  In InDesign CS4, I start a text box and enter text.  When I hit the key "enter" to start a new row, InDesign automatically creates a thread of text into another text box.  I don't want it and the program never used to behave this way.

  Looks like you might be using the button ENTER on the numeric keypad, which is a column break (and if you have only one column per page or frame it passes then then one).

  If you do not use the numeric keypad, chances are you are on a computer windows laptop and you have a bios that maps the two enter keys together, and the behavior will change depending on the State of the NumLock key. If this is the case, let know us and we can tell you how to make custom keyboard shortcuts to work around the problem.

• What is the problem with my text box?

  InDesign lets me select the text box, but does not allow me to move. I've never had this problem before. I checked the items and they are not locked, I have no wraparound, related work or layers. I can move the text box if I use the arrows on the keyboard only. Help, please!  Oh, BTW, whatever it is... it has infected now all my InDesign documents... old and new... Help

• InDesign CS4 crashes when converting 1-column text box with a drop shadow to the col-2 (or more)

  I use InDesign CS4 in Windows XP Pro 64-bit, 6 GB of RAM. If I create a column 1 text box, fill it with a color, add a drop shadow, and then add text, everything is fine. If I try to change it to 2-columns (or), InDesign freezes/crashes. I thought at first that it is perhaps because the case was shot, but it happens even if the case is not turned. If I remove the shadow and try to change it, it works.

  Anyone know why this is happening or if there is a known bug or fix?

  XP 64 is totally supported. No troubleshooting should begin there.

• Impossible to move objects or text boxes in inDesign CC

  I was working on an inDesign document without problem, and suddenly, I was unable to move objects or areas of text with the selection tools. I could move only with the help of my arrows. The objects are not locked and are not on a locked layer. This problem occurs now in all my other documents, and create a document did not help.

  What version of InDesign are you using? What operating system do you use?

  Tell us exactly how you create your text box (frame).

  The easiest way is to choose the tool of Type (T). Click and drag an image where you want to go.

  But, if you place the text to another program like Microsoft Word, click file > Place. Select the file and click Open. Drag-and-drop placement of text cursor to position it on the page.

It's the same for the images when resizing or rotation re. You don't know what you have until its finished. If you are a little guess instead of see what you're doing while. Is there a way to change this, or does anyone else have this problem. Maybe it's just what does CC. But I'm not a fan... Can anyone help?

• The text in a text box in InDesign disappears when I resize or move

  I have a running footer in a text box on a colored background. I want to push the text up a little so that it is centered in the colored band. But when I do, the text disappears. It is not aligned to the baseline grid and the text wrapping is disabled.

  If you delete the color box, and then move the text, already done?   I think it may be an object hide it is the origin of the problem.

  I'm doing a text box appears in a PDF document in InDesign when the cursor of the user hovers over an another textbox, and I want it to disappear when the cursor moves off the coast of the first text box. I tried the following with adjustment of various, and it does everything just for me.

  Display a different button on turnover

  You can create a hotspot in which clicking or mousing over an object contains another object. To do this, create two buttons, hide one of the buttons and use the show/hide button action to show and hide the button target.

  • Use the Preview Panel to test the buttons.

  Should work...  On your last point (not 12?) I get the feeling that you have exported your doc as Adobe PDF (Print)? You must instead use (Interactive) Adobe PDF...

  Hello everyone. I have some frustrating problem which I assume is an easy solution. InDesign creates this empty space on the top of my text box function where to place the box. In this case, I found the pixel exact position where when I move the box one px upwards, it removes the space, but when I move it to the bottom space is added. Any ideas what setting that could be and why is it useful? At the moment it is more frustrating.

  Note: This text is linked to another text box, and nothing seems to change on the previous text when it has created space.

  Hi Adobe community.

  In the past, I have been using Adobe CS5.5 and when you use Indesign I would like to make a text box, text entry and when I need the text box to be narrower, as I'm adjusting the box with the text selection tool would be admissible and move and adjust to fit within the box like you were changing the text box. So, you could see the text as you did the box around it more small.

  Now, I just went to do the same in InDesign CS6 but when move the text box, it simply moves the text and the text moves with it (do not meet with setting the text box), so I'm left guessing where the text will be sitting and it provides a few going until she I understand...

  So what I am asking, is there a box I need check preferences or something in CS6 so that text moves I adjust its bounding box, as it moves in CS5.5?

  Please help because it really bugs me!
