How can I secure my laptop when I surf the internet via a public router at work? I mean if I use a router to work and others use too and I use a private laptop! I heard that someone hase the knoladge he can enter my laptop the couscous that he uses the same router I do. you have a special program for that, or is there a place in my computer that I need to enable to avoid the unwanted entries?

If your Windows is updated and your Windows Firewall is enabled and that you have updated anti-virus, that would be fine. In Windows 7, you must check Action Center in Control Panel to see your security status, if something is wrong that it will show a message in Windows XP and Windows Vista, he calls the center of security.

They may only enter your laptop or hack, if your firewall is disabled or there is a vulnerability in your system or a Malware would cause of vulnerability, and in all cases to ensure that your Windows updates and anti-virus is running, you are protected.

Another thing is that if your router requires the password, then choose strong password and change it regularly, if it is public without password or authentication, then you need to careful when visiting Web sites because they could be monitor and publicly display information. Some websites have encryption that in Internet Explorer, it shows as a lock icon pad indicating that your transaction is encrypted and you're safe.

It depends also wireless encryption in your company that will be in service by admin or SOUND Department if it's WPA2 which is good but for WEP or WPA, you should be very careful. I suggest to discuss this issue with your COMPUTER service too.

  • Field joined WinXP machine on the network can not surf the internet

I have several laptops at work who joined our corporate domain.  We use a proxy server to access the internet.  These systems have no trouble to get on the net at work through the proxy server.  However, when used on a wireless public or home networks that they cannot surf the internet.  All systems will be the IP addresses, the gateway and DNS settings on those external networks, can see other devices on these networks, can ping IP on Internet addresses, but will not shoot to the top of all Web sites.  They can pull up of sites by IP address, sometimes but not always.  The proxy settings are off and IE is set to automatically detect settings.  One of these machines has been wiped and reloaded the last week and it still has this problem.  I've deleted all the browser history and temporary files in IE so deleted the DNS using ipconfig/flushdns with no luck.  I installed Firefox on one of these machines, but he'll not all sites either.  If these machines are removed from the field and added to a working group, they seem to work well.  All users connect with local accounts on these machines and all tests were conducted with administrator accounts.  All the suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Technician has checked the computer to test. It is suspected that it is a software problem.

The suggestion is that the operating system is necessary to recover the machine at its initial stage of factory.

However, as I do not have the recovery disk and I'll be gone to the United Kingdom for a period to extend I request the recovery disc to be sent to my home abroad. I will provide address details if this is the case.

Any other solution to address the issue is welcome.

    Hi dl347,

Before you think of reinstalling the entire operating system allow me to ask you if you have already updated the driver LAN and the BIOS? You can download the Toshiba site so you can do this anywhere:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In addition, you can reinstall the OS using the Toshiba HDD recovery option. Go to the advanced boot menu (F8), select Repair my computer. Follow the instructions on the screen, and your computer will be reinstalled.

By the way: the recovery disk, you have to create yourself. Did you do that?

Surfing the internet on my iphone, I received a pop-up message stating that I had a virus that could fly as well as personal information and credit card information used on the phone.  That I should call 1-844-854-6870 immediately to get the virus removed.  I didn't call the number, but rather made sure my privacy filters were ignited, powered my phone is off and connected my office here.  What should I do to make sure that I do not have a virus on my iphone?

    It's just a scam.

    Force restart our iPhone.

Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

As long as you call the number or allow anyone access to your iPhone, so there is no worry for a virus.

    2. Microsoft Security Essentials is enough without using any other antivirus?

    (1) Yes, viruses could just enter in your PC by inserting removable media that is infected. Firewall you help, but does not fully protect you. You must have anti-virus protection and the virus went wrong and it could be a very small misateke in the second causing a great nuisance in your PC.

    (2) Yes, Microsoft Security Essentials is a solution Anti-Malware and Anti-Spyware full and you don't need anything else. And you must NOT use other protection in real time or with Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus.

    Hello

I have on C4580 and when I turn the printer wireless on my Internet crashes any type of

I can print and I can find computers on a network, but I can't surf the net

I don't know why this is happening.

I already fully "restarted" configs router and printer and I have nothing...

    What can I do?

Open web page internal printer by accessing its IP address.  Select networking and wireless (802.11).  Under the IPv4 Configuration tab, select manual IP:

    • For the manual IP address, use the IP address of the printer to the existing address with a lag.  For example, if the printer's IP address is 192.168.0.5, then use 192.168.0.30.
    • Manual use the mask subnet 255.255.255.0
    • For manual default gateway, leave blank.  This is important.

    Select manual DNS server:

    • Fill the oil fields in preferred DNS server and DNS server auxiliary manual Manual.  This is important.

    Press on apply.

Turn off the wireless router, the printer and all the computers connected to your network.  Wait 60 seconds and then turn on the wireless router and then turn on the printer.  Then turn on the computer.  You should be able to browse the internet while the printer is also on.

Finish by installing the SW on the computers that you want to print from.  A suggestion more - do not install the HP Customer Participation program.

  • My Firefox don't surf the Internet, even though I am connected to the Internet.

Excuse me, but my Firefox 3.6 just randomly stopped working. It wont let me not browse the Internet more - it still gives me the error message is "Unable to connect", even if I am connected to the Internet. Earlier I open Safari and Internet Explorer 9 - both, in which, allow me to browse the Internet, and I had a complete connection. But, whenever I use Firefox now, it said 'unable to connect '. And whenever I type in a URL on it, Firefox gives me the SAME error message. I don't know what to do now. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it does the same thing. So now I'm stuck with using Safari, when I really want to use my Firefox. Why would he do that?

Make sure that you do not appear to work offline in the file menu.

It is possible that your connection has been interrupted, even briefly, more so if using wireless. Make sure that Firefox is not set on "[v] work offline" in the file menu just above output.

By default, Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 will automatically use offline mode if there is no network connection. Under certain conditions, after the connection is restored, it can stay in offline mode, without the user's knowledge. Firefox 4 and newer prevents this behavior by default. To prevent this behavior in versions 3.5 and 3.6, add an entry to the topic: config options, as follows.

       * Type about:config in Location (address) bar
       * Right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean preference. Name: network.manage-offline-status. Value: false

  • Slow connections to the internet wireless

I have problems with my wireless with my brand new Dell laptop running Vista 32 bit.  I spent a lot of time to read about it online but have not been able to solve my problem.  Here are my steps, I took so far

    D/led drivers Dell Wireless
    -J' uninstalled McAfee Security Center
    -disabled autotuning, rss, tcp/ip v6
-Flashed the firmware newest on the router (netgear WGR614 v5)
-set levels of power for maximum performance on battery

Wired product than the internet very fast speeds so it's a wireless issue.  My other laptop running XP THAT works well on wireless so I think it must be related to Vista SP2(even ran the same virus scan programs on both computers).  Some pages load more quickly, but as soon as I'm lulled into a false sense of security on the internet speed, I get hit with a page very slow loading Web or the connection is lost (although I am still connected to my wireless network).

Any suggestions?  This has been a very frustrating and aggravating, issue especially with a brand new computer.

    Thank you.

    Hello

You can check your connection Wireless at a library or other WiFi spot just to rule out any problem between
your router and the new system. Have you tried to assign security to WPA and make sure that you broadcast
SSID that some routers and systems have problems. If disable you (OFF) the system XP is there a difference in the way
the new system works with the WiFi connection?

Security/antivirus/antispyware products could also play a role here, even if the same as those on XP seem to
work well. Were there more of them on this system even if you have uninstalled them when they leave often remains
    which may cause strange problems.

Try actually updated your driver on the site of the manufacturer of the device if possible, and by disabling the network logon.

It's the generic drivers up to date, and you did the part at Dell.
