  I found a work around for this problem, which does not require a reinstall of Windows, but you may lose your user account.
  Summary:
  The problem is that in Windows 8, the administrator is inactive by default, you will have to find a way to activate it. You can enable the admin account as an administrator,.
  However. Fortunately, (on my machine anyway) it seems that you can access your hidden from the Safemode administrator account. If your first set of objectives will be as follows:
  -starting in safe mode
  -Log in as an administrator
  -l' administrator, enable the account administrator similarly.
  -Restart your machine and you as an administrator outside of safe mode (normal mode).
  From here, you should be free to do what you want. Now that the admin account is active, you are allowed to type a password when prompted (by default that the password is empty).   About 3 months ago, I started to apply the zone enter the network password in Outlook when I tried to send/receive email.  I was using WIndows 2003.  I worked with my ISP, that would be to delete and recreate my email accounts (sometimes it would work for a day or so, but the problem will come back).  Microsoft has stated that they do not support Windows 2003 and recommended that update for 2007.  A day after the upgrade, the message reappears.  I had my speed of the laptop and hard drive updated and cleaned for any potential problem, but the problem still exists.

  Try changing the permissions on the drive for access.

  a. go to "Computer".

  b. right-click on drive J and choose Properties.

  c. click the 'Security' tab and see if your current user is displayed in the ' group or user names " list. If not, please click on the Add button, type the name of your current user account in the "enter the names of the objects to select " box, then click 'OK' to add this group.

  d. Select the user from the list, then check the box 'Allow' next of ' Full Control '.

  e. click on the Advanced button, and then click the 'Owner' tab. Then, press the button "Edit" .

  f. Select current user in the list and check the box "replace the owner of subcontainers and objects".

  g. click 'OK' to save the changes and wait for Windows to transfer ownership of all objects on the partition.

  h. click OK to save the changes and exit the Properties window.

  Check if you are able to access the drive.
