Impossible to uninstall old printer

My old deskjet 5740 broke and now I can't get the software to uninstall.  I have removed devices and printers in Control Panel, can't find any software for that he left, but he still continues to appear in the list of printers.  It seems to reappear only at random.  Any ideas?

Sorry that so many of you are having a similar problem with the old printer do not uninstall.

@jjmonks, that's right. Old print jobs may prevent the printer to uninstall. To check the uninstall, you might go to the Device Manager.

1. click on the Start Menu

2 right CLICK on COMPUTER

3. choose MANAGE

4. Select DEVICE MANAGER

5. go under the tabs, image and devices, printers and others to see if the older printer model is in there.

6. If so, RIGHT CLICK on the printer and choose UNINSTALL.

    Hi sarah,.

I suggest trying to remove the printing mode safe software:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

If this does not work, you can temporarily disable your security while in Mode safe mode software and try uninstalling again.

You must make sure that the print program is not running when you do this.

  • Impossible to uninstall a printer to my computer

I need to uninstall a printer I had on my computer years ago. When I click on the button uninstall, it says that the printer is in use and try again when the printer is finished printing. Only I didn't the printer for years. In my print options, this deceased printer appears as the main printer, and there are some things that I can't print because they are trying to print from this printer. I have no idea what to do now. Any suggestions?

    Hello

I suggest you try to uninstall the printer in a clean boot state. Make sure that you uninstall the printer that is no longer connected to the computer.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

  • Impossible to uninstall an HP printer/scanner

I have also try to uninstall a printer/scanner HP Photosmart. It seems that everyone is extremely frustrated with HP products because they do not work as well as they should. They seem to be poorly designed and not at all strong. The service backup of the company seems to be lack luster in the best of cases (as can be seen on many calls with frustrated users!). I suggest that all new HP non-functioning products should be returned to the dealer/company because they are not fair quality and market!

  • HP ePrint App: how to remove old printer from HP ePrint App

I'm trying to remove my last printer from my HP ePrint App, but whenever I want to print something from the old printer app still lists as an option as well. I have reset App Data, reinstalled the app, deleted from the site logged in and tried HP printer it slide sideways, looking for drop-down lists, etc... Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hey @Cpedron,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that you have an old printer that makes its appearance in the HP ePrint app that you no longer own. While I can't help you with the removal of the printer, I can help you prevent the printer to appear. To do:

    1. Reset the App data.
    2. Uninstall the HP ePrint app.
    3. Download the app again.
    4. During installation to validate the HP ePrint app for using a different e-mail address than the one you previously used.

This should avoid the printer appear. Using a different e-mail to validate will have no effect on the operation of the program otherwise.

Please let me know if this resolves your problems or if you have any other questions. If not, have a great day!

  • HP Laserjet 4050N: old printer - new windows

I have an old printer (HP Laserjet 4050N) and just got a new office with Windows 10. I have two printers connected to it but the 4050N simply won't talk to her. HP printer and scan doctor told me there is nothing wrong, but no test page will print or it will print from other programs.

HP Laserjet 4050 n is hooked up through the usb port.  I changed usb ports, changed cables and uninstalled and reinstalled programs from the official site of HP. I bought a USB connector series and still have the same problem. I even swapped the 6 ft USB connection cables between the two printers and the Epson print very well. Whenever I connect the HP, I get a message unknown USB. The printer will print within his own menu, but not from the computer.

It seems that something in the printer menu may prevent the connection but I don't know what else to do. I connected each port it has to the new computer and still have the same result.

These days, the best way to hang an old legacy printer is with an EIO network card.  You can buy them for little money on ebay.  You can use 600N, 610N 615N that everything will be cheap.  The card fits into one of the EIO housing at the rear and is very easy to install.  In fact looking at your post again once you have the model 4050N meaning originally, it came with a network card.  If there a just do a google search to configure the card.

  • Windows 7 and HP LaserJet 5 p - old printer printer does not work with this new computer

Just bought new PC and it has Windows 7.  Old HP LaserJet 5 p printer has always worked with last PC (XP).  This printer uses the parallel so purchased and plugged port with a parallel to USB printer cable.  Thought everything was cool when it seemed that the printer was recognized as "new device" but would not print my Word document.  Review of the Panel's PC recognized some other strange printer, so it has been deleted and I used the troubleshooter to find and download the old printer driver.  PC now shows the correct printer but my documents still won't print.  What can / should I do for these 2 working together?  Don't want to have to buy a new printer just to get something that works with 7.

I was too frustrated. Finally, I solved the problem. I bought a parallel to USB cable head Gear. First attempts do not work. Unplug the printer from the computer. That removing all printers (some I just created trying). Make sure that you do not have the test pages in the queue (cancel all), otherwise impossible to remove printer. Also update windows drivers (to add the printer section). Turn off the computer. Connect printer USB available on the computer again. Turn on computer. And. You DID!
