Imports to Lightroom even my vertical horizontal photos!

Well, the title says it all. When I import pictures directly from the camera (Canon Rebel XTi) or the card reader, it imports all the files as the horizontals, including verticals of course. Now, when they are displayed in Lightroom (1 or 2), the verticals are correctly oriented, however if I go to my pictures/somepicturefolder/and look at the real files, the vertical lines are horizontal.

Of course, this becomes quite annoying when I don't want to export all the images I import new everywhere just to guide correctly if I want to send the new files to a friend or print them. Also, if I want to turn the original good orientation vertical in the Viewer Windows images or anything else (remember, I can't rotate in lightroom because they are at the vertical as they should be when displayed in the library), it then show these files incorrectly in Lightroom, but also unsyncing metadata and all that jazz.

This can become very boring, and honestly, I have no idea why it does. My brother use and mac and when it downloads images from the camera even (which has the auto-rotation on) it displays normally for him on his computer, (Macs are always better...)

So, if it is a problem that has been posed before, I apologize, but it's very frustrating!

There is nothing that Lightroom can do about it. It is something that the camera manufacturers have standardized on. Most of the cameras that support automatic orientation store the orientation of the camera in the form of metadata, as well as your file if it is jpeg or raw. Lightroom knows this indicator and auto rotates the picture when he sees it. Most applications on the Mac are familiar with this indicator. Many apps on windows you've discovered ignore it and so they don't know they are supposed to rotate the image for display. If you want the images correctly oriented in apps that aren't aware of outside of Lightroom rotation indicator, you need to export.

    Hello

I have a problem with importing the photos a few months. Lightroom import photos with a tilt, randomly. You can see a few examples below. I can't fix with the tool from lightroom without lost of my picture.

I use a pc running windows 7. I try different versions of Lightroom (4 and 5). I delete the photos and I re - import. In fact, I have the 5.7.1 version of lightroom. When I use another app to view photos (picasa or other), there is no problem. This problem will appear approximately in November 2014. I guess (I'm not sure) after changing the lightroom version (5.5-> 5.6). I have always used the same camera, a sony rx100.

It's really a problem for my panorama!

If someone has an idea, it will be great!

Thank you for reading this message. I apologize for my bad English

It is unlikely that either recorded in a processing defect, or included in a "Preset" called import, or otherwise, you have "Vertical" lit.

It is in the Panel of correction lenses - Basic tab. It is analyzing the contents of each picture and evaluate what he thinks may be a horizon of a coherent perspective / vertical / flatness (there are a few options for how it then corrects the image in response to this).

To check which of the above two possibilities is the case: you can make a virtual copy of an image and then reset it. If the image shows still turned in this same way, then standing is active in the default treatment that apply to this particular image. If standing had been arrested in these default values, then Reset would have stopped it for this photo. Uncheck standing and then re-save the default processing.

If when reset, the image of straightening / rotation does NOT - then it's probably a develop preset that you use when importing, or subsequently. When you manually apply this setting, the image goes as shown: you have confirmed this preset to be "at fault". Update of this preset, unchecking standing. When used on the new images below, this vertical analysis and correction will not be made.

Vertical is IMO something you are likely to want to frame-by-frame, if necessary - and do not occur in all areas. But the lens profile and correction of CA CAN apply by default, without bad effects, in my experience.

It looks like you can be pretty new to Lightroom.  If this is the case, you will find Victoria Bampton useful books:

I recently had to rebuild the computer and reinstalled the photos.  I have photos imported into Lightroom, but the parameters associated with the photos, that is to say. When they were developed, are not there.  How to import these?

Default LR stores all changes in the catalog file, not in the pictures. So if you have a backup of your original catalog you will need to copy on the newly rebuilt system and open it in LR. You will then need to recreate a link to the images in the catalog depending on where are your images and where the original LR catalogue think they are.

Recovery of DNG issue: I have photos stored on an external hard drive which have previously been imported into Lightroom and converted to DNG.  The laptop on which I was running Lightroom died and I had to replace the hard drive and rebuild the computer.  In the process of my Lightroom program and catalog related to these images have been lost.  When I re-associate these photos with my new installation of Lightroom and a new catalogue is there a way to retrieve the keywords or other changes or metadata catalogue Mountaga?  Is any of this information embedded with the imge DNG file or was it only in the cataloght lost on my failing hard drive? I re-import just as if it were new images with no prior treatment of Lightroom?

By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

    Hope this makes things clearer.

For some reason, does not recognize my Lightroom (Mac) 5 images in folders on my Mac I have edited in Photoshop Elements or perfect 8 effects. If I have previously imported images in a specific folder, Lightroom will show these images grayed (as usual), but will not display other images I've saved later in this file. Similarly, if I, say, select three images in Lightroom to use the option of Photomerge in elements, later saved image will not be recognized by Lightroom.

I tried to move locations, record under I don't know how many different formats etc., but the problem persists. No problem importing existing images to SD card or old files on the computer.

Also, when you say that you drag the image from your desktop and LR opens, but the image does not appear, what appears? You have enabled filters (if so, please disable filters with Ctrl-L once or twice and see if the photo appears.

Uninstalling and reinstalling are a last resort and probably a waste of time at this stage.

    Hi ann-mariek,.

You have all your images to the title of the Photos App on your mac, you must export your images out of the Photos app and save it to a specific location (internal or external hard drive), now when you browse this site under Lightroom since the import window and then you would be able to import images into Lightroom.

  • Underexposed import in Lightroom.

I have RAW Nikon D750 and import to my PC using Nikon View NX2 and photos are very good. Then import into Lightroom and they go dark by about 2 stops after a few seconds and the picture is almost ruined. they look well on to other programs. Import presets are disabled and calibration of the camera is without help. Any suggestions?

Yes, active D-Lighting is the problem.

When ADL is set to 'low', all processing is done in the unit, causing no problems with third-party software.

To any one of the higher settings, half the processing of ADL is behind closed doors with the second half made in the Nikon software for post-processing. Since no third-party software reads the data from the ADL - neither knows what to do with it - result of underexposed images when not treated with the Nikon software.

  • Lightroom can open 2 different photos at the same time display side by side?

What is behind this survey is the fact that I have to directly view and compare the 2 pictures of the bird even close together in the same time and location (in a level of detail) to determine that it was certainly better.

Authorization of repairs to my most recent goal that is at stake here that I must first demonstrate the mfgr that lens is below standards and needs attention.

I want to compare a picture of the bird in question with the above goal and one I know to be reliable strong.

    Please help in this mission.

    Thank you.

    HI Nikon D90 gent II,.

YES - Lightroom TO compare 2 different photos at the same time. It also allows you to zoom in to areas and match zoom.

In the LIBRARY module, make sure that your toolbar is open under the grate.

You can press "T" on the keyboard to make it visible.

Select both images and click on the area of comparison of X Y. My arrow in red below.

The two images appears then side by side with a labeled as the "Select" and the other marked 'candidate '.

You can click and drag the Zoom slider that appears now on the toolbar to zoom for both images.

To align the images, you can click the lock in the toolbar to unlock

Click on and drag on the image to align with the other, then click on the padlock to lock in place.

Then you can zoom in easily all over the two images by using the Zoom slider at the same time for comparison.

In fact, you can click the button of "Carousel", the one with the three grey squares to the right of the X Y button on the toolbar and to compare the images of 3 or more.

TO remove an image, simply click on the X in the corner of the image, and it will be removed at the carousel compared so you can then get more unless you images.

  • An import to Lightroom means an automatic download to the creative cloud?

Hi, I am puzzled because I didn't consciously choose to download one of my photographs to cloud creative (Adobe Lightroom has sent me an email informing me that the photos are waiting for me on my mobile device). I've been working and learning with Lightroom however and through this process, I imported my photos into Lightroom. Thus, an import to Lightroom means an automatic download to the creative cloud? I'm not ready ready yet to use the CC storage for any of my files yet. If they have been uploaded - how can I access remove? Gosh, it makes me nervous as I want to be in charge... your help is much appreciated...

No, the files are not automatically sent to the creative cloud when you import them into Lightroom. In order to have images in the cloud of Adobe creative, it must create a collection in Lightroom, choose the images you want to share via Lightroom online or via Lightroom Mobile. You will have to consciously choose to share this collection before sending them to the cloud. If you have inadvertently shared a collection, it's simple stop sharing by clicking on the small icon to the left of this collection. You are in complete control of what you share and do not share in the cloud. You could take the time to watch this video. It will give you a good introduction to the functioning of Lightroom Mobile:

Lightroom CC - go Office Mobile - An Introduction to Lightroom for mobile - YouTube

If you want to see what so-called pictures are waiting for you, you can go to Lightroom.adobe.com and sign in with your Adobe ID and password. You will be able to see what, if any, the pictures you shared. I think that this message you have received is just a friendly reminder invites you to start using the feature. But I could be wrong.

  • How to display without import it, because they were already imported into lightroom 5 images on my hard drive in lightroom

I want to see the photos on my hard drive that have already been imported to lightroom.  Problem is when I open lightroom with the images that they are treated as an import and are not visible to be worked.

The 'Haze' indicates that you use the import command to display your images. You do not have it to display images or 'open' - Import is for saving the photos in the catalog/library. Therefore, close this import - dialog box there is a Cancel button.

You are now in the normal window of Lightroom. Press G to go on the grid, open the folders Panel in the library and the use of the library filter (Ctrl F on Windows or Cmf F on Mac).

El Capitan changed the permissions on the folder that you selected in the Destination dialog to import LR area. Check out what it is and then check the permissions on it. It must be set to read + write for your username.

  • Portfolio crashes when you try to build the cover page of an image imported via Lightroom sync project.

The title says it all.  While you can import images into a new project through Lightroom mobile sync when you try to create a cover image for the project, you can select one of the imported images, but when you try to apply the portfolio crashes.  The only way to go beyond this stage is to import them separately a jpeg.

Another problem with imported via Lightroom photos mobile sync, it's that the display full screen obtained by double clicking on the image in the project is not centered on being right-justified display.  There seems to be no way to change this behavior.

    How to overcome those problems?

Just tried again this morning and guess what it worked perfectly.  Only difference I can see is that Lightroom is running and who claims to be always sync when I had the problem and this morning when the problem went away Lightroom was off.  Incidentally, if you want to report bugs that you must go to the portfolio help page and ask a question.
