Indicator on the previous tab open?

Is there a way to know who you last tab was opened before the tab currently? Sometimes I quite s a few tabs at the top on the same site and it's easy to forget which tab was the last one you had open if you need to go back for more information, etc.

This would be a handy feature, that I feel, rather than having to memorize or hover over each tab to read the pop up information, a small asterisk on the last tab previously would save time. Maybe someone created an add-on that does just this function?

If you have opened the individual links in new tabs and you must return to the source tab, you can install to the owner tab. He puts the tab origin as the first item in the history of the back key (right click on the back button is the easiest way to access).

  • The previous tabs open empty like new tab

I had a few open tabs and whenever I open Firefox, all these tabs open without problems. I'm on windows 10. Since this morning, when I open Firefox, open the tabs but they are all empty (new tab). Also, Firefox does not work - I can not open a new tab and when I click on one of the tabs of the old that says 'New tab', it does not open. Only the first tab is usable. I also have a message in a popup "a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue. "

    Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/tabbox.xml:713

When I stop the script, Firefox will NOT open anything. I copied the previous.js file to a new sessionstore.js file, and it still has the same problem. I even tried to get Firefox to open a few days sessionstore.js file (it was good), and I have the same problem. I even removed Chrome on my computer, and I get the same problem. How can I get my tabs previously open to work again?

    Thank you

It is good that you have backed up the available session history files.

Do you know if your Firefox updated from 49 to 50? Who should be indicated in the Panel configuration "Uninstall a program" or on the troubleshooting information page, either:

    • button '3-bar' menu > '? ' button > Troubleshooting Information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

Your current version number would be in the first table in the page.

Could test you mode without failure of Firefox? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily disables extensions, hardware acceleration, and a few other advanced features to help you determine if they are at the origin of the problem.

Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button '3-bar' menu > '? ' button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

    and OK reboot.

Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

    Any improvement?

What address is the dialog box list? For example:

    • addresses starting with the name of the site usually are features/functions of the page
    • addresses to other sites often (but not always) are advertising networks - using an ad blocking extension can help to solve problems with slow or dysfunctional ad network scripts
    • addresses starting with chrome: / / are usually part of Firefox or an extension you have installed - the Skype extension sometimes causes this problem, for example

Another common cause of errors in script does not work on Windows 7-10 is the feature of mode of the Flash player plugin. This feature has the security benefits, but it seems to have serious compatibility problems on some systems. You can disable it using the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. On the right side, find 'Shockwave Flash' and click on the link for more. Then uncheck the box for "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" and try it for a day to see if that helps you.

  • Why can't the next tab open when I select the following link?

I use several browsers, not just Firefox. One of them automatically opens a new tab when I click on the next site that I want to transfer, that is, I don't have to click to open a new tab first. Note, it also keeps the active tab open.

I love this feature and want in Firefox, at least as an option.

In Firefox you can middle-click on a link with the wheel on the mouse to open the link in a new tab.
Only links that specify a target window open in a new tab.
All others open in the same tab.
If it isn't on by clicking on the links on the Google results page and then you can change it in the Google search parameters (where the research open) (gear in the top right corner icon).

Thus, every once in a while, I have a lot of tabs open, FF freezes and it restarts or Windoze requires a reboot. Very good except when one an update of FF is staged, or as this time I lose my tabs of 30-40 because apparently, I need to know that the Pocket came to Firefox. Restore previous sessions, greyed out, I appear to be roasted. Be sick of it by now, losing most is great but I really wanted some of them sitting there without having to be on bookmark, no way to get my tabs when this happens almost once a week now?

Sorry for the delay in responding. Could you're looking for a historical file of session before update here:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button.

In the window that launches, scroll down and double-click on folder sessionstore-backups . Save all the files here to a safe place, such as your Documents folder.

Note: If you do not see a current (updated in the last few minutes) the file here recovery.js, then your Firefox cannot save the session correctly history. Upgrade.js -build_id - for example - upgrade.js - 20150525141253

This file must contain the windows and tabs in Firefox session which was live during your last update.

No recent data do you like that?

This file is not human readable, but can be 'paid' for your current session history file restore the session of that time. If this sounds to it's worth a try:

    (1) upward to the main floor of the profile folder (whoever opened since Firefox, until you have clicked on in sessionstore-backups).

    (2) leave this window open, go back to Firefox and:

    (A) as appropriate, to bookmark the tabs that you will want to come back (Ctrl + d to different tabs, or save all of the tabs in the window, right-click on a tab > bookmark all tabs)

    (B) then exit Firefox completely using either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Break while Firefox finishing his cleaning, then rename sessionstore.js to something like sessionstore.old (in the case where this all else fails and you need it back).

    (3) copy the upgrade.js - 20150525141253 (or newer of same named file) in the profile folder and rename sessionstore.js

    (4) start Firefox back up again. You may need to use history > restore previous Session if Firefox does not automatically restore windows and tabs.

    Success?

Firefox updated itself randomly today and some settings changed. I always restore the tabs that I've used, and whenever I open a new tab it would show a blank page. • My 1st tab is opened in Unicode mode, but the 2nd tab opens in the West - WHY? Need both in Unicode.

My home page has two tabs; the 1st is Google.com and the 2nd is webmail.juno.com.
When I opened in IE8, the two legs have the Unicode (UTF-8) encoding.
When I open it in Firefox, the 1st has encoding Unicode (UTF-8) BUT the 2nd tab has ALWAYS WHY Western encoding?
I always have to manually go to View/Text Encoding and change each time.
IE8 does automatically - how can it be fixed in Firefox so the two tabs always open in Unicode?

Tabs open and closed are stored in session data in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • by default the new tab opens to a page not available

Greetings, everytime I open a new tab, the page always headed "chrome://quick_start/content/index.html" which would be fine except that the page seems not to exist, I think it may have been hijacked by a "update module false" while my mother used my laptop, anyway I tried to remove all traces of the update and cancel all changes However I can't seem to get this right, even if it is to direct the new tab to a new site... for example google.com that would be helpful, thanks in advance! Very much appreciated.
