Improvement of the 'C' drive free space

As my Windows XP is an original, it updates almost always. So why the 'C' from my computer drive narrows very quickly. I also have an Antivirus software that updates every day. What will I do?

Maybe the tools here can help:

  • to know the amount of free space in a tablespace

    Hello

I'm learning to oracle 9i release 9.2.0.1.0. I had created a tablespace 'TOOLS' to use the default tablespace for Statspack.
I would like to know the amount of free space available in this table space. To do this, I ran the following query, but there was no selected lines:-

    SQL > select tablespace_name, bytes from dba_free_space
    2 where nom_tablespace = 'TOOLS. '

    no selected line

    SQL > select name from v$ tablespace;

    NAME

    EXAMPLE OF
    INDX
    ODM
    SYSTEM
    TOOLS

    USERS
    XDB

Can someone say the reason for this.

Strange that the difference of 0.625 MB does not appear in free_space...
But anyway, this tablespace is good as COMPLETE.

  • Analytics data drive free space is less than 15% > Vcops begin the deletion of data

    Hello

I'm new to vCOps, please bear with me.

We have vCOps running in a configuration of test for about half a year now. Recently, he has been given these administrative alerts on the virtual analytical computer:

«Storage disk (/ data) of free space is less than 15%.» vCenter Operations Manager will start the deletion of data to recover disk space. To avoid the automatic deletion of the data, add an additional drive.

I was looking into that, but I can't understand what data are removed or how vCOps chooses to delete data.
For example, VM Analytics metric history goes back only 3 weeks, some metric hosts history goes back to early August. Another metric story hosts return early September.

So I guess that vCOps has been clear data to recover disk space, but...

Is there a logic on what data are removed?

Is there a documentation on that?

We have 110 guests and about 1250 VM. What is the recommended size of the unit of storage/data?

    Thanks in advance.

It will be cleaning older data of historical metrology.

But if your installation is that fresh, more likely of allocated disk space is less than the recommended size.

  • Windows xp service Pack3 (Sony Vaio desktop computer) home, drive c running out of space, d drive free space a 95.5

How to move the C drive to the D drive or combine them?  I have only 2.39 free space on C, used 13.6.  D drive has 222 mb used and 95.5 free.  I have not all the applications installed on the D drive.  I was not able to uninstall applications that have been pre-installed by Sony that I don't use.

    Hello

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.

    a. make sure that you back up partition D want to be absorbed into the C (startup disk) partition. Data d should be deleted.

    b. go to the command line (start > programs > Accessories > command line) and type DISKPART

    c. on the fast line (DISKPART >), type:
    -LIST DISK
    -SELECT DISK [enter disk number]
    -PARTITION LIST
-SELECT PARTITION 2 (or the number of partition needs to be absorbed)
-DELETE PARTITION (This reformatted the partition to be absorbed, so make sure you have a copy of your files elsewhere)

    d. now, to extend the C: partition
    -LIST OF VOLUME
-SELECT VOLUME [enter the number of the volume assigned to your C drive]
-EXTEND (this will be resize partition #1 for all unallocated hard disk space)

    e. Type EXIT to exit DISKPART

I suggest you to check the below link.

Prompt compaction is triggered whenever you close OE 100 times.  So if you compact manually, you don't get invited again until you close OE for another 100 times.  Unfortunately there is no way to change this.  Dbx files shall be compacted.  If they are not, they will move on to an enormous size, and then get corrupted, so it is important to pack on a regular basis.

  • How to find the largest contiguous free space in windows xp

Hi, I have two machines, one running Win7, XP running.  I know how my highest contiguous free space is great under w7, using "defrag c: - one" in a prompt "administrator-started":

    C:\Windows\System32>defrag c: - one
    Microsoft Disk Defragmenter
    Copyright (c) 2007 Microsoft Corp.

Citing analysis on OS (C :)...)

    The operation completed successfully.

    Post report of defragmentation:

    Volume information:
    Volume size = 283,40 GB
    Space free = 60.49 GB
    Fragmented space total = 0%
More large size of free space = 46,29 GB

But, by using the same command in XP does not have the same statistics (I tried 'defrag c: - a - v' for a detailed report, but it does not always give this stat.)  Anyone know how to find out what is the largest contiguous amount of free space on a XP computer?

DiskPart.exe help - not enough space - I have more than 5 GB of unallocated space. trying to expand the C: drive

    Hello mark_kman,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

It sounds as if you have multiple partitions. Disk management and DiskPart extends the volume with a focus on the next contiguous unallocated space. For basic volumes, the unallocated space must be on the drive and must follow (have a plu sector offset number than) the partition with focus.

If you are looking at disk management, this means that, if you look at your partition C: the unallocated space MUST be located directly to the right of the C: partition. If you have another partition between the two, you will be allowed to extend the partition directly to the left of the unallocated space.

This could be a work around, if you have C: and D: and have files on D: but have more space.

-D: shrink to create just enough unallocated space to store your files located on D:.
-Create a new partition with unallocated space to move your files.
-Move your D: files to your new partition.
-Now, to delete the D: partition

This creates unallocated space between your C: partition and the new partition that you created to move your files.

-Now right click on your C: partition and extend as usual.

    Hope this helps

  • Is it difficult for oracle follow the news of free space in the tablespace Temp?

    !!!!

I know that temporary tablespace is 'temporary' and varies according to gender, creating index... etc. But, can't they say just free space in bytes.
Lets say my temporary tablespace size is 2 GB and if the DBA_TEMP_FREE_SPACE.free_space column is 500 MB. What does that mean?

    >

This means for a locally managed temporary tablespace, reduce the size to the amount of space currently in use; in other words, reclaim the space unallocated and allocated space is unused.

    TABLESPACE_SIZE - FREE_SPACE

See Shrinking a temporary Tablespace locally managed in the DBA Guide
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/tspaces007.htm
    >
The great sorting operations performed by the database can cause a temporary tablespace more and taking a considerable amount of disk space. When the sort operation is complete, the extra space is not released; It is just marked as free and available for reuse. Therefore, a single operation of large size can result in a large amount of temporary space that remains unused, once the sort operation. For this reason, the database allows to shrink the locally managed temporary tablespaces and free up unused space.
    . . .
Shrinking frees as much space as possible while maintaining the other attributes of the tablespace or tempfile.

I want to download movies for a trip on my iPad, but I don't have enough space.  I need to remove all music to free up space, but I don't know how.  Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Increase the C: drive and reduce the E: drive decrease?

    Hi all

My c: drive------fills constantly which is causing the overall performance of my laptop to be very bad. It is very slow! I don't have a lot of files etc on my C: drive, but it still keeps filling in shortly after a cleanup and defragmentation. My E: drive is constantly empty and I want to be able to use this space on my C: drive.

I don't want to move the files to the E: drive 'free' space on C: because I don't have a lot of files on C: to move.

Can I change the volumes of each drive to increase the capacity of C: and diminish the ability of e: or can I remove E: and give all the space on C:

    Any help would be appreciated?

    Thank you
    Colin

    Hello Colin

In General, you can do what you want and all this can be done in computer management > disk management.
I don't know what model of laptop you have, but for laptops with HARD drive recovery image, it is not recommended to change the partition structure because it can have a negative influence on the HDD recovery procedure. If you have ever portable model and you created the recovery DVDs then you can do this. For the installation of the OS, you can use recovery disk installation only.

    Back to your question.
In my opinion there is no great sense to change this structure of score because you can use the free space on the second partition for your daily activities. I don't know what you're doing exactly, but all your data like mp3s, pictures, movies, office stuff, and anything else can be saved on the second partition.
You can also set the second partition as the target of download and all files you download will be saved there.

Your sentence is a little strange to me.
    > You wrote
    > I do not want to move the files to the E: drive 'free' space on C: because I don't have a lot of files on C: to move.
So I wonder what you do to fill the C partition, but there is nothing to move. Can you please explain it to me?
