Only 1 of the 2 computers in my LAN recognizes my static IP address assigned by my ISP - HELP!

I have an IP address from my ISP, but only one of the two computers in my LAN presents this static IP address in the "ipconfig" and it connects to the internet, the other computer Watch has "169.254.XXX.XXX' IP address and does not connect to the internet.  How can I fix it? I don't know much about the TCP/IP settings.  OS is XP Pro SP3.  I have a DSL router from single port connected to a simple switch 5 ports, then two CAT5 cables will switch on both computers.

Thanks for your help!

Hello

Two computers cannot connect to the same connection using the same IP address. Each computer on the network must have its own unique IP address.

You need to get a cable/DSL router. Configure the WAN port (Internet) side with your static IP address and connect all the computers the and other equipment network on the side of the router LAN.

Generally, it looks like this, http://www.ezlan.net/network/router.jpg

P.S. You don't need to use the wireless if you do not, it is very difficult to find a new wireless router.

    Hello sunny

I was going through your posts and help you've been putting online...

Answered by Mr. Aneesh, pilots refers to the software that we are supposed to install in the computer.  Thus, these drivers are available on the CD that you have with your printer...

Now, as you begin to install, you will get the screens user friendly and just follow the instructions and proceed with the installation.

The system, that is to say; the monitor (computers) will ask you how you are going to connect the printer to the computer...

Thus, there are 2 methods by which you can connect your printer to the computer...

    (1) USB - this is a cable that you find in the box the printer, but you would have to buy separately.  so, if you do not, please get one of the stores.

    (2) wireless - in this type of connectivity, you do not need the USB cable, because you would then have a device called a 'router '...  And here... It is the router that establishes the communication between the computer and the printer.

Please try the following and if you get stuck, let us know.

    Kind regards

    Hi all

I'm trying to p2v linux 6.4. It fails with the following message is displayed:

Error: Cannot get the IP address of the virtual destination machine running the converter assistance server.

I have seen discussions on this message, but they all refer to dynamic IP address, taken from DHCP, as in my case, I use static IP address.

In the meantime the p2v (which then breaks down...) I open console support machine and saw a message:

Can someone tell me what is happening?

    Hello

I assume you are using converter 5.5. There is a new feature that allows the selection of the network card. However, it works well in the case of Linux P2V. If you have changed the type of adapter, use 'e1000' or 'auto' and try again.

  • Family safety will handle only one of the two computers, not both

It is an interesting problem. I have 3 computers I want to fall under parental controls, all run Windows 7. (Computer A) works as it should with parental control. The other two are rocking. I have activate FS on B, it disables c. reactivate on C, it turns off computer b. C hard disk has been cloned to leave computer B, then C has "upgraded" to Windows 7 with a new valid license, so I suspect some ID that must be different between the two is the same. They have different computer names. I "fixed" FS on the two B & C nothing works. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting your request.  As it is on computers that are cloned, your application would be better suited in the TechNet forum.

  • Home computer connected to the network request username and pass on only one of the three computers.

I got my wife connected to my home network running Windows Media Center on Windows 7 laptop and it could be accessed by all computers on my home network. I replaced the laptop of the woman with a new laptop which has Windows 7. During the installation of Windows 7, it automatically set to join my home network. Now all but one of my other computers can access files/folders on the new laptop without a user name or password. But when I try to access the new laptop from pc it ask me a username and password. I never put in place of user names with password on all computers. I can go in the new laptop and send files and public folders from the pc of one of the problems, but not the reverse. Someone has an idea how I can fix this where it is not regarding the username and password on this computer?

I have two computers both hooked up to a junction, when I turn the time I get an error message that says IP address conflict, can you please help?

What other network devices are connected.

If it's only two computer and a hub, you will need to assign the computer with IP static.

  • RDP in the remote computer works for only 1 of the 2 local machines almost identical

I have a laptop and desktop at home, and I'm eager to distance in my work machine. The laptop can RDP into my machine to work very well, but I was not able to understand why my office cannot. I was even able to RDP in my work from my office machine in the past (a few months ago), but now he can't. Here is the error message I get on the desktop after the RDP authentication will fail; the laptop can connect correctly by using the same credentials.

Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.

Both use supplied with windows Remote Desktop connection application.

Both access to the internet via a wireless connection (the desktop equipped with a wireless adapter computer) connected to the same router.

Both are fully updated with updates of Windows and run the same antivirus.

The two successfully connect to a VPN software that connects very well and uses the same network as my work computer credentials.

Both must connect using the same login information, which are the same login information that I use at work.

On the desktop, I tried and failed with the following text:

Disabling the Antivirus and Windows Firewall.

Copy and run the RDP file saved to the laptop on the desk.

Reinstalling the VPN software on the desktop.

The only difference between the two that I can think is that my office does not require a password to connect; but it doesn't stop me of remoting in the working computer in the past, and my computer configuration has changed very little since then.

What else can check to figure out what could be allowing the laptop through, but deny the Office? Any help is appreciated, because I prefer to use my home office instead (two monitors, better equipment, etc.).

I was able to find a workaround for this problem, well that is not ideal. It seems that my work computer and desktop home somehow at some point got the same network IP address (192.168.1.106, at least by trying to connect to my work machine). Even if not connected via VPN software, they both have the same network IP address. That's why I was able to connect to another computer on the network, but not my machine specific work; My Home Office thought he needed to connect to itself. So what I was for my home desktop to have a different network IP address. my laptop has had a (192.168.1.3) which differed from the work machine.

What I did to work around that it was:

On my desktop, I opened the command prompt and run the ipconfig command and writes down the subnet mask and the default gateway of my wireless connection for use in later steps.

I then roughly followed the steps of this (somewhat similar to Windows 7) site to modify the IPv4 settings to change from automatic to manual IP address assignment. Set it to manual and back (i.e. reset) has not worked for me and has given rise to the same network IP address. So, using the values of the ipconfig I ran earlier, I chose a random network IP (192.168.1.42) address, left the settings to manual assignment and find other info. For DNS servers, I use Google's Public DNS.

The end result looks like the following and I am able to connect to my work from my home office machine.

    EDIT:

After a little more work and looking around, I could cancel the settings above (thus leaving my office with the default settings) and solve the problem of logging in my router settings and my office assign an IP network (192.168.1.42) using its MAC address. As long as I don't have to RDP into a computer to work with the IP address assigned, it will work very well.

I would mark this as the answer but do not see how.

  • Static IP address of WiFi requires the DNS server

I was able to confirm this on two separate MacBook Pro (various models) the two Yosemite running 10.11.4.

After assigning a static IP address to the wireless network interface, the MacBook ping to a address beyond the gateway by default unless there is also a DNS server on the wireless interface. I wouldn't need a public IP address ping DNS server.

    For example:

    This method works.

    But it does not work:

At least I have change the DNS like this:

    Then it starts working again.

I tried to initiate a capture of packets and the MacBook is not even send ping on the wireless interface requests unless there is a static DNS server assigned.

Can anyone other confirm/deny this behavior for me?

    Thank you

    Rob

What exactly are you trying to do?

You try to assign a Mac with a LAN IP address? If so, do it in the router by selecting an IP address on the local network to use with the Mac Machine (MAC address). This assumes that your router is your DHCP server. Otherwise, you need a DNS server that is running on your local network to be able to distribute IP of DHCP addresses.

  • Static IP address on the server 2008R2 disconnecting Internet

Please help with a static IP configuration on VMware.

I would like to configure Active Directory on VMware with FULL INTERNET AND IP ADDRESS, please help.

    Scenarios

I use VMware on Windows 8.1 10 and that's what strikes me:

    1. After installing server 2008R2 on VMware and the activation of the "Connection NAT" network card, I had full access to the internet.
    2. 1920168.5.2 to server static IP address assignment disconnect internet.
    3. Add more network on the server to reconnect to the internet but removes the static IP address.
    4. Even the bridge two network cards, I still get internet access.
    5. Active directory cannot be installed on a dynamic IP address
    6. I connect using wireless (my cell phone as a modem).

Your help will be greatly appreciated

After following your instructions, I discovered that VM DNS is 192.168.111.2. Both the DNS and gateway uses the same IP address, DNS is indeed the gateway to NAT. la... 111... changes when you reset the VM machine. Also, I discovered that the DHCP of the VM is 192.168.111.128 as you put it. Now place the Client Server on the same network of VM IP, thus, take the given dynamic IP 192.168.111.128/129/130/131 etc, make it static. Assigning 192.168.111.2 as gateway and DNS, provides access to the internet. However, after configuring Active directory member servers will not find the domain controller uses the DNS of VM.  Instead, insert the IP of the VM DNS as secondary preferred over the IP of the DNS server (for example, DC1, DC2 mem1 etc.) in the preferred DNS. Then... VOALA... Is set with full internet access.

It was a challenge to the calm, but I give you the thumbs up for your lead. You are the best.

Creative desktop cloud applications can be downloaded and installed on multiple computers, regardless of the operating system. However, the activation is limited to two machines per individual related to the composition, and you may not use the software on these devices simultaneously.

  • Files on a share network stuck as 'read only' to put the computer to sleep.

By necessity, I use my 98 computer windows that the file server since tempting to access any shares of Vista will cause Windows 9 X to crash. It is already used as a print from the Vista computer server does not have a parallel port.

I worked on a Microsoft Word document and subject to frequent interruptions. When I put the computer to sleep before walking away from the keyboard, it isn't properly disconnect the Win98 system. Wake up to the computer, I am unable to save office documents, because they are locked for editing.

In addition, sometimes even after I close Word or Excel, the system is not disconnected. Even when I stopped all other computers, the Win98 system reports that there are still users connected to the system when I go to stop him so. Is it possible to force the Vista computer to disconnect all network connections before you put it to sleep or stopping then the Win98 system recognizes that no one is online and that all the files will be closed?

I really don't want to have to close a document that I am in the middle of working on when I have to walk away from the keyboard, but this seems the only solution to the problem. Leaving open is the main reason that I put the computer to sleep rather than stop it. Recording locally is not really a good option because I want files stored in one place, and Vista Home Premium does not support synchronized folders.

Any suggestions? I already use the Briefcase feature to save documents on a flash drive, do I have to use the drive in question and transfer it to the server through network disks? This seems to beat the goal of a network.

The affected systems are Windows 98 Second edition and Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium =.

    Hello

Win 98 is a former client OS, server to call (or any other OS cleint) is nice, but this does not mean that they can be found on a peer-to-peer network and behave like a real server.

Under this situation (using Win 98 for a server) it is not advisable to change the files over the network. First copy them to the Vista Edit computer and then synchronize. Return using one of the many free synchronization applications that work on most of the windows releases.

    Example, http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Allway_Sync/allwaysync.html

There is no judgment of network functionality, if the Application is enabled and go to sleep while a file is open on Win 98 it will stay open. Closing the file needs to be done by the application.

  • SIN is not visible and 0 x 80070035 error reported when you try to access the visible computers on the network

I have a wired and wireless network, managed by a Wireless Linksys E3000 router.  The network consists of 3 computers connected wirelessly, a cabin phone Vonage and a 2T NAS connected wire.  The names of the computers and operating systems are listed below.

    (A) Dave-PC, Win7 Pro

    (B) CPT - PC, Win7 Pro

    (C) DavesLaptop, Win7 Ultimate

Computers A and B work quite as expected, they allow access to other computers and NAS.  The problems are air-conditioned and equipped with computer C.  Computer C cannot find the NAS and although he finds other computers, it generates an error 0 x 80070035 ("the network path is not found") when trying to access A or B clicking on the name of the computer in a window of the Explorer.  Interestingly, I can remote desktop in A and B via the context menu in the window Explorer of C.  I just spent a week trying to fix this.  I found several references to this problem on the Internet, but none of the solutions posted worked for me.  I have not found any recent posts so I hope there is a simple solution.

    Thanks in advance, Dave

Here is the solution for "error code 0 x 80070035 network path not found" on Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers. Click on the button 'START', select 'CONTROL PANEL' and go to 'DEVICE MANAGER'. Click on "NETWORK CARDS", then click on 'VIEW' and select 'SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES'. In the expanded view, you will see a long list of numbered "MICROSOFT 6to4 ADAPTER". My Windows 7 Professional Office had 200 of them. Right click and select 'DELETE' on all but 1 of them. You can only do 1 at a time, so it takes some time. When you have only 1 left, restart the computer and enjoy being able to see the other computers on your network, including the RESIDENTIAL group files.

  • The other computers in my house not to see the family as a source for their internet connection network; How can I restore this connection by computers (non-hotes)?

Since this morning, the other computers ('other' meaning other than mine, where "mine" is the one that has the connection to the router wireless connected to the internet) in my house does not "see" the family network.  In other words, only my computer has access to the internet.

How to restore the network family when other computers are not 'see '?

Looks like you are saying that your computer is connected to the wireless router, while other computers cannot.

This is the router that "hosts" network, then maybe the wireless feature has been disabled somehow.

Try restarting the router (unplug it for 30 seconds) and see if that helps.

I hope that the problem will be solved.
