In Windows 7 vs XP user profiles

In XP, using AD, I use to be able to delete a customer profile, log in as a user and pull down a fresh profile.  In Win 7, I deleted a user in the "folder of the user, but the profile does not delete and when the user logged in they were no longer in the user folder but had the old profile...". Where MS these hide?

By being connected as one other administrator account go to control panel > system > advanced system settings (left panel)

In the advanced options tab user profiles > settings button lists active user profiles.

  • Windows continues to change user profile folder

    Hi all

I'm facing a real headache. My computer continues to change user profiles folder every restart 2 or 3. For example, my user name is MSF\Bob. The user profile folder has been C:\Document & Settings\Bob. After a restart, Windows create a C:\Document & Settings\Bob.MSF then Bob.MSF.000 and Bob.MSF.001 folder and so on.

Someone has an idea why this is happening and how I can prevent this?

I thank very you much in advance!

    Best regards

Easy question to answer.  You simply have a corrupted profile.

When Windows detects a corrupted profile, it automatically generates a temporary with names profile as you describe.  Usually, these profiles are deleted when you connect your computer turned off, but not always.  The solution is quite simple.  You just need to recover your corrupt profile.   There are two general approaches.  One is to do a system restore to a point in time before the profile was first damaged.  The other usually involves the creation of a new user and moving profile data on to the new user (you may reset some of your settings).  To do this, choose one of the following articles and follow through:

"How to recover damaged Windows XP user profile"

PS: Corrupt profiles are almost always accompanied by alteration of the disc as well.  After your recovery, perform a check disk (chkdsk) with the "/ R" or "/ F" option

    User.Profile.cannot.Locate.and.All.photos.Music.Work.and.Data.Vanished

This is typical of a corrupted profile.  To retrieve, follow the steps in the following article:

  • Windows cannot load the users profile but you have logged on with the default profile for the system. Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

    Other methods:

Use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK then go back
and reset it to the Admin APPLY/OK - this clearly allows corruption. Do this several times. Do the same for others
accounts that may be difficult. If necessary you can also reset your password in the accounts.
Do not forget to leave your Admin account and the other to the desired level.

Make another Admin account with your password and use it to fix the others if necessary. (just for
repair, don't use regular account, not a safety valve) always keep a spare ADMIN account.

DO NOT LEAVE THE ENABLED LSA OR USE DAILY. If it corrupts you are toast!

If you cannot access your old account, you can still use an Admin to migrate to another (do not forget to always

  • How can I connect the new installation of Windows 7 for the user profiles on a separate drive har?

Original title: connect Windows 7 to the output of user profiles?

    I want to reinstall Windows

My user profiles are on a separate HARD disk
Is it possible to connect the new install of Win 7 to these existing profiles
Or I'll create all new profiles and just move all the files manually?

You can change the registry so that it points to your old profile folder. However, I suspect that this would cause problems because the SID and many registry keys would be incorrect for the current installation. I would like to move the folders manually.

  • I am denied logon to my windows account. "The user profile service has no logon. User profile cannot be loaded. "is my guest.

    Separated from this thread.

Ditto here, but with F8 there is only a list of drives, picking 1 is just going to the Win7 logon.  With F5, it has only Win7 and verification of memory. I tried a password reset disk, no luck.  I can't go in like safe mode startup options.  My repair and recovery disk does not work either.

What happens here? It worked fine yesterday.

Win7 Home Premium, 4 GB RAM,

    Sharon in Illinois

I finally managed to get a recovery disk to work and logged.  Once I was, I did a little poking around and discovered the apparently automatic installation of a critical OS update this morning.  I did a system restore, which allows me to keep my data.

2 things could cause this problem for me:

1 1 Update critical Windows was installed while I was trying to open a session Sunday.  Now as a general rule, I do not allow automatic updates, but this thing had in front of me somehow.

    2. on Saturday, I had downloaded and installed a major update to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI.

I don't have any right to day whatever this either right now until I can determine this problem, although there are notifications of updated to appear at home.

Unfortunately, your solution was to take a radical turn, and I feel your pain!  These days, it can take a week to get a system back to where it was, not to mention the loss of data, and no one has time for that.  Even with incremental backups, disk storage, cloud storage, it is always an awful thing to deal with.

  • User profile why does XP Home disappears

I would like to know which situations of XP Home user profile disappear?

Profile of user "will disappear" If Windows detects a corrupted user profile.  Usually, this means that the registry user hidden system file: C:\Documents and Settings\\ntuser.dat is damaged due to the failure of the disk, power glitches or whatever.  Generally, two approaches to recover is to restore the registry from a backup (by performing a system restore) or to create a new profile and copy the profile data user (with the exception of the corrupt ntuser.dat file) to the new profile.  These options are covered here:

Your user profile is a collection of settings that make the computer look and work the way you want. It contains your settings for wallpapers, screensavers, wallpapers, pointer preferences, settings of the sound and other features. User profiles ensure that your personal preferences are used whenever you log on to Windows. If you tried to log on to Windows and received an error message telling you that your user profile is damaged, you can try to fix it. You will need to create a new profile and then copy the files from the existing to the new profile.
