Infrared port not working not not on Satellite A100

Hi all

I recently bought a Toshiba A100-158 with a pre installed Win XP Home OS. I installed a new version of Windows XP Pro and then installed all the drivers Toshiba and software again. The thing is, I don't seem to have active infrared and I find no infrared driver for this model that I can use.

I am using the Nokia PC phone to synchronize data with my laptop but it says that it cannot open IrDA media. When I go to Device Manager I don't see any device for IrDA. And if I go to the Control Panel, there is also no specific infrared configuration. But the manual says that this model has an IR port that I can see also here.

Is there a driver I'm missing or I have it installed correctly?

Best regards

Joel

Hello Joel

If you check Device Manager, you will see that this infrared device is not listed. That article means that IrDA is not available. Data transfer, you can use Bluetooth if BT is available on your phone.

Good bye

  • Bluetooth does not work anymore on the Satellite A100-683

    Hello

I'm new to this forum. I am from the Netherlands so my English may be a bit poor. Sorry about that.

    The problem:

In 2006, I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-683 9. It has integrated Bluetooth, a good processor and 1 GB of RAM. It works great, even bluetooth. A week ago stopped working Bluetooth.

Device Manager, reinstall the drivers, the recovery cd, ConfigFree, tried everything without success. No Bluetooth. The laptop has a chip integrated Bluetooth 2.0. It works, but not now. Boats a year ago, because he has "one year warranty".

Is there anything I can try to fix the Bluetooth?

  • Re: Internal speakers no longer work with RealPlayer on Satellite A100

It is probably a very simple question, but I can't work on the answer. I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100 running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. I have often read audio from RealPlayer and generally make through an external sound card and external speakers (accessed via a USB port).

Listen to RealPlayer, in this way still works fine. However, if I boot my laptop with the sound card and speakers not plugged into the USB port, and then try to listen to a file with RealPlayer, using internal speakers of the laptop, I get no sound at all from RealPlayer (although, until recently, I used to get the sound in this way). Other audio players, such as windows media player, give always his time through the card its external & speakers (if they are plugged into a USB port) and also through internal speakers of the laptop (if the external sound card and speakers are not connected).

The problem seems to arise only when I use RealPlayer and in this case, whereas before I could listen with the internal speakers or through external speakers, but now I can only listen through external speakers. No doubt some setting has been changed. Any ideas on how I can recover the ability to play RealPlayer files via the internal speakers of my laptop. ?

As it seems that it affects RealPlayer I would say that you uninstall, best done with a few extra tools to clean the registry also, reboot. Then download the latest version of real player, install and test.

Think you're right, that there has been some changes options.

  • Synaptics touchpad is not working properly on the Satellite A100-635

My synaptics touchpad is not working properly my mouse works very well but does not work in every corner of the touchpad for special functions.

I tried to set it up again but it had no result, also I downloaded a new driver, but it had no results to. My buttons multimedia keys like play/pause or stop are not no longer works.

These buttons/keys stopped working at the same time as the touchpad. Checked with NOD 32 pro virus and spyware with ZA pro ==> no results.

Who can help me with this problem?

    Hi Jarno

Do you know how many different Satellite notebooks have a series? Drivers and tools are not the same for each of them. Because of this you should also tell us that you have.

According to your description, I can tell you: install OS using support and recovery delivered with factory settings, your mobile phone must be configured correctly.

  • Re: LAN not working not not on Satellite A100 - 02K PSAAQE

    I have an Equium A100 - 02K, model PSAAQE - 00N00LAV, S/N 57015844 Q under Vista Home Premium.

Recently, the connection to the LAN via the cable didn't even if wireless internet connection still works. There is no light on the LAN plug when it is connected and the router does not show a connection. The running Task Manager shows that there is a problem with the LAN driver. I reloaded the driver but the Task Manager still shows a driver problem.

Is it a hardware problem or is there still some measures I can take for example, check in the BIOS?

    Hello

I think that it s only a software problem.
Please go to Device Manager and uninstall the network driver (you can select the NIC and could remove it too)
    Reboot the laptop!

By the way; This error code appears in the Device Manager near the LAN card?

  • FN keys not working not not on Satellite A100

I posted a question in February with little success in a solution.
The fn on my laptop keys do not work, the only time where that work is while the computer starts up.

Once my screen arrives mysteriously stop working. I was told to download all sorts of things on this site that I have but everytime I go to install them they will not let me.

If someone did a reflection on the answer to this question please post.

I need to know what I need to download and how to install it.
Pretty simple, please answer with these answers.

I think you are talking about this thread: right?
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=110230#110230

I see that you are not able to reinstall the new VAP published on the page of Toshiba.
As others said, the old VAP must be removed first.
Don t know exactly why you are not able to remove it, but above all a few important files might be a pity if this procedure is not possible

So I would recommend using the recovery CD, and then wipe the entire HARD drive, then install the OS from CD of restoration. After installation and configuration of the OS remove the VAP of Vista, and then install the new version.

In addition, you should check if your BIOS is up to date.

  • SD card does not work in on my Satellite A100-163 5-in-1 card reader

    Hello

I recently bought a 1 GB SD card and tried to plug it into my A100-163 built-in 5-in-1 card reader. Nothing appears in my computer. I tried to go to the Device Manager and, under "drives" "Secure Digital Storage Device" with a bit of yellow! Select this option. I tried updating the driver Module SD, but whenever I do that the installer comes up with an error, basically saying he can find SD Secure Module.msi. He tries to find in a dark temp folder that involves me Installer is not extracted properly.

Can someone help me read my SD card? Help, please!

UPDATE: on the occasion of the strange, it appears in my computer as "Secure Digital Storage Device. When I double click on it, it says:

"E:\ is not accessible. The request cannot be performed because of an i/o device error."

    Thank you.

    Mike.

    Hello Mike

One thing confuses me. If the unit has the multi card reader factory settings must be configured correctly. You use your own installation of the OS?

In any case, try to remove device from digital storage secure from Device Manager, then restart the device.

  • Driver Bluetooth installs not on Satellite A100-466

I buyed this laptop yesterday and the only thing I still need to install is the stack of BT and BT drivers.
When I hit fn + f8 to start bluetooth it starts the installation but once he starts to install drivers bluetooth windows gets crazy and constantly detects hardware and installs and reports a problem.

There was a problem installing the hardware and starts over and over again until I finish the installation.

I downloaded the last of this site, but the problem is the same.

    Hello

Are you sure that this device supports BT to 100%?
If the device supports a Bluetooth device so you should find a label of BT on the bottom of the unit...

  • SD not recognized on the Satellite A100-787

Although the card slot recognizes the memory stick from Sony, the SD card is not recognized at all. I tried the card on the other computer and it worked fine. The driver for the card slot works well.

    Any ideas?

Sorry, but it is not easy to tell what can be the problem. What is the capacity of this SD card? You have produced high quality or some unknown manufacturer SD card?

If possible, try to get the second SD card and test how it works with your laptop Satellite A100.

  • Satellite A100-529 and new HARD drive

    I bought a new HARD drive: Samsung HM320JI (320 GB/SATA/5400 RPM / 8 M I)
When I turn on my laptop, it loads as 60%, and then it crashes. Why? It is not compatible?

    Satellite A100-529
    PSAA2e-01J00ZG3
    BIOS: 2.30

    What should I do?
I formatted my new HDD using my desktop PC

I don't understand what you mean with these 60%. 60% of what?

In my opinion the new HARD drive should work fine with your Satellite A100.
As Alex has already written fair use facilities for the installation of the OS recovery disk and I think everything should be OK.

  • How to set the Satellite A100-596 to factory without Recovery DVD settings

I gave my young niece of my old laptop A100-596 for Christmas.
It worked perfectly on Christmas Eve I packed it upward, in packing of origin, but at the time my niece connected on it has lost 40 GB of data among the drives C and E - everything E drive and the dvd drive had stopped working!

Now, no one has any explanation for what is happening, nor any reason why a laptop that has performed flawlessly for 18 months would suddenly lose 3/4 of the data on it, but whatever!

So now I want to restore it to factory, but without a job settings dvd, how? I have all disks involved in perfect condition!
In addition, I want to fool proof so it can be retrieved in case the person or nothing damaged, this time he cannot repeat the action.

So I think that if I partition the hard drive so that the recovery of files is accessible by me with a password, which I will NOT share with any of the children, if they bumble once again, then I will be able to recover.

Moreover, even restoring the system files have disappeared, so I can't even it roll back to a working condition!

    Any advice?

    Hello

You wrote so much and I think it's the best we descuss all questions slowly.

I don't know what you mean under non-working DVDs. Is the drive defective optical drive or media DVD is not readable?

Anyway, the fact is that if you want to have the factory again settings you must install operating system using Toshiba DVD recovery. If you don't have it you can do clean OS installation using the Microsoft DVD facilities. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities are available on the Toshiba support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page > support & downloads.

When you use recovery media Toshiba HARD whole disc will be erased. Absolutely everything. All data and partitions.
What you want to do with recovering data unfortunately will not work. You cannot copy the recovery image and start it from the other partitions. Not on Satellite A100.

On new A300, something like this is possible because the recovery image is stored on the second partition in folder HDDRecovery.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

  • Satellite A100-756: where the microphone?

    Hello.
I just bought this computer (Satellite A100-756) 2 days ago, and in the manual it says he built into the microphone, but I can't find it.
I was trying to voice chat on MSN messenger, but the other person couldn't hear a thing.
I have this light manually? If the answer is "Yes", if you please tell me how to do it.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

I checked the features of this unit, and according to some descriptions internal microphone is NOT available. There is a mic jack. Here, you can connect the external microphone.

It is possible that some units of this series support and are delivered with the internal mic, but not the Satellite A100-756's.

For most operating instructions describes all the features on the series of the laptop. But not all units support all features.

  • Satellite Pro M10 - infrared does not work properly

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro M10 and my infrared does not work. I downloaded the zip file with the drivers from this site. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled, but it always happens in the Device Manager under "unknown - SMC IrCC - Fast Port infrared (IR Module: HP). (with an exclamation point). When I look at the properties it says under device status:

This device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

However, under Driver Details is said:
    C:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\smcirda.sys

I extracted the zip file in my home directory of c:\downloads\infrared.
whatever I do, it does not now. It worked when I bought it, but I have too many things on the system for a new installation. Which brings me to another question. Is it possible to re - install windows without losing all your data, etc.? I did it with other systems (95,98) Windows. But it seems that the Toshiba recovery disc means any wiping.

Thanks in advance for any help.
    Chris

    Hello

If your HARD disk contains two partitions and you have saved the data on a second you can reinstall the operating system on the first partition using recovery DVDs.

  • Satellite P10 Series - USB Ports not working not

    Hi - I have a portable series of P10, PSP10E-0RCJM-EN.

Don't know when or how this can happen, but none of my USB ports work integrated.
They are all recognized and installed when you look in the Windows Device Manager.

I am running Win XP Home Edition with SP2 and latest drivers and BIOS downloaded from the Toshiba web site.
I had the hope that it might be a simple device or a driver of motherboard problem, but does not appear.

Using a card PCMCIA USB works very well, but uses only one card slot that I need for other purposes.

    Anyone has more suggestions please?
I hope you can help, impatience of someone soon!

    Graham

    Hello

Try to remove all the ports from the Device Manager.
Then try to restart the device. After this procedure, the operating system should recognize and install again the USB ports.
It would be very interesting to know if the ports are working properly after this new facility.
