Inherited a laptop with XP, ex field so can't change password,

Nor do I can install programs etc. If I were at this level to Windows 8, it accept cela and allow me full access after that?

Any ideas on that? The laptop has not been used for 2 years and is 2006 (Dell Latitude) Got the employer it previous when I left because it was longer than 3 years. Love now use it for my daughter, but does not allow me a lot. Cannot bypass the protection (or don't know how) assuming an upgrade can be the solution, or not?

Thank you

Dar

Win 7 and win 8 have the same system requirements (approx.).  The cpu can work either (slowly), the ram is almost minimum, I'd be concerned about the video card.

I ran two 7 & 8 with ~ the same cpu and ram and for daily use (web browsing, e-mail, etc.), it was OK, BUT he had the required video (a dell inspiron with Intel 945 chipset) and that was the key.

Really depends on what you want to do with it, and what looks like your budget.  It will take place
