In SQL Server 2008 full-text search engine

I want to write queries by using the full text on the AdventureWorks2008 database search tool in SQL Server 2008.

When I right click on the affected table the full text index option is grayed out.

When I questioned sys.dm_fts_index_population to display tables with full-text indexes populated that it showed me that there is none and yet when I tried to create a single showed me an error message saying that there was already a full text index.

What happens here?

  • Binary search in SQL Server 2008?

I learned recently from binary search in one of my classes at school, and he raised a question in my head on access to a database using Coldfusion.  Lets say I create a table in MS SQL Server 2008, and I attribute table 'id' column, either the primary key auto increment.  If I make the statement SELECT coldfusion * FROM MaTable WHERE id = "idOfRow", would be a binary search in this case since are the ID in a sorted order?

    Thank you

    Ben

Oh yes, properly indexing your tables based on the way you access your data is almost always the fruit hanging low for the optimization of the database.  The concept lacks your previous statement is probably the primary key index only is never needed.  But if 95% of your access is really based on a field of unique key indicate, then it is probably enough for your needs today.

But as you start to work with more complex data, we must be sure to understand the other indexing options provided by the robust database management systems.

Just don't worry your head on the way which the index actually work under the hood.  Just trust that some very intelligent people have put a lot of time so that they work very well indeed.

    Hi all

Full-text search will always return no results in UCM after integrated with Oracle RAC and ASO... It made me crazy!

As a first step, full text search returned 0 results although the University Complutense of MADRID journal showed 2 documents have been indexed.

    1 select count (*) from idccoll1 return 2 records
    2 select count (*) from idccoll2 return 2 records
select count (*) return 2 records of idccoll1 3, but no trace back after 10 seconds

    5. Select DR TOKEN_TEXT $ FT_IDCCOLL1$ I; returns no rows

    Hello

There are reports of other users unable download as other SQL Server related downloads such as the Feature Pack for SQL Server 2014 and the download page of the Data Mining add-in for Excel 2013.

This should be a temporary problem. Try again in a few hours.

I get a notification of download of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 (KB2546951), and many times I try, the download will not be completed.  I used Microsoft Fix it and the problem is still not resolved.

    Hi, Longshanks1776,

Are you trying to download manually or by using Windows Update?

What Fixit did you use and is given an error code?  Please post back.

The update has already been installed?  Open Windows Update and click on 'View Update History'

If the update has been installed, you can right click on the update and select Hide when it reappears in the Windows Update list.

Tried to install the update as soon as possible?  Was there a message failed with the error Code #?  After the return, please.

    Open command prompt

    Type the following command

    SFC/scannow

    Press enter

Note: There is a space between sfc and / scannow

When the scan is finished, open run and type %windir%\Logs\CBS

This will open the CBS.  Search cannot repair file #.  Note the name of the file

Perform an in Place Upgrade to repair the files.

I get this error message when you try to update SQL Server 2008 R2 update error: WindowsUpdate_84b20001.

I have a suggestion for the knowledge base to rename the file %systemroot%\System32\Spupdsvc.exe in Spupdsvc.old, but the file does not exist in the first place. It's actually a fix for the problem 84b2000B, and my problem is code b 84, 20001.

I also tried with FixIt but it meets av problem and cannot continue. No message about it though.

When searching for the community I have fnd no obvious solution. I had this problem since September 2011 and the daily update fails every day since then. I have about 2 GB of free space (total Congress GB 139) on the HDD, 4 GB of RAM and is running Windows Vista on a laptop HP Compaq 6715 b (old since I bought this as a new computer at my retailer in December 2007). I use AVAST anivirus but he seems to have nothing to do with the problem of to. I also have drivers and firmware for hardware updated latest version a week ago but nothing seems to help.

I also have problem installing SQL server Express. And cannot install Visual Studio 2010 Pro SP1 probably as a couse direct of this installation failure.

Suggestions how proceed in diagnosing this problem help no doubt at some level. I'm completely stuck now.

Just, I solved the problem I had.

It turns out, there, there were two questions... first concealing the second.

SQL Web browser has not been activated.  solution: in properties SQL server configuration manager, transformed the startup to automatic mode and activated the service.

Microsoft Visual Studio project property targetdatasourcefolder had a server name that precedes the name of the folder. Removed the name of the server.  This works.

    Everything unfolds right now.

  • How to add the default value for the "Full - Text Search" box

    Hi all

I am looking for the ability to add a default value for the "Full text search" box in the search form.

    Example:

When the user accesses the search page it get default values for some fields (defined in the rule as default values) such as

    xField1 = txt1 and xFiel2 = txt2.

and Furthermore we need full-text = Hello world.

    Is this possible?

Another way that we use is to open the search by URL with coreContentOnly = 1 as a form:

    http:// < Server >/cs/idcplg? IdcService = GET_DOC_PAGE & to Action = GetTemplatePage & to Page = STANDARD_QUERY_PAGE & coreContentOnly = 1 & to xField1 = txt1 & to xFiel2 = txt2

It is possible to add full-text criteria here? Somethig like: & text = Hello World

    Thank you

    Leon

It is not possible in a very obvious way, not to mention that it is a rather strange request.  I can't really imagine a realistic use for this case.

Anyway, without a messy customization, you should provide a default query with an FTX inside element text setting (i.e. "IdcService = GET_DOC_PAGE & Action = GetTemplatePage & Page = STANDARD_QUERY_PAGE & QueryText =Hello World" "")

To do this in a profile in the secondary effects of the profile section, add the following:

    <$dpPromote("QueryText",>Hello everyone") $>.

  • best practices of vCenter 4.1 SQL server 2008

I was wondering if there is best practice documentation a SQL server 2008 vCenter 4.1 databases.  I am also looking to see if VMware provides a list of best practices SQL database maintenance or if they recommend suite Microsoft Best practice for SQL database maintenance.

This pdf file is still topical

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/vc_microsoft_sql_server.PDF

with the KB below, you should have a good plan.

also, I suggest you run the DB instance in simple mode instead of full recovery.

  • How to upgrade from Virtual Center 2.5 + SQL Server 2000 to vCenter 4.1 + SQL Server 2008 (R2)?

I plan the upgrade of an existing VMware Infrastructure 3 (Virtual Center 2.5 + ESX 3.5) to vSphere 4.1, and I'm stuck in the Virtual Center Server upgrade and its back-end database.

vSphere 4.1 is released only as a 64-bit software, so he needs a x 64 O.S.; This excludes an upgrade the existing server on-site.

The plan is to install a new Server Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 (or 2008 R2 if taken in charge), migrate the database and install 4.1 on the server vCenter.

The question: How can I migrate the database?

When you perform an upgrade of Virtual Center vCenter 4.0 on-site, the database is automatically upgraded; but this isn't the case when you install a new server.

VMware provides a utility to clear the existing database and import it into a new server, but it works only for SQL Server Express (which according to VMware must not be used in medium/large production environments); If this is not an option.

I am unable to find a support procedure to perform this migration.

    Can someone please help?

    Massimo,

I just went through it and found it to be a little pain simply because I forgot to VMware document simplicity...

You are right, the 'migration' tool does support SQL Server Express, I don't know why and niether are the two VMware Tech Support Agents I spoke with.

To anyone reading this. NOTE If you perform the upgrade / migration SQL Server Express via the Migration tool you MUST check the registry DbServerType key FIRST! If it is set on Custom Migration tools will ignore simply stages of database! See this VMware KB article for more information:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=1024380

Yes, it is the States 'failure', what he does not say, it is that the Migration tool will be 'Silencieusement Skip' your database.

End of Migration tools do call a standard SQL Server T - SQL backup command. YAY! You don't have to upgrade your existing 32-bit vCenter Server, do first just in case backup/snapshot, then run through the upgrade as if you were going to use the 32-bit version in production. This step will apply to any database schema change.

Build your brilliant new 64-bit server, install all of the bits and then use SQL Server Management Studio to make a backup of SQL Server 32-bit database and then restore it on your new 64-bit server. NOTE: Make sure that all SQL and vCenter services are stopped before proceeding with the backup and restore of the measures.

After the restoration of the SQL on your new server it reboot and everything will come back to life just as it is only now with all 64 bit!

    Hope this Helps!
