After receiving the error code 80070005 for these last months. I tried several suggested corrections but have not been able to get updates either. My operating system is Vista Ultimate 32-Bit Windows operating system and have service pack 2 installed. any help would be appreciated
Hello
As I said that it is a very difficult issue to resolve.
Did you use all of these methods, including the last link to the other thread?
If you have used all then possibly an InPlace upgrade/repair Installation might
help that allows to maintain the programs and data backups although redundant
are always a good idea. You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).On-site upgrade

If nothing works then, you can use BING or Google and search for all types of suggestions
many whom will be totally false.Perhaps the best choice is a new installation. You can use copy and paste to the backup
the data on CD, DVD, or USB drives.I hope this helps.

Can not install KB2676562 and KB2679255 keep receiveing an error code 80070020
There was a series of updates released in May. I finally got most of them to installed yesterday after installing all one by one. Now I have failed to install 2 pertaining to KB2676562 and KB2679255. I get the error code 80070020 on two of them. I have Vista Home Premium SP2 32 bit OS. I run the trend and Malwarebytes. When I look up error code it tells me to make one of the two restarts) 1 start Windows Update in safe mode or 2) start Windows Update with a clean reboot of Windows. Neither of these 2 options works and I'll add that the start in Safe Mode option requires you to "Click on the safe boot check box, click Network and then click OK." I don't know why, but I cannot check this box sound as if it is grayed out. I am the owner of this PC so I think I should be able to check that box and can not. I can't register for Windows update and receive the error code 0 x 80070002 when I try.
When I try to solve the problem by following the instructions, I'm unable to start or stop the automatic updates in the field of Services. When I click with the right button on automatic updates and then click Start, I get the following error message: error 2: the system cannot find the specified file.
When I go to Windows Update and the attempt to revise my story to update, I get error 0 x 80070002 there as well. Anyone have any ideas? The other proposed problem was to remove the contents of the Datastore folder after you type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution in the run dialogue box, but I do not have a Datastore, just the two following folders folder: installation and WuRedir.
Hello
Rename the folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

Hi Happyrockgeek,
Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!
This problem occurs if the Windows security .dll files are incorrectly registered.
To resolve this problem, you can perform the two methods of troubleshooting, check if the problem is resolved.
Method 1:
Run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations. For more information about how to download and run the Checksur.exe tool, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/947821
2. try to install the updates again.
Methods 2.
Reset the Windows Update components.
1. to reset the Windows Update components automatically, click the fix button in the link below.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
2. click run in the file download dialog box and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard.I also suggest you to install the latest version of Windows Installer 4.5.
Follow the link below to download:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

I do not receive an error code for updates failed
original title: update seems to work and indicates successful but when I check some updated why some say failure and why does not receive an error code during the update process?
Whenever I update the installation process says successful but when I went on a lot of my updates to display the details I see "failed." Why is not updating error messages instead of download the update and declaring that it was installed successfully? Why this is happening, seems I can't besure if my updates are actually loaded, even if each notes "installed successfully". I don't want to have to go thro each update to check its status.
Hello

If you receive an error message on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site or automatic
Service updates, you can use the information in the Windowsupdate.log file to resolve the problem.Open the log file and search for the error codes. Post the logs here so that we can check what exactly is causing the problem.
