Importing files photo keeping files in existing folders.

Photoshop Elements 6

Windows 7, 64-bit

All the images in folders and subfolders on the hard drive.

New instalation of Photoshop Elements 6

I can import all photo files, but they do not appear in the records.

How can I import and retain current orginzation?

Or do I have to reorganize?

Thanks for your help.

To switch to the folder view, use the display of the menu (top-right) and choose the location of the folder. Or use the shortcut Ctrl Alt 3.

The organizer of elements (any version) does not alter the location of the files in your folders. It saves only the locations in its database.

Or do I have to reorganize?

Not necessary, you can leave your picture files where they are now, like most of the users of organizers. To organize logically, not physically, better use of all the tools like tags, albums, batteries, games version... They do not change the location of your files in folders.

I'm running 10 EP on my Windows 7 laptop that I bought not long ago and have a good storage size of digital photos that is already on my server.

I want to import the files from the server to the local disk.  The server stores the images in

    < Server > / photos/Photo/yyyy/mm/dd

While EP 10 stores only in folders labeled as 'yyyy mm dd '.

I want to save them on the hard drive of the laptop is accessible, even if the server is not (like when I'm not at home).

So far, it does not matter really files, adds only in the catalog pointing to the location of the server.  It doesn't matter if the "copy of the files to Import" is checked or not (and 9 times out of 10, once I click on something, it becomes disabled and is not activated again the object).  She also does when I copy the files (in the format dd/mm/yyyy) of the server on my local machine (Public shared location).

The only way that I can get "Import" is in fact if it is a digital camera.  The same for the use of Windows' import. Unfortunately, it is much more that can fit in my SD cards.

I'm doing something wrong?  10 PE could not import files?

This is the name of a folder? Who will be in a file name in your file system. Given his situation, is it possible or likely that the total path length exceeds the limit of the operating system?

    For example: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/file-names-extensions-faq#1TC=windows-7

This is not to talk about any other limit which may be inherent in the way that Thunderbird uses names of files internally.

In your position, I explore the Thunderbird profile and check paths, as they appear in the file manager. You should be able to remove all folders that are unwanted here also.

  • I imported the photos "in a file" instead of "Date".

I imported the photos into Lr and the area has been verified "in a file" instead of "Date" in error.

The pictures are in Lr but do not appear in the list of file folder in my folder of Photos with Lightroom.

I've sorted, edited, scored and code color them. This train of about 500 photos.

Is it possible that I can change the setting of these photos so they apprear as 'Date' in my folder of Photos with Lightroom?

Of course, in Lightroom creates the folder desired to the desired location (click the plus sign to the right of the word files +), then also in Lightroom, select all of the photos and drag them to the folder newly created in the folder Panel

When I copy and paste a piece of another PDF file or HAVE, the layers were always reoganized. Most gone sublayer include their names, resulting in several layers and less organized. • Importing files in Lightroom

I recently put updated since CS2 to LightroomCC and PhotoshopCC at the same time, I bought a new computer with an operating system. While trying to import files photo from my old computer to a memory stick in Lightroom on my new computer, the files were completely scrambled in Lightroom and organized by dates rather than as I had them grouped him and identified as projects in separate files. So the photos of my son are mixed with my photography book images fine art which are scrambled upward with my creations of cards etc. Is it possible to import these files into Lightroom in which they translate exactly as I threw them on my old computer?

You cannot use ADD when files are on a removable disk as your memory stick.

You can (using your operating system) copy the files on your hard drive in any structure of folders that you want them to be and then using Lightroom Import using Add to keep this folder structure.

  • import files created by lightroom ghosts 5

PROBLEM 5 Lightroom Import creates folders 'ghosts '. Apparently a database problem, but passes a Lr test ok integrity.

    When I import the photos to C:\users\Wes\Wes Photo Files\2013\Canada & U.S..,.

Lightroom will CREATE a 'ghost' 'C:\users\Wes\Wes Photo Files\Canada & USA' folder in the folder view and add photos to this folder does not exist!snip lightroom folders Aug 13.JPG

This happened several times - on the different Destination Folders.

If you respond to this problem, please note that I have made the following:

1 checked my import settings - certainly correct and 'Union' has the value 'in a folder.

    2. run "On the catalog integrity Test" before the opening of Lr and when you save before closing.

    3. I tried to 'Synchronize' folder running but did not like it wants to import 818 photos! (this is the number of files in the folder 'Canada & USA' real).

    4. when I try to "Show Parent folder" this database error is reported:

    snip parent folder Aug 13.JPG

    5. If I try to move the files to the phantom in the actual file, it reports "the file already exists at the destination.

    6. I restored a backup copy of previous lrcat file, but the same problem occurs.

    7. I ran chkdsk on C: - no errors and run a registry cleanup - there is problem.

' 8 as a work-around, can I move files from the ghost of '2013 TEMP' and then again ' 2013 TEMP move "toward the desired direction 2013" Canada & USA ".

  • is it possible to see EVERY folder and file that exists on the drive hard on one screen and in one place just as you could do in much older versions.

OK... so I had an accident and there was good and bad news... the good news is that I was able to get it started and running "Save", but the bad news is that instead of giving a new image system clean (as I expected), I had a bunch of random pictures and other unimportant things and many important things seems lost but I think that its still all somewhere.

now... to the front sometimes there was a windows program called "windows explorer" that would put all folders and all files that was on the hard drive on a single screen, and you can search through them.    When I shoot to the top of the Explorer windows on win 7, I get a page with a bunch of files minor that some things in them, but not what I see already...

so... my question is simply "is it possible to see EACH file and a file that exists on the drive hard on one screen and in one place just as you do in earlier versions.    I did some research and went thru records that he will show me but I explicitly want is to see EACH file and folder that exists on one screen...

is it possible in win 7?   and if so, how, please

    Steven

    Steve,

Are you talking about the Windows Search function?

In Windows Explorer, open the top-level folder that you want to watch in [C:\Users\yourusername\Documents or whatever it is you want] then look in the upper right area - there is a white box to the right of the address bar.  This is the search box.  Type * and then pause and it lists all the files in this top-level folder down through its subfolders.

  • Need help with importing files

Hi, I recently installed CC on Mac. I've already used on PC and I copied my Lightroom Catalog Previews etc. for Mac. I have also reformatted my hard drive with exFat. I imported the files into lightroom. Now, when I look at photos editing in Lightroom it says that my files are missing. What have I missed? Thank you!

I don't know why you get the message you found... but... you are NOT importing the photos on your new computer. The procedure to follow is that you copy the file to catalog from the PC to the Mac, open the catalog file in Lightroom (file-> open the catalog) and then reconnect the photos in Lightroom there instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

  • Question about importing files too...

... I think I have to change my approach and import files of the files sampled only, as the way in which my LR is now, he grabs pictures of office, and is about 30 thousand images!

the thing is - if I can import all the pictures, but then I add a new photo on your desktop (for example something saved from the internet), I don't see a way to add THIS unique import photo. LR does not seem to "see".

Also, is there a way to search for a file to develop in the middle of thousands of photos?   I don't see a search feature that I could use for this.

I think I have to change my approach and import files of the files sampled only, as the way in which my LR is now, he grabs pictures of office, and is about 30 thousand images!

When you import, you can select specific import folders, it is on the left side of the dialog box to import to the title of the Source. If you don't want all the 30 000 images, you can first start by selecting file-> new catalog, and then import specific folders.

If I have to import all the photos of these, but then I add a new photo to the desktop (for example something rescued from the internet), I don't see a way to add THIS unique import picture. LR does not seem to "see".

What is this new picture file type? Only certain file types can be imported into Lightroom, this is. JPG. TIF. PSD. DNG. PNG and photos more BULLIES.

Also, is there a way to search for a file to develop in the middle of thousands of photos?   I don't see a search feature that I could use for this.

It is one of the strengths of Lightroom, there are approximately 12 zillion and 35 different ways to search. For example, you can enable the filter bar (view-> display filter bar), and then select the photos by file name or by keyword and many other criteria.

What is the destination folder that the date be underneath?  In the top right it says users who suggests, you try to put the photos on top of your username instead of under your username.  Maybe that's the problem.  So change your folder in the drop-down list at the bottom right of what it should be rather than users, and if you're going to show us the destination of your photos at least scroll through the list of folders down right so that we can see which is the white highlight.

Here is how mine looks like if I want to put my photos imported under my subfolder users - Steve - photos by date:

  • CS6 error importing file

    MAC PRO 2 x 2.93 GHz 6 Core

    12 GB 1333 DDR3 Ram MJZ

    Kona card 3

    Graphics Quadro 4000 card

    Video player Apple XServe raid

    more 2 TB G-raid & 3, 7200 RPM internal 2 TB disks

    10.7.4 OS

    CS6.0.1.31

I ran into this "import file error" several times since the installation of the PP update and new pilots AJA for CS6.

The message tells me that the file is an unsupported format or it is damaged.  These files will be open if I keep trying and they will also open in QT player and in After Effects and finally in PP.

Also when I open an existing project I always get a dialog box:

"The"scratch disks"is write protected or unavailable.  To open this project, the "scratch disks" will be set to your documents folder.  Do you want to continue?

    second dialog appears

"The project could not be loaded.  It may be damaged or contain obsolete items.

    Then another:

    "Video filter missing."

    "AE_A7D2C2A2-6AB7-4551 - 84A 6 - 45830F6ADF3C.

If I try the project a coupl.e of time usually will open, displaying the dialog box first and third, but not the second saying that it is damaged.

Of course, none of the scrazttch discs are locked.

    Problem #3

Yesterday all day can make clips or timeline.  Today, I've repaired permissions and now seem to be wheat to return.

    Problem #4

Sent in unreturned scenario Media encode, hoping the Media Encoder would be able to make and it just locked up with no encodes.

I deleted the files and now Media encode seems to work.

Something very current Hinkey.  Anyone has any ideas or solutions to prevent this from happening in the future.

    Thank you... Jim Watt

Problem 1: What kind of file (s) you are trying to import when you get the error?

Problem 2: Disk previous scartch was setting pointing to a drive that is not available on your current system? If so, open the project, and then manually replace the drive working whiver drive/directory you want... Or just accept the default.

Problem 3: Happy that worked... isn't that deny the problem 4?

Problem 4: Timeline and rendering export are two different things. They are not directly related, so an export will not make the timelien for you. You did the right thing to remove your existing preview files. It is always a good thing to do after the upgrade of old projects to current versions. In addition, it allows to save a lot of storage space if you do this whenever you're "done" with a project.

  • Can not see tree structure of file to import files in LR3

I was importing files in LR3 for a few weeks without any difficulty.  Today, when you try to import files I see more files in the pictures folder tree, but the structure of the hard disk (C: and including the following folders: Legacy, Perflogs, Program Files, Program Files (x 86) and Windows.)  How can I see the photo folder structure in the Source Panel?  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled LR3.

The images of you folder is located in the users folder that appears marked as hidden. Lightroom does not show the files hidden in the tree. You see the users folder in the Explorer? It is in the root of the C: drive. If it is displayed in the Explorer, he's looking for semi-transparent?
