Impossible to reinstall XP Service pack 3

I'm a * of a mess. I need to reinstall XP Service Pack 3 because my video card drivers will not work under SP2 and I answer on the 14 bit more raw color settings. I removed it because I wanted to uninstall IE8, to allow my HP Director software to work. These are issues separate towing themselves. Back to the matter in hand, when I try to install XP3 from Windows Update, the installation fails and the error message says that a .dll file is used by another program. I checked Microsoft article on steps to take before installing SP3 and therefore have trurned off my Avast antivirus time real Shields and close all other programs running in memory. I also downloaded XP3 manually from the Download Center and it burned on the disc, but I have exactly the same problems. Can anyone help please?

Thus, it sems to ast post you you want to rerminate the discussion. You are satng that the fact that the update above is still on display in Windows Update means that there is always an infection and I still need to do a clean install?

Yes. If the computer was not infected, KB2393802 would have correctly installed now.

  • Impossible to install Vista Service Pack 1

Hello. I have tried everywhere looking for a solution but does. My computer will not install Windows Vista Service Pack 1. I don't get the error messages. I click Download and install via Windows Update. To install the service pack. I am asked that it can take an hour or more. Then I have to click on the acceptance contract. After clicking on these screens, a new windows update screen pops up saying update installed successfully. Said the same thing in my history of update. After windows update closing and reopening, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is back to the list of updates to install. This happens every time. The system makes no effort to install the update and doesn't give any error message.

I tried to start in safe mode, but it still didn't install. Reinstalling Windows is not an option, because other users of this computer would be panic. I defragmented the hardrive and did an error check. Also ran CCleaner and one analyzing antivirus and ad-ware/malware. Nothing works. I know a lot about computers, but this one me stem.

I also tried update readiness tool. Someone suggested that to me. A took about 25 minutes to install. He then said 'Installation '. I liquidated it and tried the service pack. Still a no go. So I rebooted the system and tried to install it then. It has not yet installed. I don't really know what did Update Readiness Tool.

I also tried to install the stand-alone version. He has not installed and said that Windows update has encountered an unknown error. This is the version of 5 language pack.

    Please help me! Thank you

  • Impossible to install Vista Service Pack 2

Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465) have not installed yesterday morning via my auto-download of Windows.  When the "failed" dialog box came, the error code given was 80070490.

I then tried a 'manual' download via the Microsoft Download site - it did not work.  Provided a link directing me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb947366.  He suggested download "tool update for Vista (KB947821) system, which I did, ran, then rebooted and tried again auto-download of Windows.  It is always impossible to install, with the same code (80070490) given.

During all this time, and reading various troubleshooting suggestions, I realized that I had to disable my antivirus, protection against spyware, etc.  So I did, then tried again auto-download of Windows.  It has always failed.  Then I tried the manual download (I had saved the executable file in my "Download" folder).  But it still does not work.

Somewhere else troubleshooting suggested to disable antispyware/virus, reset programs and open in safe mode - which I did, then tried the executable file downloaded, I had previously saved in my folder "Download".  But it still doesn't work.  This time, the dialog box has given me a little bit more information: "Installation was not successful.  Item was not found.  Details (a link that I clicked on) and it will read: error: ERROR_NOT_FOUND (0 x 80070490).

So I've now used up what little expertise I have - you suggested I should try next?

    Thank you!

  • Can't reinstall XP service pack 3 on the new hard drive, will not cross of EULA

Computer VOstro 220 (Dell) under the age of 18 months. Internal HD died and was replaced two weeks ago with a HD internal 320, the speed of 7200 Western Digital. (Micro Center, a computer store large installed the HD that I bought at the store)

I used the OEM "reinstall Windows XP service Pack 3" DVD.  With F12 I put the computer to boot from the DVD.

DVD boots, I chose the option to install the OS

Fisrt I see the message that the program checks the material. No error message

Then I see the screen with the words "Windows Setup". Five minutes later, Microsoft EULA (end-user contract) is displayed.  IT does not scroll, I used the arrow keys on the keyboard to get at the end of the EULA was waiting for some kind of "type option"I agree". But there is nothing.

Nothing more happens. No additional configuration.

What is the problem? What should I do to get the Windows XP installation to continue?

Why not install the operating system?

  • Impossible to install Vista Service Pack 1 through Windows Update

    Hello

Recently I had to reinstall windows vista home premium 32 bit on my old acer aspire laptop. I did a "clean install", all was well with this operation. I had to install a large number of various updates after doing, now I am notified via windows update vista service pack 1 is available for download/installation. When I try to perform this action, I get a popup window that informs me of what to know before installing sp1, then I reach a window where I have to accept the terms of the software installation. Once I click on the little square and accept the conditions, it goes to another window with two choices... install & cancel, when I click the button install... instead of windows update download and install the update, I am presented with the view of windows update, the update has been installed successfully When in fact it was not. I prefer to install sp1 via windows update, because she was supposed to be a size smaller than the stand-alone version available on microsofts website. Has anyone else had the same question, and if so how do you fix? Of course this laptop is not my main computer, but as it still works very well I continue to use it.

    Thank you

    David

Use the standalone version for both SPS.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you which SP you have installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.
