Impossible to suspend (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12)

I have difficulties to suspend a virtual machine of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12.

Even improved v7.1.1 fusion in the hope that it can be fixed.

Hi Bruce,.

Welcome to the Fusion community.

Please try to re - install vmware tools in your virtual machine and see if this could solve your problem. Thank you.

  • Network feedback SLES (SUSE LINUX ENTERPRISE SERVER) problem and VMWARE

    Hello

    This is my first post here.

    I just installed SLES 11 on VMWARE 3.1.2. Now my Windows 7 host IP address is 192.168.2.3 but SLES IP address is 192.168.234.130 in NAT mode. If I switch mode Bridged mode NAT, I need Oracle client connectivity to a database on the host computer, the IP address is kept.

    If I start SLES with Bridged mode first, no network connectivity is present!

    I installed another copy of SLES on VIRTUALBOX and I have no problem there.

    I am connected via wired and my wireless is disabled on my host.

    Please tell us what can I do to make my VMWARE SLES be on the same subnet as my host.  Thank you.

    You must use the virtual network editor and disable the automatic bypass on VMnet0 however in VMware Player 3.x for Windows (vmnetcfg.exe) virtual network Editor is not installed by default.  You can run VMware-player -.exe with the help argument - to get the syntax to extract the content. Then extract the contents, then in the network.cab extract the vmnetcfg.exe in the folder C:\Program Files\VMware/VMware Player. You can create a shortcut and place it with the shortcut of VMware Player.

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise for VMware - Install source?

    Hello. I am trying to find a definitive answer on this.

    Assuming that all other prerequisites are met (active license of SnS, qualification VMware SKU, etc.), is it mandatory that the virtual machine (s) of SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 is installed from ISO who deploys the custom VMware of SLES or existing usable ISO unbranded version?

    VMware site does not make clear if the branded version to be used. I sent a question to support, but I'm covering all angles as this has not yet been answered.

    Thank you

    Gary

    I Don t know how SuSE / Novell is the manipulation of a permit to put into perspective, but I can tell you that there are different keys.

    Can´t activate you a VMware SLES version with a 'normal' SLES license and not the reverse.

    And that means that if you have only the SLES VMware licenses, you must use the ISO VMware.

  • using the <? : import file? > command on a linux Enterprise server

    Hello.
    I have a problem with a model. I have never had a client who use linux as an operating system in enterprise server.
    I work with embedded bi publisher in JD EDWARDS and usually I use this command to call dinamic feet and never had a problem. For example
    <? import:file:///\\10.153.2.86\BIP\R5543501\footerlastpage.RTF? >. This client is Linux and know nothing about linux, but I think that the problem is in this order because linux does not use '-' to run this command \\10.153.2.86\BIP\R5543501\footerlastpage.rtf.
    Anyone know how I can fix this problem? I tried something like this (<? import:file:///10.153.2.86\BIP\R5543501\footerlastpage.rtf? >) but still not working and can't find a lot of information in internet on this subject.

    Any help is appreciated

    Hi Paulo,

    You can import this way submodels:

    (access via HTTP)

    or

    (access to the file system)

    (Notice: http uses two slashes / / and the file uses three / / /)

    So in your case, try this:

    Another thing to make sure is set is the following:

    Thank you Angelika

    Angelika,

    I found an announcement similar on my oracle support with the same error message in OS SUSA, only different DB platform. Doc-ID 852114.1. The solution is to create a symbolic link for env command under "/ bin" folder from/usr/bin/env as below:

    ln-s/usr/bin/env env

    Run above the command as user root of the folder "/ bin".

    It will be useful,

  • Required rpm for suse linux 11 for 11.2.0.3 installation

    Hi all

    OS - SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)

    DB - 11.2.0.3

    I install 11.2.0.3 on suse linux for prerequisites, I get an error message for the packages needed, someone can tell me where to download these packages.

    I don't have the DVD, so I can't mount and install the rpm. Of zypper I get this error

    expdev1: ~ # zypper install libstdc ++-3.4.6

    Loading repository...

    Reading installed packages...

    «libstdc ++ not found-3.4.6'.»

    Resolution of dependencies of the package...

    Nothing to do.

    Can someone help me in this

    I went once more thanks to this document for the packages needed and the list of package warnings that I got.

    I checked each package by 'rpm - q' as mentioned and I found that all the required packages are already installed, but during the installation of oracle, is giving the alert to the new list of packages which i think is not necessary at all, and also they are not mentioned in the document so again I think it's a behavior when installing on vmware. The solution is to ignore and continue what I ordered, the installation is completed without error.

    I found somewhere to change the configuration file before installation to avoid these warnings.

  • SuSE Linux ARE 9 guest - installation problem

    Hi all

    under VMware 2.0.0 WinServber 2003, I tried to install SuSE Linux Enterprise Server as a guest operating system. But she didn't in this sense, I'm not able to read the contents of the console remotely.

    After that turn on/off the normal startup innstallationnprocess, but after passing all the tasks of detecting screen spit upward into two and one can only imagine that the last line says "from Yast"

    I tried to start the installation with another resolution, but has no - installation always splits the screen and you have two unreadable screens with mediocre colors (somehow amber "retarded") in the 2/3 of the top and bottom you have the typical SuSE.

    Any help or info how to make it useful to install SLES9 is welcome.

  • R12 Quick Installation on Suse Linux or Oracle Linux fails

    Hello

    I tried several combinations of operating systems to try and install correctly using the Oracle R12 / quick installation but I could not. My last attempt was on Suse Linux 10. When the installation wizard is complete, database checks are successful but HTTP server is unresponsive and all subsequent checks fail.

    The reading of google and the various threads on this forum, I found that for Oracle Linux, we must apply the patch that contains libdb.so.2. Since then, I do not have an account to support oracle, I cannot get this fix and based on rules, no body can send it in an email, which means that we can not install this distribution on Oracle Linux without having to pay for the supported. Since then, it is a learning exercise without the use of serious production of R12 apps, we do not have any arrangement with Oracle support.

    For Suse, I also have the same problem, but when I try to start the opmn manually using opmnctl beginning, she responds with message, began. But when I use opmn stopall, the computer stops responding. Now, I don't know yet how to start debugging this problem.

    I would give just to try to install it or there at - it a hope?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    I finally managed to install R12 on Suse Linux Enterprise 10 SP3. I decided to start again after a repair for the past two days. Here's the process:

    a. install Suse Enterprise 10 SP3 with office and all development packages offered in the facility.

    b. click the computer--> install the software--> search for the 'db1 '. It will give you two or more packages. Install db1_185xx (from Berkley). This provides a required libdb.so.2.

    c. then go through the installation as outlined in the instructions using rapidwiz.

    It fills correctly and I can see the login screen now.

    Now, I need to know how to put in place to automatically start all services after startup.

    Thank you for your help.

    Kind regards

  • How to automatically start Oracle on SUSE Linux

    I have Oracle 11g installed on a server running SUSE Linux 11. I followed the official Oracle instructions to try to implement the Oracle for an automatic start.

    My/etc/oratab file contains the following:

    sidname:/opt/oracle/product/11gR2/db:Y

    I created a /etc/init.d/dbora file that contains the following:

    #! /bin/sh  -x
    #
    # Change the value of ORACLE_HOME to specify the correct Oracle home
    # directory for your installation.

    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/11gR2/db
    #
    # Change the value of ORACLE to the login name of the
    # oracle owner at your site.
    #
    ORACLE=oracle

    PATH=${PATH}:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    HOST=`hostname`
    PLATFORM=`uname`
    export ORACLE_HOME PATH
    #
    if [ ! "$2" = "ORA_DB" ] ; then
       if [ "$PLATFORM" = "HP-UX" ] ; then
          remsh $HOST -l $ORACLE -n "$0 $1 ORA_DB"
          exit
       else
          rsh $HOST -l $ORACLE  $0 $1 ORA_DB
          if [ "$PLATFORM" = "Linux" ] ; then
              touch /var/lock/subsys/dbora
          fi
          exit
       fi
    fi
    #
    case $1 in
    'start')
            $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart $ORACLE_HOME &
            ;;
    'stop')
            $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut $ORACLE_HOME &
            ;;
    *)
            echo "usage: $0 {start|stop}"
            exit
            ;;
    esac
    #
    exit

    So I ran the following commands:

    chgrp dba /etc/init.d/dbora
    chmod 750 /etc/init.d/dbora
    ln -s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc0.d/K01dbora
    ln -s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99dbora
    ln -s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S99dbora
    shutdown -r now

    After the reboot, Oracle did not work:

    server:~ # ps -fea | grep ora
    root      2681  2563  0 21:18 ?        00:00:00 hald-addon-storage: no polling on /dev/fd0 because it is explicitly disabled
    root      2688  2563  0 21:18 ?        00:00:00 hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sr0 (every 2 sec)
    root      4491  4333  0 21:19 pts/1    00:00:00 grep ora
    server:~ # ps -fea | grep lsnr
    root      4493  4333  0 21:19 pts/1    00:00:00 grep lsnr

    Oracle works very well after the start of the instance (by logging in as "sys as sysdba" sqlplus and the command 'boot') and the listener. But it will not start automatically after the server is restarted. Why is this?

    I got it to work.  I had to change the file released to look like this:

    #! /bin/sh  -x
    #
    # Change the value of ORACLE_HOME to specify the correct Oracle home
    # directory for your installation.

    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/11gR2/db
    #
    # Change the value of ORACLE to the login name of the
    # oracle owner at your site.
    #
    ORACLE=oracle

    PATH=${PATH}:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    export ORACLE_HOME PATH

    touch /var/lock/subsys/dbora

    case $1 in
    'start')
            su - $ORACLE $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart $ORACLE_HOME &
            ;;
    'stop')
            su - $ORACLE $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut $ORACLE_HOME &
            ;;
    *)
            echo "usage: $0 {start|stop}"
            exit
            ;;
    esac
    #
    exit

    Then I had to delete the files auto_listener.sh and startup.log in $ORACLE_HOME because they were incorrectly owned by root.

  • Try to run a P2V on Linux (RHEL5) server for the first time, may not know how to get * started *.

    Hi - I'm trying to figure out how do a P2V for a Linux (RHEL5) server, and everything I find documentation seems to start with, «now that you have the Converter Wizard run...» »

    (Linux Linux Linux, no NOT of Windows)

    Can I buy a vowel on how / where can I Start, from the beginning, please?

    I am running VMware VirtualCenter 2.5.0 (build 119598) using VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5.0 (build 119826), and everything works fine.

    I have the plugin VMware Converter Enterprise 4.0.2 installed and enabled on the virtual circuit.

    I downloaded archive VMware Converter (autonomous) "Converter-4 - 146302.tar.gz", but have not yet installed all this anywhere.

    I can't find anything in the VC on the converter, beyond that the plugin is installed and activated, so I guess that I don't start the conversion process.

    Here's my question:

    The converter is supplied with a server, a Client and an Agent.

    Simply install the Agent on the physical Linux box I want to convert, the Agent and the customer, all three pieces or what?

    Once I have some parts I need installed on the physical area Linux, start the conversion from here, or from the VC or what?

    Y at - there a page somewhere that describes it in a way that is useful for someone who has never done this before?

    Any help, pointers, advice, suggestions, acts of mercy greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    OK, this isn't really as complicated as you make it to be:

    1. you ran Setup on a machine that can reach the source and the ESX on the network.  You are trying to install 'this' or ' only that. "  You install.  The only difference between a "local installation" and "installation of client server", is that it allows you to install the client on another machine and control the Converter on this other server machine.  Maybe it's not necessary for you, but it does not hurt so I always do.

    2. you start the Client of converter (vmware-converter-customer) on a machine where you installed everything.

    3. you choose the IP accessible (from ESX) the source for the source power Linux machine remotely.

    4. you select the target ESX (or the Victoria Cross, but there is really no point, you can simply point directly to the target ESX).

    5. you enter a static IP address of VM for assistance if necessary.

    6. you look at the progress meter and see the conversion complete.  You don't need to worry about what anyone else unless you have a firewall preventing circulation.

    P.S., Another user has published this guide to make a LInux P2V with converter, you may find useful:

    http://www.Vladan.fr/how-to-P2V-Linux-into-VMware-ESX-Server/
