Import Wab.exe from windows xp to windows 7

I have rcv had a response from microsoft after more than a week, but the answer was incomplete and left me in the lurch at a critical point towards the end (I think it was towards the end?).  I would like help on how to transfer my old file wab.exe of Windows XP to my new file wab.exe of Windows 7.  Apparently, the format of the 'contact' has changed, while I had to pay the LUXURY of owning even my old program "Windows Explorer", I'm not sure even that would have been enough to do the import.  (But what a parody that I can access is no longer my old program 'Windows Explorer' confidence.  I don't know that I prevailed over it at least once a day in the past.  It was so easy to click on a file/program and simply copy it with a single click to another file or program!  Unfortunately... is no longer!  And MS has no remorse!  They plunged it took off by saying: "you should be familiar with the new ' experience").»»»

I downloaded Windows Live Mail and click on the import button and attampted to select the Windows address book... that MS suggested.  First problem arises when there is no "Windows address book", so I clicked on "Outlook Express".  I did finally access my old file of wab my disk in drive D and imported in the "Downloads" folder, as stated by Mrs.  This is where the instructions completely stopped, and I was obviously unprepared to pass to the right conclusion.  He has never worked for me.

I really appreciate a down-to-Earth, low key, help in bringing my old address book in Windows XP (wap.exe) file in my new Win7.  Thanks in advance!

Ralph

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    > I've recently started using Windows Live Mail...

If you already used WLM, and you already have setup one account there, then on the left side, folder list, do scroll down to find the storage folder > under which is the imported folder. This is where all your WM mails are stored.

In your new WLM account, create sub folders with names corresponding to mails in WM.

You can then either use the drag and drop, or the Move To option, and messages from transfer of file imported back to your newly created in WLM subfolders.

Only those e-mails in the Inbox and the old sent box, etc., may be imported.

If the eml files will not import, you can create a new folder in WLM, and then drag the eml files from the folder above to incorporate them into the folder.  Make sure that you back up your messages also.

  • Installed windows 7 and windows live mail. now I want to import my messages from windows mail, and they will not matter. I really need the messages because they have a lot of important information in them.

Would be really happy for any help.  The application tells me that they have been moved to the storage area, but they are not there.

    Help.

Is your username mentioned in the tab security for storage files and all subfolders, and has 'full control '?

If these files are really empty then the transfer/import routine failed for some unknown (to me) reason.

Have you tried to copy all old messages from the Windows.old folder, put in a file in your user name for example Documents and then import from there?   It is perhaps necessary to remove to another location in the current storage folder in Windows Live Mail rather than simply delete before rerunning the import program.

Have you tried to temporarily disable your anti program virus and other security programs to see if that blocks emails appear?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  First try checking not be (read-only) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If this is the case, start by checking the two boxes, in no other rerun.

    Thank you
    ~ Nav

Shouldn't be any problem with that. The APEX is a backward compatibility, so import you between facilities with the same version or an earlier version to the latest, but not a later version to a previous one.

APEX is also essentially independent of the platform running in the Oracle DB rather than the operating system. The main thing to avoid here is the use of any platform or specific features of the browser like ActiveX controls in your applications, or the use of DB features that are not available in the target DB version/edition.

    Hi John Chan Sze Chun,.

Windows Mail records records of discussion groups and settings of your email account, in its own storage folder. By default, this folder is placed on drive C, your user name in the directory AppData\Local\Microsoft\ Windows Mail.

In vista and windows 7, the path is C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows mail storage folder.

Try a manual import in Windows Live Mail and check if that helps:

    a. open Windows Live Mail.

    b. in Windows Live Mail, click file on the menu bar, import and Messages.

Try converting the MP3 to WMA format before
    import into Movie Maker.

There are to many converters available on the net...
the following freeware converter is an example:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Sothink Free Video Converter

    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

You will need to unzip the file... or you could just drag
the Setup.exe from the file out of the folder and drop it on your
    desktop and install from there.

Once installed...drag/drop your audio files on the Sothink
icon to start the program. Then, in the encoding settings...
Choose... Generic Audio / WMA Audio (*.wma).

Choose an output folder and on the left, click on the button convert.

You can experiment with other settings later but

It is recommended to always update your version of Outlook directly after installation to take care of any question of incompatibility which have been corrected.

  • Problem importing email files from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail. Not all the imported outlook express folders are visible

I followed your instructions and now have "storage folders" visible. However that a single user account recorded message records showing if you keep double clicking and scrolling down. There are 3 other user accounts whose records are not visible. I tried as well by importing and using Windows Easy Transfer for all alphanumeric codes in Outlook Express. I signed into Live Mail using the other our of the user, but this does not solve the problem... Please tell us how to transfer files from my old computer Windows XP to the new W7 mail.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

V-2011: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

For WLMail 2011: Switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

Installed Windows 7 on a laptop last night.
