Inspiron 580 CPU update

Hello everyone, I know this question has been asked, but the information is now outdated.

The motherboard is a socket 1156, came with Core i3 and i5 stock, and many have said that the i7 rested not because it wasn't at this outlet at the time factor.

Well at the time 2 years ago it was not available in this decision at the time when people were answering the question. Anyway, long story short, I see that there are a few i7s in socket 1156 and I was wondering if anyone has ever had done the upgrade to an i7 and how it happened.

I was watching an i7 870 socket 1156, no word anyone?

Thanks again!

geekmaster64

It is not just the power socket, it's because the Dell Inspiron 580 OEM Intel H57 chipset only supports i3 and i5 processors and not the i7, for that you need a different motherboard.

    Hi malick4132,

Dell has tested Inspiron 580 with the following processors without any problem:

    1. Intel Pentium G6950
    2. Intel Core i3 - 530, 540
    3. Intel Core i5 - 750, 650

Your computer comes with Mobile Intel H57 Express Chipset. For more information, refer to link: http://intel.ly/XJYkuG

Click the compatible products for a list of processors that are compatible with your computer. Most of them supported the LGA1156 socket or FCLGA1156. Both are almost similar. Please check that you update the system BIOS before you upgrade the processor on the computer.

Dell does not recommend nor upgraded the processor, but it's like your discretion if you really want to go ahead with it. Warranty by saying that the issues raised as a result of the upgrade is not covered by the warranty, but we will continue to support for other issues and parts.

There is no list of processors available for the Inspiron 546, the following thread gives several compatible processor upgrades and is worth a read:

  • CPU fan cycling on and off power on Inspiron 580

    Hello

The fan on the CPU on my Inspiron 580 desktop PC is continuously cycling up to full speed for about 1-2 seconds and then return to normal for maybe 5 seconds.  Cycle does not always start as soon as the PC starts - it can take 5 to 10 minutes, but once started it will continue until the PC is rebooted.

Temperatures are all normal, and regardless of the CPU load.  I cleaned the PC with compressed air, but it is that dusty.

The PC doing this for a few months now, but it makes the PC absolutely infuriating to use and impossible to leave it turned on.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Thank you

    Dave

You can try this for starters:

    1. Do a search in Windows for: msconfig
    2. Launch msconfig, then click on Services tab
    3. Check the Hide Microsoft services
    4. Look on the remaining list for Dell DataVault
    5. United Nations DataVault box, output msconfig and reboot

If that solves the problem of fan, it was caused by a software update problem and that can be fixed...

  • Graphic updating the Dell Inspiron 580

    Hello world

I own a Dell Inspiron 580 and want to update the graphics card, mainly for photoshop but also casual games (SWTOR).

On the Dell site scouring for hours she was told that the AMD Radeon HD double 7750 1GBx16 PCIe HDMI is a card that is compatible with the Inspiron 580.

    http://www.VisionTek.com/7000-series/7750-Dual-HDMI.html

In my excitement, I ordered the card immediately, but later by reading the specs, that is to say the power required for the HD 7750 is 350 Watt... and now I am aware that the Inspiron 580 has only a POWER 300 watt PSU.

It will be possible to run this card safely with the stock power supply?

I have contributed to the maximum my 8 GB system RAM and I also have a Sound Blaster X - Fi Titanium HD installed.

Thank you for all you can give me information or advice.

    Hi Ninjasaan,

Dell has not tested with the AMD Radeon HD 7750 system. You can install the graphics card and it should work fine. However, as you know that the power required by the system of the card is more than the power supply provided with the system, you may need to replace the power supply. The minimum power required by the card system is 400 watts.

You can replace the power supply of the system with a stock THAT same size PSU and it should work.

For repair, you can see the link: http://bit.ly/VphDmP.

I hope this helps. Do not hesitate to answer for any further assistance.

  • Update graphics card on Dell Inspiron 580 MT

    Hello

I watch first through similar threads on this site, but I found the newest one was more than a year, so I decided to create a new post

We have a 6 years, Dell Inspiron 580 Mt. just only because of his age, I'm about to put in a new hard drive, & when doing this, I thought to upgrade or replace the dedicated graphics card.

At the present time, there is a NVIDIA GeForce G310 512 MB card in there. The computer is used mainly for businesses, so not forced to play on it. The card manages two monitors, two Dell 2007FP with a resolution of 1600 x 1200. For the moment, we're on DVI, one on VGA, but I would like to make two DVI to 'Future Proof' if we replace with a higher resolution larger screens and more.

What would be a reasonable upgrade graphics card? I would like to find one that would not require an upgrade of the power supply as well.

Processor is an Intel Core i3 Processor 530(2,93GHz,4MB)

8 GB of RAM on board

    Suggestions that much appreciated :-)

    Hi traveler Quentin

    Please write to us.

Here are a few other graphics cards that are compatible with your system.

    nVidia GT220 1 GB

    nVidia 1 GB M207

AMD Radeon HD 5670 1 GB

    AMD Radeon HD 5450, 1 G

You can search the specifications of the ports on the vendor's site, before you decide on one.

The machine with only 300w PSU, so don't worry about changing the PSU.

  • What is the maximum Memroy for an Inspiron 580?

I am confused about the maximum memory for the Inspiron 580.

On the Dell website, it has that 8 GB is the maximum.

When I run the Dell Support Center software, click on the tab of system details under the heading SYSTEM MEMORY, it indicates the maximum supported memory is 16,00 GB.

    What is the right answer?

    J. Gray and yes I did.  As I posted above.  Its been running 16 GB for about 4 months now.

According to Panel... it shows an i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20 GHz with 16 GB of installed system, 15.8 GB usable.  64-bit operating system.  NOTE: the RAM is outside the EEC

And Yes, it is a Dell Inspiron 580 (per plate).  In the event that it is lost above, I wrote on 29/12/2015 (so you have the price, PN and source):

I just powered up with 16 GB in my Dell Inspiron 580.  It has 4 RAM slots now x 4 of them at $21 / each (on ebay):

    • 4 GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600 MHz 4G MEMORY OFFICE 240-PIN Non - ECC RAM CL 11

I was careful to cross reference, which would be and how fast it was.  These are faster they must do, but they were also the cost lowest.  The 'old' were DDR3-1333.  So these are the fastest (doubt that helps the machine go faster), DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800, alias).

I have had this PC i5 for about 5 years now.  I had thought that it was getting old/obsolete, but when shopping is not not bad.  So, $80 brings me 6 GB to 16 GB.

  • What processors does the Inspiron 580 support?

I have an old Dell Inspiron 580 system I give to my 11 year old for school work and light online games.  I try to understand which processors will support this system.   I know it 'should' support a wide range of i3s and i5s, but since the last update of the BIOS has been in 2010, I don't know there is a lot that he doesn't.  Course record:

    Chipset - H57

    BIOS - A07

    UC - i3 530

  • Inspiron 580 headphones does not

I have an Inspiron 580 connected to my TV via HDMI. and playback is set to my TV. My TV has no headphone jack, and I like to listen to through my PC headphones. When I plug it in the socket produces no sound. Adjusting the sound volume on my PC has no effect. Ideas?

    Hi Dixieboy1,

Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 takes support only one audio device by default. HDMI (HDMI Audio) output is selected as the default device and playback is set to your TV. You can select the sound card as the default audio device to listen through headphones to PC Jack. Please follow the steps below to set the sound card as default audio device:

    1. right click on the speaker on the lower right corner of the screen, then select "playback devices".
    2. in the list, click on "speakers (high definition Audio Device) and click the"Set default".".
    3. click on 'OK '.

You will now be able to listen through the headphones and the TV will receive the video signal via HDMI. You will need to set the HDMI Audio device as default, if you want to listen to the audio via TV by following the steps listed above.

  • New Dell Ultrasharp U2417H old Inspiron 580 MT desktop computer monitor

My new monitor has arrived today, but I can't connect it with the included cables. My old Inspiron 580 was purchased in 2010 and my old monitor used the plug VGA.

The cables provided with the new monitor are the upstream USB 3.0 cable and a DP for CDM cable. It doesn't seem to be a taking of CDM on my desk then, how can I connect the monitor?

My first question to the seller Dell was "this new monitor would be compatible with my old desktop Inspiron 580, that is, about connectivity?"  He said yes, he would.

Any help would be much appreciated - but not too technical if you please.

  • Purchased January 2011 Inspiron 580 desktop PC

I want to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 8. The Dell site says that my machine is not supported by Dell for Windows 8. That means it is not possible to use Windows 8 on the Inspiron 580, or does this mean that Dell has not tested this machine for Windows 8 and would not help the problems that may arise? Microsoft Windows 8 compatibility test sheds very little problems for Windows 8 on my setup. If someone advise me to go forward, or just accept that there may be a fundamental reason for not going to Windows 8?

    This one:

"He's sayings Dell has not tested the machine for Windows 8, which would not help the problems that may arise.

Dell only supports operating systems delivered on a particular machine.  Because Dell has never delivered a 580 with Windows 8, there is no reason to test, so they do not have.  They don't test and validate systems newer and newer operating systems as they come out.  That said, there should be no reason why it couldn't run Windows 8.  The compatibility test must be your best indicator.

  • Dell Inspiron 580 connecting to a new Reference Dell U2415 monitor

Dell Inspiron 580 connection for a new Dell U2415 monitor supplied HDMI cable does not fit my computer HDMI port... the new end of cable is too large for the HDMI port?  How can I work around this? The monitor has a VGA connection.

    Thanks for the help.

    Robert

Here is the U2415 User Guide. Page 6 shows that we delivered a mini-cable DP to DP (DP = DisplayPort), not an HDMI cable. Pages 10 and 11 show us that the U2415 has the following video ports =.
    HDMI in
    HDMI in
    DP in
    CDM in
    Out DP

The Inspiron 580 mid back has two video ports =.
    HDMI output
    VGA output

You must buy an HDMI cable to HDMI locally.

  • Use of the video memory Inspiron 580

I got a STD Inspiron 580 on 2 years ago and I've recently upgraded the video card integrated with a GeForce GT630 2 GB card. Now I am checking the use of memory for my system, now that I have an equipped graphics card, is it possible to change the dedicated graphics memory and shared system memory because it would free up on my machine, which is currently 4 GB of RAM.

Will also change the foregoing slow aspects of my computer down?

    Hi KRIS537,

Inspiron 580 system BIOS doesn't have an option to change the shared memory. It is handled automatically by the system and is disabled if a video card is detected on the system. You can follow the steps below to check the memory available in the system configuration:

    • Turn on the system
    • Press F2 on the Dell splash screen
    • Highlight the system information and press enter
    • You can find the installed memory and available memory .

I hope this helps. Answer please if you have any other questions.
