  I finally managed to install my software.    I have download an other registery cleaner and found more stragglers and I found about 5 gig in addition to free on my main partition.   I suspect that the limitations on my hard disk partition may have contributed to the inability to install software.   However, I did so many steps, so I'm not sure that you allowed me to complete the process.  But there was something different and who has been installing the update of the firmware that was on the page of the software product and the drivers.    Thank you for your help and support.

  Since you get an error message when you try to install the Lifecam software and States error installation is already in progress, I would like to use the Windows Installer Cleanup tool. Click here to download the cleaning tool. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on.

  Once you have installed the tool, right-click on the installation executable and select "Run as Administrator". Then a list of programs is listed. Select the Lifecam software you want to uninstall. This will remove all corrupted files installation. Then restart the software installation.

  Hope this will help get your software installed and working tools.

  so your problem with tools is not one that has been fixed with this latest version of 2.0.2 (147997). However, I really wonder if you must install the tools of your virtual machine? Is not because the menu item "Install VMware Tools" in the menu 'Virtual Machine' is not disabled it means that you must install the tools of your virtual machine. In general, if VMware Tools are not up to date, once your virtual machine is running and launched, you should see the small blue icon with three cubes (symbol of Vmware) on the Windows taskbar, bottom right, flashing. In any case, to check if you really have an older version of tools, right click on the little blue icon in the Windows taskbar and open the Vmware Tools Properties dialog box. Select the 'About' tab (last one) and check the Version displayed.   Thanks for your comments. I finished setting up the laptop from scratch. The first thing I did after installing base was to update the Bluetooth drivers and it worked without problem. I suspect that the culprit was the ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse. When I updated the Bluetooth software before installing the Bluetooth mouse, I was able to update without problems.
