Impossible to change automatic update settings

For some reason, (possibly malicious, but my computer is now clean) I can't change the settings of update automatic windows.  I can open the page in the Control Panel, but the options are gray translucent and cannot be clicked.  There is a note at the top that "some settings are managed by your system administrator.  I am the administrator.  There is no reason that I would not be able to change these settings.  I currently put to tell me if there are updates so I decide to update, so it isn't a huge problem for not being able to change, but I would like to auto update of important updates.
Thank you for your help.

Hi I have in fact already MBAM and Spybot installed for general prevention, and both scans lift you own. I also have a separate account a couple of weeks to limit damage in case of infection in the future... but also in the hope, it would solve the problem. Even when I go into control panel for this account, it still prevents me from making changes. I actually posted a hijack this log on spywarehammer.com some time ago, but when I don't have an e-mail saying that he had been a response to my son, I guess no one responded. It only occurred to me to go back and check after I posted this, it turns out, I didn't just have this updated profile to me send me an email (I guess that's the default) I thought since all scans, I ran (both above and a few others on demand scanners) were clean, that the problem was in the operating system possibly left by a previous infection, I had cleaned and that I needed to talk to someone at microsoft who know how to reset it, or fix the problem, that's why the post here. I posted this response in the thread about spywarehammer, but an administrator he suggests to do some other tests anyway, which I'm currently in. I know that the forum, is virtually useful for malware, and I guess that this forum is no longer for specialized knowledge of windows and its parameters. For now, I want to finish to a good clean out of my system with the help of someone. But, given that I don't know if this problem with automatic updates is actually related to malicious software that is currently on my system, I'm not sure that the cleaning, he would give me a result, then, I know not how. It would be better to close this thread (I can post later if I still have a problem after that my system is completely clean) or to leave it open in case this happens? Or if there are some things I can try now? I apologize, he seems to be running right into things right now, and I didn't have two threads simultaneously in two different places. : S thanks for all your help.

    Hi Nicky,

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

If you want to change the time of backup runs, in the time list, check the box for every hour of the day you want your backup to run. Clear the check box for any time that you do not want Backup to run.

Select one of the following options:

    • Custom. Does not set a default time for the backup to run.

For more information see set or change automatic backup settings.

Also as you mentioned that your computer makes a noise, I suggest you check if all cables are tied up and the CPU fan is properly cleaned.

    Hi Debra,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    (a) you did it any significant hardware or changes to software on the computer before this problem?

    (b) what is the exact error message you get when installing update fails?

The question may arise if the Windows downloaded update packages are corrupt. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Try to run that Windows update utility provided in the following link.

  • ADFBC change - automatic updating using PUSH - Data Service entity Active?

    Hi all

    Jdev Version: 11.1.1.7.1

Summary of the problem: I have a table in the user interface based on a line of open readonly SQL base tickets showing VO. The queue will be worked by several people of support at the same time. So, it is ideal that the queue Auto - refreshes to collect a ticket from the table in the user interface if someone else picked up the ticket & closed. The UI is equipped with filters - so think the option is to push to an activeOutputText and then refresh the table UI using PPR.

Ofcourse Poll is an option - but am inclined to PUSH as it seems most optimal.

But the documentation around the use of live data for ADFBC is very confusing. Most of the examples out there talking about external data sources or a direct change in DB as an event in a first time - not a change of entity as an event trigger object. I have a few queries-

    1. is JMS the only way by which the changes of the entity object can be listened to or is there any other mechanism?

    2. on the binding of the tree on the definition of the page, we see ChangeEventPolicy with an option like "push." When is it useful?

    3. any good example of simple use ADFBC with live data?

    4. is my hypothesis on the af: poll be bad valid? Leave the configured push with "long-polling" is much better than a 'af:poll '.

    Thanks in advance!

    1. is JMS the only way by which the changes of the entity object can be listened to or is there any other mechanism?

I guess you can use any type of mechanism to queue, JMS is 'natural' because that is part of Java EE (so it is included in the Java EE as Weblogic servers)

    2. on the binding of the tree on the definition of the page, we see ChangeEventPolicy with an option like "push." When is it useful?

It is used in combination with the active data

    3. any good example of simple use ADFBC with live data?

    http://technology.AMIS.nl/2012/06/19/notifying-ADF-applications-of-database-changes-fast-and-lean-using-Active-data-service-for-server-to-client-push-part-two/

    4. is my hypothesis on the af: poll be bad valid? Leave the configured push with "long-polling" is much better than a 'af:poll '.

Well, that depends on the number of users, refresh rate...

But for your use case, push is probably much better than af: poll

Have you thought about putting your VO readonly to the module of the shared application (to the level of the application): Sharing of Instances of the Application Module View (this was also supported for notifications of changes unnecessary db)?

  • I can't change the settings of automatic update on

    Hi Fabrax,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.

Be you please perform a clean boot on your system to see if that helps to clarify the freezing issue that you are experiencing?

Here are the steps on how to perform a clean boot on your system:

First step: perform a clean boot

    1. sign your computer with an administrator account.

    2. click on start.

    3. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

    4. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    5. in the general tab, click Selective startup, and then click to clear the check box load startup items.

    6. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

    * NOTE: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    7. click OK and then click on restart.

Second step: enable half the services

    1. start the System Configuration utility. Refer to the steps above if you need to see how to do this.

    2. click on the Services tab and then click to select the skin all the Microsoft services checkbox.

3 click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    4. click OK and then click on restart.

Step 3: determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In the second step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services, and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to sixth step. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: enable half of the startup items

Perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

Click the Startup tab, and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

Click OK and then click on restart.

Step 5: determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In the fourth step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to sixth step.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat the first stage and the second stage without selecting the skin all the box Microsoft services at every step.

    Step 6: resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Step 7: solve the problem

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start

    2. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    4. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    5. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

Here is the KB article that came as follows:
