  • LAN problem: Vista PC does not connect to the XP PC through a router

My setup: laptop XP SP3, laptop Vista Home premium SP1, Fritz! Box 7270 as ADSL Modem, router and gateway.

Since the Installation of the SP3 on XP laptop PC Vista can no longer access the XP PC. Vista indicates the XP Machine occasionally, but cannot connect. Error 0 x 80070035. Ping from Vista to XP translates to time limit.

XP PC can connect to the Vista PC and use all the services available.

I am a user experienced with the good network of expertise. I checked the configuration settings and tested alternative parameters. I installed KB 922120V6-x86D DTBT Protocol on the XP PC. No change in the behavior of the network.

Internet connection through the gateway works fine on both machines.

Useful tips are very much appreciated

You have probably two firewalls running on XP is the first place to check. If you have a software firewall or antivirus/security of the third party with its own firewall component, the built-in Windows Firewall should not be running and it probably is. Or are looking for a firewall neglected in the VPN software if you use it. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • E1505 with Vista operating system repeatedly lose the connection network through a router WRT54G

    Model: Dell E1505

    OS: Vista Edition Home Premium

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5300, 1.73 GHz

Device of wireless network: Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini Card

    Wireless router: Linksys WRT54G

My E1505 has a problem with the Wi - Fi being dropped at least twice a day / every day with an average of seven hours of use per day.  Almost identical to several offers from others, as I'm surfing the web and try to access another site, the connection just drops and I get the white screen indicating a network connection cannot be made.  Meanwhile, my utility for wireless LAN card reflects that I have a connection 'very strong' or even 'excellent '.  The only way to connect is to restart the computer.  I did a lot of research on the Internet and tried all the suggested actions to solve the problem (changing the settings of the power of the highest performance, by changing the channel of the router, updated drivers, etc.), but none of them have cured the problem.  I also spent more than 12 hours to talk or have a Dell technician remotely access my laptop to try and fix the problem, but nothing helped.  In the end, the so-called expert technician said they did everything possible and suggested I reload Vista on my computer again, or wait for the Vista Service Pack comes out with the hope that the problem is solved.

Can someone please! It seems that I left without other alternatives, but to spend the next eight hours, reload all my programs that are inexcusable.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

I am planning to move to our new home in the country next year where I won't have highspeed internet (15 MB / Sec) and the threshold of large data capacity (250 GB) (Comcast).

Currently we will be able to get the wild blue Satellite service (1.5 MB / Sec) with a 7-12 GB monthly Cap

I am currnelty use 75 GB per month to update the 5 computers and stream netflix movies and download all my podcasts.

May - some please point me in the direction where Microsoft provides the service / ability to download and manage these patches via a MS unique source and then I could build rivierra deposit on my LAN?

I know that it is available for business facilities it would be nice to be able to install this feature for the professional user home / small.

  • The computers on the LAN has disappeared from the Explorer on Win7 machine... other devices always there

Small inter-office network with 7 machines, no server. Two other XP, WIN7 machines. All have already appeared on my workstation running WIN7-65. Today, I noticed that only the share on my workstation presents in the in Windows Explorer. Printers, scanner, fax, always there.

I can connect through ftp, http and e-mail address of the computer that holds these programs and can ping all the machines successfully. But mounted network drives does not connect and, as I said, none of the other computers show in Explorer.

I had problems with Windows Virtual PC - would install not the integration features. So I deleted and reinstalled. Then it loads the integration... features for a few days... now won't again. I also installed VMware with XP virtual PC. I disabled virtual machine network maps to see if there was any change. No change.

I don't know when the computers on the LAN disappeared, because I had no reason to seek. I discovered that they were gone when a backup program could not set up a share on one of them.

Anyone has any ideas, what can happen?

    Hello

I suggest that you enable network discovery. Click on start-> Control Panel-> network and sharing Center, click on change settings for sharing advanced. Activate the option.

If the problem persists, try to access another computer by entering \\computername in the box to start the search. Let us know if it works properly

  • The computers on the LAN cannot print on old HP Officejet j5780 printer.

HP Pavilion hpe h8 - 1360t 64 - bit, OS Windows 7 Home Premium. Old LAN had computer of Windows Vista 32 - bit OS and computer from Windows Vista 32 - bit OS with the USB printer connected to it. I was able to print on both computers. I bought the computer HP has declared earlier and installed in place of the original. The drivers for the USB Officejet j5780 printer have been updated to 64-bit and works very well with the new computer. The old 32-bit computer connected to the LAN does not print. Both computers recognize the LAN and connected devices. When printing is attempted on the old computer, the print job is sent without error, but does not appear on the computer, this printer is connected to. I created the LAN with Windows network and sharing.

Thanks for the reply. I discovered in a document of Windoows is you have this problem with computers with different operating systems on the same LAN-in my case vista and windows 7 - change users under the same name on all computers. I did it and my two computers can share files and folders and print.

I don't know much about the TCP/IP settings.  OS is XP Pro SP3.  I have a DSL router from single port connected to a simple switch 5 ports, then two CAT5 cables will switch on both computers.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

Two computers cannot connect to the same connection using the same IP address. Each computer on the network must have its own unique IP address.

You need to get a cable/DSL router. Configure the WAN port (Internet) side with your static IP address and connect all the computers the and other equipment network on the side of the router LAN.

Generally, it looks like this, http://www.ezlan.net/network/router.jpg

P.S. You don't need to use the wireless if you do not, it is very difficult to find a new wireless router.

  • Portege R500 hangs / pauses during the connection through the LAN

My Portege R500 is like that: when all using WIFI or 3G works fine but I would use LAN for best performance when he's at the office. As soon as the LAN cable is connected the machine starts making strange breaks for 1 to 2 seconds and I want to say break total, even the mouse pointer freezes on the screen. This happens every 5 to 10 seconds and stops immediately when you unplug the LAN.

Someone at - it solution or an explanation for that? Hardware error? I have all the latest drivers from Toshiba, even the latest firmware for both the computer and the built-in 3G modem. No strange software or bad - one abnormal behavior is used, antivirus is Trend OfficeScan and standard Windows Firewall is used.

    Thanks in advance.

    / Magnus

You can test at home or elsewhere? It will be interesting if the same thing will happen if you connect your laptop to the router at home.

Have you talked about this with your local administrator?
What you can try is to update BIOS to see if this will change anything.

  • Satellite A100-455: Impossible to install the LAN driver

    Hello

I have recently re installed my dual boot Linux/Windows. Linux works fine, but under windows, it refuses to install the LAN Driver (Ethernet controller).

I installed before the chipset and it still does not work. All the drivers have been downloaded from the Web from Toshiba website.

Any idea on what could be the problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

    I know that this question;
I think you just tried to install a LAN driver is not compatible.

The A100-455 seems to belong to the PSAA9E series.
    If you choose this series then you will find two different Lan drivers;
    Intel v9.2.24 is a driver Pro1000 and Intel v8.0.43.0 is a driver of Pro100.

    Check both!

    Hi Humphrey2,

I suggest you arrange for an installation CD of Windows XP which may be necessary to copy the files to configure the network connection.

  • WRT54GL cannot transmit from inside the LAN port?

    Hello

I have a Server servers running several (HTTP, SVN, FTP,...) inside my network.

I used to have a SMC router in the past, and of course I had to use port forwarding.

This is why I realized that when we "talk" to the server, I can 'talk' to the router that will forward requests to the right compurer, based on the NAT table. If, for example, that if I move the SVN server, I don't have to change the path to the repository, change the NAT entry is OK in this case.

If this is not understandable, here 's another report.

However, I discovered that even if my new WRT54GL seems to be much more advanced, it cannot do this. Requests made to the router from within the local network are not transferred to the right place.

Is there a way to accomplish what we need, or at least a road map? It's sad that the SMC products otherwise is not very reliable can do...

    Kind regards

    Matej

    Well, I have it solved.

I tried to convey the SVN, HTTP, FTP, and SSH.

However, it was not working when the server IP assigned by DHCP.

When I set up (the server within the LAN) to use the static IP address, not only that port forwarding began to make sense, but I have seen web pages by typing my public IP address in the browser on a computer inside the LAN.

What surprised me, is that it only worked when the server had assigned auto private IP address. I know that these addresses change so it would not very long work, but it did not work even before that t has changed...
