Improving a HP Pavilion G7?

Hi all!

I have a Hp pavilion g7 Notebook PC with AMD APU A6 - 3420M with Radeon HD Graphics 1.50 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 674 GB hard drive, run Windows 7 service pack 1.

That's all the info I know this topic, and all I know how to find, but if it takes more for a good answer, let me know where to look!

I wonder if it is what I can do to give my computer a little speech. I wish it works a little faster in general, and I would that my games to run a little more fast/more smooth.

I read that the upgrade of my memory and HHD could be cheaper, easier and give me more of a performance gain than upgrading my CPU, but I read on some blog that Google turned up. I don't know how true that is. I thought I can get some trusted here tips (I hope!)

Also, I think I can't go higher than 8 GB of RAM on this computer. I have two slots, a vacuum, and I wonder why I can not bigger than 4 GB Cannes for this. Just curious. I want to push my performance as much as possible without going through the same expense as the purchase of a new mobile high-end (and therefore expensive), while the budget for my upgrade is somewhere around just less than buying a new computer!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

~ James

Hello AlphaFite.I have included the page specifications for this model:

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03151850

Now you can move on to 8 GB of RAM. If you are currently using 1 slot 2 and slot 1 uses 4 GB, you can insert a second stick of RAM to 4 GB. After making sure that the drivers are installed and updated, you will be able to use the 8 GB of RAM, which will increase the speed of the performance. I would like to know if you have any questions or concerns. I have also provided a document containing the details of the update to RAM on a laptop. I'm only here to help!

    I have 2 questions:

    1. can I put my laptop up to 16 GB of ram? I have only 2 slots of 8 GB each. And I wonder if my laptop supports ram 2x8gb.
It's the ram that I have in mind:
    -HP DDR3L 1x8GB SO-DIMM, 1600 MHz, 1.35v

    2. then, I want to know if I can install an mSATA SSD and then install my OS on it.

    - A-Data 256 GB XPG SX300 mSATA3 ASX300S3-256 GM - C

If I install the OS on the WSSD, it will work faster?

    The maintenance manual:

    Manual

says it tops out at 12 GB, but I find it difficult to understand. There are 2 slots and I can't understand why you can put 8 gb in one and only 4 in another, but that's what he says and you don't believe it at your own risk. It is also said that you can install a WSSD mSATA but only if you have no more than 8 GB of RAM. Again, difficult to understand but there it is.

The manual shows no more where the mSATA slot. The system is set up to discourage them using the mSATA for a bootable disc slot. The BIOS does not directly define a WSSD as the disk to MBR, so you need to use some software tricks to make it work. These are very advanced configurations and not for the average user.

You would be much better to install a full-sized 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The instructions to do this are in the manual, but it is not something permitted of the customer. You would jeopardize the warranty and it requires extensive disassembly. HP and many other laptop manufacturers now offer units that allow for minimal if any client is upgraded. Yours is one of these, but at least the memory is accessible behind a service door. HP makes other similar models without service door at all.

    Hello

Review page 3 of this manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04439615.pdf

The specifications of your laptop: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03944557

    1. No, only up to 12 GB supported.
If you have a 32 bit OS, it is not possible get > ~ 4 GB of memory.
If you have 64-bit, you can put the 4 GB stick in the other slot with the same configuration to allow total 12 gb maximum.

    2. If you want to make the boot SSD drive, the easiest way is to replace the HDD with SSD (I use Samsung 840 Evo). It is not recommended to cache SSD boot drive.
Max 24 GB mSATA SSD disk cache is tested (with up to 8 GB of RAM only) supported in your model.

  • How to add to my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-590uk Usb 3.0

Hi does anyone know if I can improve my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-590uk for usb 3.0 and if so could you recommend a product that I could buy to do this.  Thanks in advance.

    One of them check it:

    http://www.overclockers.co.UK/showproduct.php?ProdID=CC-003-AK

This is to use a pci-e x 1 card. You have 2 these slots available. This will show you how do:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02255267.PDF

See the section on the replacement of a card.

Instead of plugging on the long black slot which is a video card plug into one of the slots black short. You have Windows 7 I think which means that you will need a driver, but that should come on a CD with the card. Will need you a power connector (molex) on the map, too.

    Hello

The following link shows the specifications of your machine:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03086806

1 RAM: currently it has 4 GB of RAM (2 x 2), you can upgrade to 8 GB (2 x 4). The following manual shows you how:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02968637.PDF

2 storage: there 750 GB at 5400 RPM, you can switch to the fastest 1 TB HDD or SSD even. In theory, you can use everything BUT please use existing brand for compatible.

3 CPU: please visit #2 of the manual above. You need number of right-hand side on page 81.

    4. video: sorry you can't, the chip is solderd to the motherboard and it came with the CPU.

Yes, you are good for up to 8 GB. From what I can tell that you have intel Core generation 2d so that you cannot install 16 concerts.

  • upgrade HP Pavilion dv6t - b 6, 00

    Hi all

Honestly, I have very little knowledge on the computer, so please excuse me if my questions may sound stupid to you.  I am looking for a laptop for the end of the game, and decided instead to buy a new, hopefully update my only current.

I want to improve my HP Pavilion dv6t - b 6, 00 in terms of memory, hard drive and even CPU processor and graphics (if possible).

I have read the manual in PDF and have led to several questions.

    1. He is described in the manual that I can improve my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB. But when I opened the top of the laptop, it seems to me that there are 2 slots for memory bars. Does this mean that I can spend a total of 16 GB of memory (2 x 8 GB)? And what type of memory who adapt and increase the performance of my machine?

    2. on the hard drives, I currently have the HTSS547575A9E384 from manufacturing with 750 GB, 5400 RPM Hitachi. I wonder can I replace it with a hybrid drive SSD or a SCSI one or at least a 7200 RPM with top cover? Which do you think it would be a better option for me?

    3. the graphics card I have currently is the Radeon (TM) HD 6490 M, and I would be upgraded to a Nvidia one.  It does not show on the manual how to remove and replace the graphics card. Can you please let me know to replace and what kind of options do I have?

    4. I would also like to upgrade the card on my laptop wireless in the hope of improving connectivity. I currently have an Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1030 (model: 11230BNHMW) installed on my laptop. Can I replace it with an Intel Dual Band wireless-N or AC one? On the market at the moment there is a card wireless with bluetooth module as well, so if I install one of them, it would affect my bluetooth connectivity?

    5. Finally, on the processor CPU, my laptop has the Intel Core i7-2670QM. If I want to update, should I replace the motherboard and graphics card also? Can you please show me what choice do I have?

I really appreciate your time and your help.

    Better compliance

    Deryck Ng

1 memory. You have the Intel version so the maximum is 16 GB (2 x 8) and your laptop uses DDR3-1333 and this type will work:

    http://www.Amazon.com/634091-001-parts-quick-notebooks-PC3-10600-1333MHz/DP/B008I6LNZY

4 concerts for 16 concerts will be a major upgrade according to what you are doing. 8 concerts would probably be a lot and much less expensive that you just add a 4 GB module. For the money by adding a second module of 4 gig is your best update you will get a double benefit of total RAM increased and a two-channel operation, transfers of memory are perhaps 8 to 10% faster.

2 disc. Yes, the drive 5400 RPM holding back you. You can not install a disk scsi hard. Your interface is SATA. You can install a mechanical drive of 7200 RPM, a hybrid car or a full disk solid state, one of which would be a big improvement, the SSD improved considerable, but at a cost. Post back with your budget and we can give you the best options.

    3. no update video card is possible. This is why the manual does not because there is no such thing. It's a chip welded directly into the motherboard.

    4. wireless. HP seriously limits the wireless options, but there is a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 option that is a map of 2.4 or 5 ghz "N". See Page 59. You buy exactly the card HP with a part number of HP.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Intel-Centrino-advanced-N-6230-abgn-WiFi-Bluetooth-3-0-wireless-card-/171367189306?PT=US_Internal_Network_Cards&hash=item27e647cb3a

5 CPU. It is the strongest and best you can install.  Intel® Core® i7-2860QM 2.50 GHz (turbo SC until)
3,60 GHz) processor (FSB 1600 MHz, 8, 0 - MB L3 cache, dual core, 45 W). Frankly, not worth the significant expense and difficult. The CPU you can already be very capable.

None of the improvements that I suggest will turn your laptop into a game machine. If that's your goal, sell your laptop and apply the product with something that has the features you need.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-4150er upgrade complete. Issue of processor and HARD drive

Hello. Sorry for my English. I'm from the Ukraine.

I want to improve my HP Pavilion dv7-4150er and I need advice from experienced people.

    Now, I have:

    -8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB),

-1 TB of HDD (5400 RPM)

-stock video (Mobility Radeon hd 5650 graphics card) card overclocked to 700 MHz GPU and 950 MHz Vram.

-CPU (mobile Quad Core Intel Core i7-720QM, 1716 MHz) in stock

    -BIOS F.29

    2 problems:

    -Slow CPU

    -Slow HARD drive

I want to buy a few HARD drives SSD for Windows and secondary soft and left for the data.

Get an increase in the performance of the system?

On the 'Intel' site, I read that my

    Intel® HM55 Express Chipset Mobile

is compatible with the more powerful processors. LINK

    And I have a great opportunity to buy Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13 GHz)

    But the laptop manual says:

720QM and 940xm - identical processors. The difference in 'MAX TDP' 45w/55w, 'Cache' 6 mb / 8 mb and clock speed 1.6 GHz/2.13 GHz

The Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13) will work properly in my laptop?

    or not?

I have read many articles on this topic, but the answer is not...

And I can't find information on HP F.29 BIOS specification.

How can I increase a CPU nested way (with another compatible processor) perfomance if 940xm is not compatible?

    Help me please.

    Thank you for your time.

Hello nickiblackmore.  I understand that you are curious about the upgrade of your laptop.

Here is a link to Guide of Service and Maintenance of your laptop.  It covers the disassembly of the laptop and can also show you how to replace parts if you upgrade the.

If you switch to a Solid State Drive of a standard 5400 or 7200 RPM hard drive, you should see a significant performance increase.  This is because a normal hard drive spinning platters and it takes time to locate data on the trays as they are moving.  A Solid State Drive has no moving parts and therefor can locate data much more quickly.

A CPU upgrade is a much more difficult question.  HP does not recommend that you perform this type of upgrade.  Laptops are generally designed with specific thermal and electrical needs.  If you change the CPU, it will probably create more heat and use a higher power that will cause you problems.  However, if you stick to a processor that is listed in the service (for example in your picture) Guide, you should be fine.  For example, you can choose one of the microprocessors found in the image to upgrade your laptop.  Also, keep in mind that the integral part upgrade as a CPU can affect your warranty (check your warranty here).

If you think that answers your question be sure to mark the post as solved.  This makes it easier for others to find answers to their questions.

    Have a great day!

  • Pavilion windows 8.1 stop question

I improved my new Pavilion TS 15 Windows 8 to 8.1 and noticed that the computer doesn't Cup not completely using charms bar, close button. The screen turns off but the Start button / stop and the wireless key remains illuminated. Both turn off if I hold the Start button. If I use/right click on the new button of windows desktop and click on turn off computer turns off completely. Anyone has any ideas what may be wrong?

Evolution of the situation. I made a few windows troubleshooting, not quite clear on what I did, except that product updates a few repairs. After troubleshooting, I found that the computer would be completely off via the power button in the bar of charms. It is all a little surprise but stop working whenever I tested it. I now keep my fingers crossed that all is now well.

  • HP Pavilion G6 (DDR3 AMD) updated?

I want to improve my HP Pavilion G6 (DDR3 AMD) for purposes of games. The OS is Windows 7. The processor is AMD APU A4 - 3305M with Radeon (TM) HD Graphics 1.90 GHz and has stored 4 GB ram (and a location empty). What updates, if any, will I be able to get for it in the field of processors, graphics cards, and adding RAM?

    Thank you.

The RAM is really all that you can update virtually, and that won't help much with the game.

Theoretically, you can replace the motherboard with this part number:

    683031 501

That would bump the graphics of the HD 7420 G HD 7660 G but you should also buy and install a CPU AMD 10 - 4600M. If you've done all that and has increased from 4 GB to 8 GB memory you a laptop computer that is not a gamer at all to one who is a very modestly able gamer.

You will need the maintenance manual:

    Manual

I was not able to find the motherboard HP Partsurfer or eBay. HP may be able to refer to a dealer. Expect to pay at least $250 for the motherboard and another $ 35 or more for the processor, roughly the same for the memory, the more at work. You'd probably better to sell your laptop and buy one that has the material you want.

    Hey guys,.

I want to improve my HP Pavilion 14-n061tx with a new SSD and more RAM. The problem that I am facing is if the motherboard of my laptop has an mSATA slot or not. I can't find information online about it.
