importation of RAW

All of a sudden my LR CC stopped to let me import my d 70 .t Canon RAW (CR2) has been working just fine 10 minutes ago... I've been using this together for almost 2 years... What's new?Screen Shot 2016-01-17 at 7.48.00 PM.png

"cannot be read" is almost always a problem of permission to WRITE to the destination folder.

In the import dialog box, verify the Destination panel to make sure that the destination folder is what you want and correctly spelt.

Then using Finder or Explorer, go to the destination folder and verify that this folder and the folder parent gives you access for READING and WRITING.

I'm not an apple person.  I read on a few different forums that apple has changed what is called 'writing' in a recent update to apple.  You may need to find an Apple expert to show you how to make sure you are allowed to write to files or locations on your computer.

  • Impossible to import the raw files from canon g16 in lightroom 4

I have a new Canon g16 and can't import raw files into my lightroom 4.  I downloaded the recommended dng converter (canon g16 was one of the devices listed on the support list) and I always get the error message on lightroom being impossible to import and raw riles the g16.  When I checked for software updates, it says there is none - that my lightroom software 4 was "aware".  Does this mean I have to buy lightroom 5 or 6?

    Hi kerryem,

Canon 16 G has been initially supported by Lightroom 5.2.See devices supported by Adobe Camera Raw

Please switch to Lightroom latest version 6 to be able to process raw images from new cameras.

Alternatively, you can use the DNG Converter to convwert G16 raw to DNG files and then import them into Lightroom 4. see help Photoshop | Digital negative converter Adobe 9.x

  • 5 Lightroom can't read and import the raw file

I can't import my RAW files from my Nikon D750. When I try to import my SD card, I am able to see the preview, but when I try to import, I get a window that reads "the following files were imported not because they could not be read. I haven't changed anything on my camera on the LR5 parameters settings and this happened just today. I am able to transfer the files on my desk at the moment, but I can't yet import from there. I also tried reformatting the card and even tried another card so I don't think that the problem is the card or the device itself. I also do not seem to see updates that I need. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As noted of Claes, it is almost certainly a problem with your destination set wrong in the import Panel. This happens quite easily. You get the error message is almost always due to the destination without folder do not write access. Really check your destination. This should NOT be the root of your startup for example disk level and for some reason any sometimes default Lightroom at this place and then refuses to import because the OS refuses to let you write here.

  • After almost a year of working great, my Lightroom doesn't is more afford to import the RAW of Nikon 7200 images. I upgraded to Lightroom 6.3 and which did not help. What can I do?

After almost a year of working great, my Lightroom doesn't is more afford to import the RAW of Nikon 7200 images. I upgraded to Lightroom 6.3 and which did not help. What can I do?

Seems to be a problem with the destination location.

Try changing the location of destination at the top on the right under 'FOR' pictures folder or any other location on your local hard drive.

  • Photoshop Cs3 using windows XP tries to import the raw files from Canon 550 d.

I get this message when you try to import the raw files from my canon 550 d. I use Photoshop CS3 on windows XP. I tried to download updates, but this does not seem to solve the problem? Any advice on how to fix it? downloaded 4.6 as advised, but it did not work!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Claire

Definitely. You need the version 5.7, which is only for CS4.

You need a DNG Converter, but since you're running XP, it will be the 8.3 DNG Converter

  • Why red spots appear on my photo when I import a RAW image in the RAW dialog box?

I just downloaded 13 items.  When I import a RAW image in the RAW dialog box, large red spots appear on the image, before you do anything.  I can't get rid of them, and restart the program has no effect.  I did not have this problem with 11 elements.  Thanks for any input.

You probably have the highlight clipping warning

Press O on the keyboard or click the triangle shown in the screenshot below to turn it off.

    Alexandra,

The downloader of elements module does not provide an option to filter the files imported by their type (jpg or raw). You can filter only the videos photos. I'm agree it would be an asset!

    What you can do instead:

-use your operating system (Explorer / finder) to import files to your computer via your card reader: you can order your files to import extension (jpg, CR2, NEF,...) and select the raw files. Then use the function "Import" elements to import from "Files and folders" (which "registers" files in the catalog).

    - Or you can use the download of standard element and remove JPEG files later. Not very elegant, but it works.

    - Or you can use the function "Import" elements and choose in "Files and folders" instead of card reader or the camera, then go to the card reader. The card reader is considered to be a separate drive. You can select only the raws in the import dialog box by setting the order of the files in the file (CR2, NEF...) instead of file name extension. You select the first item, then shift click the last one. Only the raws are selected. Now, pay attention to have the box 'Copy' the o files. Otherwise, the elements would consider your photos on a removable drive. The photo files will be copied to your computer in a special subfolder 'photo of removable drives.

  • New to Lightroom, import of raw CR2 files problem.

I am new to Lightroom and can't import my raw CR2 photo files. In the section "import", I select my SD card that contains the raw image files. All the map .jpeg files appear as thumbnails, but the CR2 files show "extract not available for this file. I select one of the thumbnails CR2 anyway, select a folder on my external hard drive and click on "import". A window pops up that says: "this file is not recognized by the format of raw support in Lightroom." I use Lightroom 4.4 and works with a Windows Vista operating system (on a laptop old, junky). My camera is a Canon 70 d and am shooting in RAW + JPEG. I also downloaded the Adobe software. DNG Converter 6.3 to try to convert the files before importing them into Lightroom and it is also not recognizing and import my CR2 files. Don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

I would recommend download DNG Converter 8.2 which is compatible with Vista.

The latest version 8.6 requires W7 and W8

  • Lightroom 5 import of raw files

I can't import the raw files from my Nikon D7100.  There is a plug-in to allow this, but I can't find where it is installed.  Can anyone help?  My version of the LR5 is up-to-date.  I use a Mac OS 10.8 and installed LR5 yesterday from a download from Adobe.  I can imprt raw files from my Nikon D80, but not the D7100.  The files are all on my hard drive.

No plug-in is required to import a D7100 Nikon RAW files into LR5.

However, if you used some versions of Nikon software to move the camera pictures to a hard drive, this can be interfering then causing LR to not recognize the photos. The solution is to import directly from plug camera into Lightroom (if the photos are still on the card of the camera), or if not try http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html

  • importation of raw files show as jpg

Since the update to Lightroom2 (currently 2.6), every time I have import a RAW file from iPhoto - selection to leave the photo in it's original location - it shows as a .jpg file, once it is imported into Lightroom 2.  With Lightroom 1 she would incorporate as a RAW file.  Is there a setting I need to select to avoid that Lightroom automatically convert my RAW files in JPG format to import?

How do you import from iPhoto? iPhoto likes to hide its RAW files more deep layers in a hidden directory. If you just drag on the images, iPhoto will send links to JPEGs. This is especially true if you have made any changes in iPhoto. What you need to do is just (or control) click on the files in iPhoto and select Show in Finder, and then import the RAW files, that you see in the finder window that opens. Better yet is to forget completely about iPhoto.

  • How to delete imported photos raw files?

    Hello everyone,

I imported via a usb cable for my 700 d canon pictures photos app (yosemite of macbook air)

usually, I shoot jpeg + CR2 (so later I can adjust if necessary) and the photos app both imported (automatically) (although CR2 is the canon raw file format)

I discovered that my photo library is now 15 GB causes of all imported... raw files while I wanted to import only jpeg

How to remove raw (CR2) files?

apparently if you delete the photo the cr2 file remains in the library, no way to separate or to cancel the two... an idea?

    TKS!

When I import RAW + JPEG pairs to my library of Photos, Photos show the pair as a single picture. When I delete this single photo, both the RAW and JPEG are removed from the record masters in the library of Photos after I empty the album recently deleted.

  • 5 Lightroom [impossible to import the Raw of Canon T6s files]

How to import images into Lightroom 5? I use canon t6s.

If you talk to import raw images from this camera then you will need to switch to Lightroom 6 or the latest DNG converter allows to create copies DNG that you can open in Lightroom 5. There will be no updates Lightroom 5. The camera is too recent to be supported by any version of Lightroom 5.

  • Will not import the Raw files after...

My MacBook Pro has a large part of this memory maximum... To free up space that I deleted some of the LR (Version 6.5 Camera Raw 9.5) keep on your computer to work with smaller files...

Now, I wanted to go back and import some of the original RAW files from an external hard drive and LR does not recognize or products are imported...

What I so can't do this solves so I can work with the... original RAW files?

You cannot correct the error "file not found" by importing. It's 100 percent the wrong thing to do in this situation.

You must reconnect the photos in Lightroom by following the instructions here: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing
