  • Windows 7 update disabling Intel my WiFi Technology adapter

I recently bought a Vaio laptop for WiDi features.  Out of the box, it worked as advertised, but after a tour of the various updates from Microsoft and Sony, the WiDi becomes invalid.  The message that appears is: My technology Intel WiFi disabled, please reboot your computer.  Another message that appears is: Intel My WiFi Technology: card not found.  I poured over all the seller community postings (Netgear, Intel, Sony) on this issue, but nobody seems to have a solution.  The only recovery method must do a restore of the entire system that puts everything back to factory settings.  As soon as I did this, it works for a bit, until the updates download again.  I tried to turn off the auto updates, and I have ensured that all the newer drivers have been installed (in the same after doing a full system restore), but nothing seems to prevent the adapter to become invalid.  I have no problem with WiFi, only the WiDi.  This issue seems to affect all brands with WiDi capabilities.  I don't know if it affects only Intel i5s or two i5s and i7s.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion to roll back the driver.  However, I have found that when I open the Device Manager, I managed to re - activate the device working properly and it was not necessary for me actually to restore the driver.

For additional monitoring of how each item in the startup of your computer effects tab
performance download and install Process Explorer.

You may need to find the specific system process that takes all (there are a lot of threads related to the 'System' process) of the CPU resources and slow down your PC.

To do this Process Explorer, try:
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Worth reading: the process system CPU spikes
    http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/archive/2008/04/07/3031251.aspx

Once you have Process Explorer installed and running:
In the task bar, select view and check 'show process Tree.
as well as the options 'display the lower pane '.

Move the cursor of your mouse over any column in the right pane and
Make a right click and check the following boxes:
    "Command line" and "Version".
(This will provide some of the detailed information you need)

Then click on the CPU column to sort processes by CPU usage %.
Then click on extend the process 'System' or 'Explorer' to expand and identify the specific subprocess using most or all the resources.

Then click the sub-process or process listed under the system process that is using most or all the CPU %. Once the process or subprocess is highlighted, do a right click and select the options listed: online search. This should bring that out there on the web about this process.

Note: some entries as solution, System (as explained above) process Explorer and svchost entries can should be extended to view details (sup process), in this case click on the + to the left of the entrance.

I am running Windows 10 (x 64) (build 10586) on my laptop HP ENVY TS of m7 with HP Support Assistant 8.1.40.3. I'm used to seeing the blue Support Assistant of circular background of question mark icon located on the right side of my taskbar Windows in the notification area, just to the right of the up-carat for 'display the icons '.

However, about 2 days ago the Assistant to support automatically downloaded and installed the latest version of himself. The '? It pinned icon Assistant decision-making support on the left side of my taskbar with icons for Windows Store File Explorer and other icons open programs.

I tried just dragging the icon Wizard help to the right of the Notification area of the taskbar, but that cannot be done. Please give me detailed instructions on how to get back the icon wizard helps to where I'm used to seeing.

    Hello

What are the icons in the notification area, you try to delete? Programs in the startup folder starts when you sign in to your profile. Try these icon right click or open the program and see if you can get "don't work don't not at startup" or "start with windows".

You can also check following sites:

Click Start-> Start up folder: see if whatever it is this that you do not want to load and connection.

Click Start-> Run Type & -> MSCONFIG-> ok select Startup and uncheck the programs you don't want to load at startup.

Icons such as LAN can be disabled from-> click on start-> network-> right-click Connections LAN and uncheck "show notification icon.

For Volume icon click on start-> Control Panel-> sound and Audio device-> uncheck "icon of volume of space in the taskbar.

  • Its icon does not appear in the notification area - no audio device is installed

NO INSTALLED AUDIO DEVICE & NO SOUND, VIDEO & GAME CONTROLLER NOT TAB ON DEVICE MANAGER

I had some problems with the sound on my laptop... sometimes the volume icon will suddenly disappear from the notification area and I can not add it even because it is grayed off the coast, unless I restarted my laptop... and after an automatic Windows Update I suddenly got errors on my sound whenever I play a game and try to mute it. After that, the volume in the notification area icon got a red X and it had the "NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED" message!

I tried everything I found on the net without success. I can't even enable or disable my audio driver because I have NOT any how 'audio, video controller & game' tab on my DEVICE MANAGER! I can't uninstall & re-install my drivers either because it would not uninstall first, even in safe mode. Reinstall the driver will give me an error message saying "No. MEDIA FOUND to this DEVICE DRIVER" !

I also tried to reformat my laptop and goes back to factory settings, restore my system to a point where I wasn't having problems still, it reboot several times, always check the Device Manager if somehow the tab for its controller will magically appear and try several times to reinstall my driver... This gave me No. SOLUTION !

I don't know what to do more and forums on other sites do no help either. I don't want to dirty my registry for fear of totally play my laptop.

HOW can I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM? I just got windows update and not only I have problems with the audio on my laptop but I can't play games on facebook either!

    Hi Annetalla,

You can uninstall the current sound driver from Device Manager and restart the computer to load the generic driver and check if it makes a difference.

    1. click on Start.

    2. type devmgmt. msc in the search box start and press to enter.

    3. right click on the speaker and select Uninstall.

4 restart the computer, and vista will load the generic drivers.

If an audio device on board, you will see the option in the BIOS. To do this, you need to read the manual that came with your computer or contact the manufacturer for this.
