Impossible to get online - Spinning circle in the taskbar after login

Windows XP

Skype 6.21.60.104

Today, I turned on my computer and logged on to Skype as usual. It connects fine but will not online. I only get the circle of rotation in the taskbar.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I deleted all my anti-virus software with no luck.

My internet works fine on this computer, the only thing I have a problem with Skype.

I live in Spain and it's the only way I can keep in touch with my children back in England, so please HELP?

Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much

Rob Perry

Yes. I mean that you need to upgrade your Internet Explorer to the latest version of IE8. The latest versions of Skype will not work with IE6.

I have the Windows Vista operating system. Whenever I connect my computer, I get two pop ups on the taskbar. One is jucheck.exec and another is updates of Java.

I have no way to uncheck the premiera. I have only two options, restore or close. With java, I opened the properties and click to remove the check mark from updates, you click on apply and then clicked on ok, but he still continues to appear you have tips on how can stop these pop ups?

    Hello

I would like to inform you that Jucheck.exe is the process that runs automatically when the Java Update tool is activated. Jucheck.exe usually checks the Internet for the software updates available and invite you to install them to keep your updated program. If you prefer to search and download the Java updates manually whenever you want, disable Java Update automatic tool disables and removes Jucheck.exe

  • Impossible to get online

I reformatted my computer dell laptop and installed a new copy of windows, now I can't get online to update. I guess that the software for my wireless card no longer exists. catch 22 can't get online without card cannot fix the map except online. can I download drivers for my FlashDrive from another computor and install them on my own? If so, how?

In addition to good advice of Tricky:

    1. you may be (probably is) missing other drivers in addition to the wireless adapter (this may prevent you from using the NETWORK adapter cable to your laptop as an alternative to your connection Wi - Fi).

    2. your use of the word "updated" makes me think that you can think about using Windows Update to get drivers.  Don't, don't.  Go to the Dell helpdesk, enter the serial number of your computer and you get a link to a driver package for your device.  Read this FAQ from Dell prior to installation: How to download and install drivers in the Correct order.

  • Impossible to get online - reading HTTP/HTTPS/FTP Firewall problem

I cannot get online and diagnosis to assess the problem.

    Sorry try this first...

You can change the behavior of the Internet Connection Firewall by turning on various ICMP options, such as allow an incoming echo request, allow incoming timestamp request, allow incoming router requestand Allow redirect. Brief description of these options appear on the ICMP tab

If your network uses Internet connection sharing to provide Internet access to multiple computers, it is recommended to activate the shared Internet connection on the Internet Connection Firewall. However, you can activate the shared Internet connection and Firewall Internet connection separately. It's a good idea to enable the ICF on the Internet connection on any Microsoft Windows XP computer that is connected directly to the Internet.

Internet Connection Firewall can also help protect a single computer connected to the Internet. If you have a single computer connected to the Internet with a cable modem, a DSL modem, or a dial-up modem, Internet Connection Firewall protects your Internet connection. Do not cut the ICF for virtual private network (VPN) connections because Internet Connection Firewall interferes with file sharing and other VPN functions.

    Internal modem

To restart an internal modem, you must restart the computer. If you still experience network connectivity problems after you restart the computer, go to step 2. If you connect to the Internet using a router, there may be a problem with the configuration settings, and they must be updated. To determine if a network connectivity problem is caused by a bad configuration or a problem with the router, you can bypass the router and connect your computer directly to the modem.

Warning Connect your computer directly to the Internet may be left vulnerable to attacks. To protect the computer against attacks, make sure that a firewall is installed and that the firewall is enabled on your computer. To learn more about the Windows Firewall that is included in Windows Vista, see the "Windows Firewall" section.

    Windows Firewall

Windows Vista includes a firewall, called Windows Firewall. By default, the Windows Firewall is enabled. However, you should always check that the Windows Firewall is turned on before you connect the computer to the Internet. To verify that Windows Firewall is turned on, follow these steps:

    1. Click Startand then click Control Panel.
    2. In the search box in the upper right corner of Control Panel, type security.
    3. In the search results that appear, click the icon or the link to the Security Center. In the window that appears, you will see four bars that are titled firewall, automatic updating, malware protection, and other security settings.
    4. Click the arrow to the right in the firewall bar to expand the bar. The extended bar will display one of the following three options:
      1. If the firewall bar is green, it means that the firewall is enabled.
      2. If the firewall bar is red, you may see a message that the Windows Firewall is disabled. To turn on the Windows Firewall and cause the firewall bar to the center of safety to turn green, click activate now.
      3. If the firewall bar is red, and the message describes a problem with a third-party firewall program, we recommend that you disconnect the computer from the network and then contact the vendor of the firewall program for more information on how to activate the third-party firewall program.

    Hello.

Cannot get my calendar to store the dates of the annual events birthdays for example.
Option gives (annual 27 July 2012), but would it be fair (27 July each year). No way to remove year so presumably won't wait that 2012 will come along! All the other choices for weekly and monthly do not specify the year.

Annual option should I think be the same. Tried to enter next year, but comes with (year July 27, 2013) so it looks that have to enter every year which is a pain. Someone at - it ideas.

  • Qosmio G10: How to get Toshiba virtual sound in the taskbar

System: Qosmio G10 running Windows XP.

When I bought the system, it came loaded with application of 'Virtual Sound' of Toshiba, which has replaced the standard Microsoft Volume control app in the XP taskbar (bottom right of the screen). Now, the 'Volume Control' standard app appears in the taskbar.

How to bring back the "Virtual Sound" app? It allows me to switch easily between defining the sound of the internal speakers of the laptop and using bigger speakers.

    Thank you!

    Ben.

    PS. love Qosmio!

When you start the virtual sound application icon should appear in the taskbar.
Try right-clicking on the application. Maybe you'll get an option to place in the taskbar

  • Microsoft Security Essentials icon, absent from the taskbar after restarting Windows XP

original title: lack of Windows XP icons after restart

After that I restarted my antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials icon is missing from the taskbar. It also happened when I have ESET NOD32 installed. When I disable the SSDP Discovery Service, in the section of the Admin, it will appear. But when I go back and set it to automatic, it will still be absent.

For all that is you probably not need to have running SSDP Discovery Service, for security reasons almost always disable this service on any system that I put in place.

  • laptop stuck on the spinning circle during the upgrade to windows 8.1

Hello. I have a HP pavilion g6 and today I tried to update windows 8 to 8.1, and he spent the screen where it says put in place 1%... 2 %... Etc... Thereafter it restarted when he hit 100% and now its deadlock on the rotation circle thing. The only thing on my screen is the HP logo and the circle of rotation. His lasts four hours and I decided to just hold the power and restart. When it restarted, it went backward the same screen with the hp logo and the circle of rotation and I left it for a few hours ANDS nothings happening. I took out the battery and held down the button of power and then put the battery back in the hope that he will return to normal... but in vain her back on the same screen. Help me please

EDIT: I can't do anything right now on my laptop. It is stuck on that screen and it's like my laptop was 'bricked' or something. All I wanted was windows 8.1 :(

  • Satellite 1130-Z31: impossible to get 1600 x 900 on the second monitor

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1130-Z31 (an old, but everything works well).

Now, I have attached a second monitor with a native resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels.

I put the second screen resolution to 1600 x 900, it is accepted.

However, the image on the second monitor is ugly, and the external monitor´s what OSD says it gets 1440 x 900 pixel laptop computer signals.

It seems that Toshiba sends an image with a lower resolution on the whole.

I installed the latest graphic driver - no change.

Or would it be a problem with a bad quality VGA cable or almost?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you
    Turtle

    Hello

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the info which resolutions are supported for external screens, but if you can't get 1600 x 900 pixels which means that this resolution is not supported by the graphics card.

What video port are you using? VGA 15 pins port maybe?
