I have two computers. Those infected with Windowx XP Home Edition. All of a sudden (yesterday October 18, 2010) the ThinkPoint popup appeared. On my own computer, I looked for solutions and has been able to stop the service through the Task Manager. Then downloaded MalwareBytes. He scanned and detected 5 elements. He then opened a text window indicating that the 1 point might be deleted and needed to restart the computer. So, I followed the instructions on the window of MalwareBytes. But after reboot, a black screen. If he walks again and a black screen. F8 works but after I chooseany mode (safe mode, previous configuration, etc.) a black screen again. I looked for solutions and all assume them safe mode or any different normal windows mode, it works. My problem is that no boot option (same normal Windows) seems to work. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

  • Antivirus8 infected computer

original title: I bought the Antivirus8, downloaded and it infected my computer. What should I do to solve the problem?

When I press F8, the Advanced windows options shows, then I select Repair my computer. But, instead of another page that shows for me to select Restore Dell Factory Image, it takes me to a wallpaper with an empty computer icon and underneath there is other words "other users".

First, contact your credit card company and dispute the charges.
Press F8 and select "safe mode with network. Then download Malwarebytes and run a full scan of the system. Or you can use rkill and hijackthis to complete the process of Antivirus8 (av8.exe). Instructions for removal are available on these web sites:
How to remove Antivirus 8 at blogspot.com
    Antivirus8 removal instructions on bleepingcomputer.com
HijackThis this entry should be similar to the following:
    O4 - HKCU\... \Run: [AV8] C:\Program Files\AV8\av8.exe
If you cannot restart your computer in safe mode or use rkill and hijackthis and then use this Antivirus8 activation code:ABC12-DEF34-GHI56-JKL789 and try to activate the program. Version enabled blocks anti-malware programs.
    Good luck!

Please im begging for help from someone
    Thank you
    Alex Minuti

Sirefef is a very harmful infection with many variations.  It sounds like your computer may have a rootkit.   The two programs recommended by Shenan Stanley are good and worth running since you probably have multiple infections, but it is unlikely that they will remove Sirefef.

I suggest that you run these two tools
    Windows Defender in offline mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/what-is-Windows-Defender-offline

    Also TDSS Killer
    http://support.Kaspersky.com/5353?El=88446

Note that once the infection is removed, it is very likely that additional repairs will be needed. Sirefef often removes some registry keys that affect the Windows Firewall and some services.

The best solution is to reinstall the operating system. Check in the Task Manager (I don't know the name of the process) and kill the process. Then, run antivirus.

You can also check in the start option and remove it. Restart the round and run antivirus software. Sorry, mate, but it's hard to say how to remove it through this virtual forum

  • My computer has been infected with "Windows Vista restore" what should I do to get rid of him?

The fake security program Window Vista restore"scans my computer and tells me I have several hard drive errors.  It has blocked access to my computers system restore and defragment utility, appeared to 'clear' all my files (like images taxes) and I get the error pop ups telling me to turn off the computer because "hard drive failures.  When I click on cancel, x or anywhere on the box, the system stops.   When I restart, the same fake program starts begins to scan my computer again.  I tried running my Trend Antivirus scan and when the scan is about 99% complete, the fake program does not scan continue.  What should I do to get rid of him?  I'm asked to pay for an upgrade of the software, but have not entered my card number.  I'm afraid that my data has been hacked... including the loss of my photo albums.  I'm currently installing updates to windows on the computer.  Will he get rid of it?

    Hello

    do you mean Windows Recovery?

    read this:

Windows Vista Recovery is a program of analysis and optimization of fake computer that displays false information in order to scare you into believing that there is a problem with your computer. Recovery of Windows Vista is installed via Trojan horses that display fake error messages and warnings of security on the infected computer. These messages will state that there is something wrong with the hard drive of your computer, and then suggests that you download and install a program that can solve the problem. When you click on these alerts, recovery of Windows Vista will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer.

Once installed, Windows Vista Recovery will be configured to start automatically when you log in to Windows. Once started, several error messages appear when you try to launch programs or delete files. Windows Vista Recovery will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will then find a variety of errors, he said, he can't fix until you purchase the program. When you use the defragmentation tool called it will specify that it should run in Mode safe and show then a background in Mode Safe false who pretended to defragment your computer. As this program is a scam do not be scared by buying the program when you see its alerts.

Follow the removal instructions, including how to "unmask" your data

Download, install and update as much of the following as possible until your infections are cleaned.

    1. The free versions of these scanners will detect infections and clean your system; no need to buy
    2. Scanners different malware detect some malware that other scanners do not have.
    3. If you are unable to download malicious programs,
      • change the name of the Installer before you save the download on your hard drive, and
      • Once installed, go to the installation to the program folder and change the name of the executable file of the program (i.e. for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, change mbam.exe to xyz - mb.exe), then update the program and run the scan.
      • You may need to download on a non infected computer, change the name of the Setup program, copy setup from a CD or USB and transport to your system for installation.
    4. Some stubborn malware should be deleted in Windows Safe Mode with setting network '. Warning: download all the tools first, then disconnect your modem before entering Mode Windows safe, as your firewall and AV/AS probably does not load mode Windows safe. See:

If they cannot find or cannot remove the infection (s), post it in one of these specialized forums using malware removal:

  • My computer sends messages to groups of people when I'm offline. How can I stop this?

My computer is send emails to people when I'm offline. How can I stop this? It does same all night when I'm asleep and the computer is closed.

How do you know it's your computer?

If you think you will realize that it is impossible, so you need to find another explanation.

In fact, the phenomenon is quite common. What is happening is that a computer is infested with malware that uses the address book on the computer to send messages infected to the names in the address book. So you have the bizarre situation that you can receive malware apparently from yourself. Take great care not to open any message to yourself you know that you did not send.

The best thing you can do is to warn your friends about what is happening. Try to give them the object that is used in false infected mails. You may be able to identify which computer is infected. It depends on how many addresses in the address book of the infected computer. Eventually, the owner of the computer will be aware of the situation, the measures and messages will stop. Of course, at that time another computer can get infected and begins a new wave of infected mail.

The simple tips that follow can help you or your friend (s) to stop the epidemic

Download and install Malwarebytes (free version for individuals only), updated definitions and run in safe mode. Disable other security software while you do the analyses.

  • How to remove a computer from my working group under XP and Windows 7?

We have recently implemented a network composed of our three computers (2 XP) Home Office and 1 Windows 7 to share files and printers.

However, we found its malfunction and could not share what we expect.  One of the reasons, we can see it, could be one of the computers have been infected.

So, we try to remove this computer from the working group.

However, no matter how hard I searched on Internet, there is no way to remove the infected computer's existing working group.

There that experts can help us?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

You cannot remove a computer from a working group, but you can change the name of the working group.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/295017

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/51711-workgroup-name-view-change.html

But that will not necessarily mean that they are not accessible by other computers on the network, or it will necessarily make the other less likely to be infected through this PC computers.

The only way to "withdrawal" of a computer on a network is to unplug the network cable or remove the name of the wireless network.

If you are concerned about a possible infection, you must get the malware to day and scan for malware protection.

However, I suspect it's more likley your problems are caused by the lack of knowledge in the topic network different Windows operating system. This can help...
