  Your friend is misinformed. CS6 license is perpetual meaning it will last forever, if you have the hardware and the operating system required to run it.

  You can reinstall CS6 as often as you want on as many computers as you want. However, you can activate the software to be used on up to two computers at the same time, and you can use it on one computer at a time.

  I just reinstalled my Windows 7 64 bit Professional operating system on a SSD and proceeded to reinstall my programs.  However, I can't for the life of figure me out how to reinstall CS6.

  I initially bought CS5 Extended and more later upgraded to CS6 (not extended).  When I went to reinstall CS6 on my computer I first download the software from Adobe.  When I pulled up, I was told to enter my serial number.  The program tells me that there is no eligible package for this number and gave me a choice of Photoshop packages from which to choose.  Extended CS6 was on the list, but not the ordinary CS6.  I was even once my serial number does not match the Extended CS6 packaging.

  I entertained the thought of reinstalling CS5 Extended of CD and retry the Adobe program, but I think I'll end up in the same situation, I am now.  I do not have a CD of the CS6 upgrade, so I have no idea what to do.

  Is this a ploy to get me to go with the CC plan?  I noticed that Adobe no longer provides telephone support for CS6 and below.  So much for the > $ 1000 I invested in their software.

  Help, please!  Photoshop jobs back up quickly.

  Looks like you're drowning in useless details.

  After you have entered your serial number CS6 upgrade, which is exactly listed in the subsequent drop for packages of qualification?

  CS5 Extended must be one of the options listed. If this isn't the case, please post a screenshot of the drop-down list.

  You select CS5 Extended, enter your serial number CS5 Extended (which proves the installer that you are entitled to use the CS6 upgrade serial number) and you're done.

  Out of the blue, I tried to open a raw image of the bridge this morning and I received an error message that some components of the application were missing in Photoshop. A quick search on the internet told me that I had to reinstall CS6, so I did and went ahead and reinstalled the CS6 updates too. Now, when I try to open a raw image of the bridge file, I get a message different error that reads "Photoshop close unexpectedly. Click on reopen... "Note that I also get the error even if I try to open the CS6 without going through the bridge. I rebooted my machine and get the same error message. I am running OS X El Cap 10.11.4

  The problem has been resolved by updating my OS to the latest version of OS X. Thanks for the answers. Moderators please close this thread.
