• Open / convert .cwk drawing file into something else than Clarisworks

  Hello

  I have a problem and can't seem to find a solution.

  I have over 2000 + cards of Member (with images) stored in Clarisworks (.cwk) drawing files. Each file contains 10 cards of members with a photo that could be printed on paper card and laminate to make a membership card. so I have more than 200 of these drawing .cwk files.

  I need to be able to open these .cwk files in another program or convert them to another program that is not interrupted so that I can entrust the task of taking every photo, cropping and at a savings. JPG file with the dimensions of the specific pixels.

  I can't currently entrust this task as no one can open a .cwk file...

  Does anyone know how to open these drawing .cwk files in another program or convert them?  I found ways to open documents to simple text but nothing that can open files of drawing .cwk with embedded images.

  I also have access to an old Mac with the program of Clarisworks to open these files... Is it possible to convert it into a usable format more updated using this program?

  I have something to play with, but I can suggest that if you have a computer OS x can open AppleWorks, you probably can click on the picture, copy it and open preview and place n command to create a new file of the image in the Clipboard, and then save it in a file with the name of the person.

  Preview will have the added benefit of saving to any size compatible format and file you want.

  A good workflow would be to create an empty (white) image in the right size, the resolution format and file preview and paste it into that. You should get the handles on the image to be able to resize to the borders of files. And then do a record under. Organize a list of parallel text of the names of all card holders, so you can save typing (and errors) to copy and paste into the names of image files.

  There may be other solutions you can think of that work better in practice once you have made a few.

  Background:

  I use the font software called Typetool 3 and Illustrator CS5.5.

  I use these on Windows 7, 64 bit.
  It is the entry level published by Fontlab font software.
  This software accepts work through the .eps file format in theory and practice.

  However: he refuses illustrator .eps CS5.5 files.

  When I watched this I came with two very interesting things: first illustrator CS5.5 files are about 13 times the size of the CS5 files of this type (a simple font glyph-comparing a kbfile 29-30 to a file of 420-450 KB in cs5 and cs5.5 respectively).

  Two thing came to watch what these data were (by opening it in a text editor). It seems that some of the data the XMP data, data of illustrators for tracking things like who created the file, right of copyright and other. In info document many of these fields were empty.   I don't know enough about programming postscript to navigate in the file or delete the offending data. And I don't have time to do during several glyphs.

  As a matter of opinion I don't like that my software is particularly identifying information potentially (which is one of the intentions of XMP data, to provide identification) without notifying the creator, and still less afford to stop from doing this. I have not the spirit or her penalty-except for the fact its messed a workflow based. If someone edited these data without my knowledge, say with a virus or heaven forbid manually, it would also be embarrassing. Have a check that identifies me to send these data would give me something to know if this situation happening in reality. In addition, for a situation such as mine-communication between programs in a closed environment, where no one else is involved, its useless and waste... like putting gold rims on what is supposed to be an ox-cart.

  I plan to go to Fontlab to later this week, because it's as much their question as it's Adobe. I know THAT XMP is both a valuable and popular - technology have a work around for this situation seems this would be a good idea. If necessary I can attach files of work for comparison.

  I save as EPS (Illustrator version 3). This should be compatible with almost any software that supports PSE.

• My security software and the OS are still ongoing, I worry about something else?

  I keep always my operating system and security such as AV and firewall up-to-date software. I know that I'm not sure at 100% there (failure of Sony's PSN, anyone?), but is it enough for a typical user? Have I not to worry about something else?

  Security is never passive and there are a multitude of practice "safe hex", you need to follow. But it would take more than a forum response to address adequately all these so I'll only address your patchwork.

  Keep your software operating system and up-to-date security is only part of the battle. Today, most malware is distributed via the Web, and most of these exploits are through third-party plugins such as Java, Adobe Reader/Acrobat, Flash, Quicktime, etc. Many of these third-party plugins come pre installed so many users perhaps even not aware of their existence. But the left unpatched, they can quickly lead to infections silent drive-by.

  Qualys has of an online tool handy (and free) that will check the level of patch of these third-party plugins and let you know what it update: https://browsercheck.qualys.com/

  Other installed software can also cause a problem. Secunia Inspector online is a quick and free way to check the status of patches of these: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/

  Visit both of these sites at least monthly for a quick Checkup will help to ensure that all the necessary critical patches are installed.

  You don't mention the Word version

  In Word 2010, for this doc, file > Options > display

  Highlight print options

  Uncheck "print doc properties.

  If it occurs for all documents, with Word closed, locate and remove the normal.dotm template, it will be re-created the next time that you start Word

• Try to work with the EPS file in CS5

  I'm completely confused. I just bought a set of borders since an online site. The borders are in EPS format. However, when I open them in Photoshop and Illustrator, they are all on a single layer.

  I tried to select those that I want to use in Illustrator the using the direct Selection tool, and then to copy and paste it into PS. Only parts of the border are coming along. I'm getting lines instead of the entire block of color (they airmail stripes). If I try to use the "Select" menu or the wand magic, almost everything is selected, since all borders are borders plane red and blue!

  I don't have a lot of experience in Illustrator (almost none) so I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

  What I'm trying to do is to place borders around the old postcards in a digital collage.

  On the other hand, I wonder what kind of clip art service presents a giant bunch of borders as an EPS file, instead of like, say, png, or at least in layers. I just throw $5 into the sewer?

  $5 seems like a lot of monet for this simple file. But $5 isn't much these days and $5 is not a big loss.

  I see that you have an old version of Photoshop Extended. CC of Photoshop can restore the fabric of many, but which will set you back $10 each month.

• CS6 PC saving .eps files is painfully slow

  Hi - I work in Illustrator CS6 on a PC and find the .eps files is very slow.

  • I don't have the option to save as .ai file, my company is demanding that save us as .eps
  • It's okay if it's a new file or I save changes to an existing file, it is still slow
  • No matter if I save in our network or my office file, it is still slow
  • I use Extensis Suitcase Fusion 3 although it is generally not open. I read that this can significantly slow down the process. I have no control over the fact that I use version 3 the most recent vs - I use that gives me my business. If someone out there has had this experience and found it better with the latest version of suitcase (6, I think?) please let me know.
  • Extensis Suitcase Fusion is the problem, that someone can recommend a program of font management that works best with Adobe products and will mitigate this slow? If I can show a valid reason for the purchase of different font management software, I may be able to convince management to switch to a different software with our next update.

  The Extensis software on your machine is now 3 versions obsolete and probably has something to do with your problem. Try to leave, go into the Plugins folder in the Presets folder application and move the plugin Extensis on the desktop. HAVE to reboot and see if that helps.

  In my opinion, they say you should do a version with the spot color Pantone colors probably chosen company and a version with the closest CMYK equivalent.

  But you can ask them while you ask why they want an EPS rather than the PDF or HAVE. EPS is a bit outdated (for most applications except those where it is formally required for the target application, or something).

• How to record a 2'x 3' eps file small enough to E-mail

  Hi all

  I created a 2'x 3', poster in photoshop and you need to send it to print. They asked a .eps file, but my size is 508 MB. I can easily upload to dropbox or cloud to adobe, but I feel that there is an easier way to reduce the size of the file. Can I make a picture smaller and hope that it will intensify if necessary? I have incorporated pixelated photo too.

  The world of pre-press files are usually too large to email. Do not try. The desired reduction would probably destroy the quality of your work, because you lose 99% of it to bring it down to 5 GB.

  Use DropBox or something like it, or a sender of simple file as Adobe send or Wetransfer.com. These are simple and reliable.
