.  DW, I went to manage Sites > New and browsed the site.  When I open the index.html page in DW, images, and links are not bind properly.  When I download it to a folder of test on my server (e.g. www.soleproductions.com/happykids/), if I click on a navigation link, it takes me to www.soleproductions.com/bouncers.index.html instead of www.solproductions.com/happykids/bouncers.html.

I also tried to create a new site with site management, set the FTP in DW and connect to the computer remote and 'GET' the Web site files to download to my hard drive.  Same results.

I even tried to create a new Site in DW, open windows Explorer and drag and drop in DW, but that has not worked as well.

I've recently spent Golive to DW and am still learning the differences on how to do what I know how to do in GoLive.

Thank you

Michael

You need to change all the links that were previously created. You can do this manually, or let the DW to do this for you. Start with the original files in the root of the local site. Create the happy children subdirectory. Then in the DW file panel, move the files from the root to the subdirectory. DW invites you to update the links.

I have a few sites that I created in DW, with style sheets, etc and I would convert them into a site of Muse. Is this possible? Or do I have to create each Muse site from scratch?

    Hello

Muse does not support the HTML/CSS/Javascript for the moment. You can open .muse extension in muse, but you can export you Muse site in html format.

  • Conversion of a MS Expression Studio Dreamweaver Web site

My website, www.mrelativity.net was designed by me in 2002 using MS FrontPage.  Over the years I updated to the latest software of design site Web MS ending by the current Expression MS s Studio Microsoft no longer supports any of these applications to Web site design.  It would be easy to convert my site must be hosted on a windows server to a Dreamweaver Web site?  And, is the Dreamweaver application similar to the MS Expression Studio in use, or I have to go through a process of training all along.  Note: The content of the Web site would not change.

Are there web sites designers that make these kinds of conversions, and if so, what would be the cost?  In the latter case, please understand that, in the end, I must be able to manage and update the website myself, without any additional help.

I don't sugar coat everything.  DW assume you have at least a rudimentary knowledge of the basics of design & web code in HTML, CSS, and to a lesser extent JavaScript.   The GUI in DW to do many things without even looking at the code.  But for the advanced features, you need to work with the code from time to time.

SERVERS: DW does not care that you use the servers.  For static HTML files, it is not much either.

    • Win plans of IIs costs slightly more than Linux.
    • Win has a panel of Plesk IIs.  Linux has a C-Panel.
    • Win IIs supports ASP.net code while Linux supports PHP code.

FTP: DW can FTP the files to your server remotely on your local hard drive, & vice versa.

Simply define a Site going on Site > new Site. Say DW where you want to store your files from local site. Example: C:\yourSiteName.

Under servers, enter your FTP credentials & root directory (this varies depending on the provider).

  • My dreamweaver Web site page no longer appears in MS Word

After using word to do a bit of my edition as well as the creation of the text, will not save a particular web page.  What has caused this?

I have always used the Word edit html from dreamweaver.  Dreamweaver is ideal for laying on a Web site, but is a bad word processor and text editor.  I was, in fact, able to solve my problem and after renamed it my file has been able to set up the stray file.  -Thanks for your contribution!  -Jerry Gibson

  • How can I put a Blog on a Dreamweaver Web site?

    Hello

OK basically, Im setting up a website for a friend using Dreamweaver, however it is not have Dreamweaver and once the site is up, he would like to be able to update the 'News' page itself, and I want it to fit the Web site as aposed to be a seprate blog page. I would like something similar to the blog page on http://www.grizzly-bear.net so it blends with the site (hopefully, you get what im say). So I guess the best way to do this would be to put up with a blog and then (somehow?) put the blog article in a section of the Web site? im sorry no need to technically jargon.

Simply put ideas how to allow someone else to update the text in the "News" section without dreamweaver? any suggestions would be greatly apreciated, keep it as simple as possible as Im a bit of a beginner, even though id say im reasonably competent in dreamweaver.

    Thank you very much!!

Yes, the solution I found was exactly how you described using Blogger, then Feedburner Buzzboost and by adjusting the CSS to fit with the rest of the site. I certainly found the simplest and easiest way to do it and it strongly suggests as a solution. Im just now to find the CSS code to get rid of the blog as a link title.

  • Browser Konqueror for Linux has a CPU limitation function useful for Web sites using Flash content. You can add such a feature in Firefox?

I recently discovered that browser Konqueror for Linux can help the user to limit the CPU usage while visiting a Web site using flash technology by changing the settings in the Flash section and by adjusting the slider settings VERY HIGH to HIGH and AVERAGE and so on. It actually works and it doesn't have a direct impact on the overall performance for flash player, but it can lead to conflicts if other such extensions that add blocker or click-to-flash are also enabled.

Maybe you can add a similar setting in Firefox in the browser or just as a useful addon or extension option section.

    Hi Michael,
I love the sound of that. I found an add on which has Visual for the CPU usage as well as can be useful

Topic: memory page also contains a detailed report that breaks down each process that occupies this space. I wonder if it is a supplement that taps by limiting these

  • Using Dreamweaver with site put in place. Local and remote server

    Hello

I just dreamweaver cs6 and I have problems with the management of the site.

So far, I used dreamweaver cs3 and when you set up a new site, the site definition had the local Info category and separate remote info.

Now on CS6 I can't set up individually to the same site, it does not give the option, it's one or the other which he does not work for me if I want to test a page locally, through preview on the browser, otherwise it will download to the server if I choose FTP. If I choose only local then I lose all ftp settings and once I did the test it will not upload to the server.

Certainly there must be a work around this or something Im doing wrong, but I do not understand what it is

There is no need to uncheck remote and testing. Previewing locally should work exactly as it did in CS3.

You use a language on the server side? If so, expand the files Panel by clicking this icon:

Then, make sure that the test server icon is selected.

  • Can ACPE use my Web site files created on dreamweaver 2004?

I have a site that I created on dreamweaver 2004.  I changed my computer and the drive is outdated (no way to register it more), so I was wondering if I bought dreamweaver cc, are my old compatible files?

HTML is still HTML, editable in any code editor.  But MUCH has changed in the web since 2004 standards.  DW MX generated code was beautiful in its time, but it was very long ago.

You can download a 30 day trial without risk of DW CC.  Do not forget that this product assumes that you know the HTML and CSS code.

  • How to import an existing another host in new site blog Muse?

Hi, I'm makeover my current site (provided by Weebly) in order to be aboard Business Catalyst by way of Muse. I have a blog that goes back a few years. How to import? Thanks in advance! \

[Moved from the lounge all Adobe forum to a specific support by product - Mod forum]

    Simple answer: you can't.

Muse is not a blog engine. You can use blog engine Business Catalyst, but you would not be able to simply import your old items. You will need to enter in copy and paste.

Currently using the trial version of dreamweaver cs5 and would like to see my work done online. I tried using the ftp go daddy customer and a 3rd party ftp client just to be sure but the when I go to the site it looks like only the code is downloaded without the css and other files attached to it. Can anyone help? Below is a link to my site.

Yes, you can do everything with the trial version you can do with the purchased version. The only difference is that the trial will stop working

After 30 days unless you purchase and enter a code to activate it.

Have you selected all of the files in the files Panel and then clicked on was able to download? or just the index file?
