There is no list of processors available for the Inspiron 546, the following thread gives several compatible processor upgrades and is worth a read:

Note: Before installing the processor, make sure that your system has the latest version of the BIOS installed.

The 546 supports a maximum of 8 GB of DDR2 memory, see page 53 here:

  • Inspiron 580 CPU update

Hello everyone, I know this question has been asked, but the information is now outdated.

The motherboard is a socket 1156, came with Core i3 and i5 stock, and many have said that the i7 rested not because it wasn't at this outlet at the time factor.

Well at the time 2 years ago it was not available in this decision at the time when people were answering the question. Anyway, long story short, I see that there are a few i7s in socket 1156 and I was wondering if anyone has ever had done the upgrade to an i7 and how it happened.

I was watching an i7 870 socket 1156, no word anyone?

    Thanks again!

    geekmaster64

It is not just the power socket, it's because the Dell Inspiron 580 OEM Intel H57 chipset only supports i3 and i5 processors and not the i7, for that you need a different motherboard.

  • Inspiron 546 on Win10 has 100% disk usage

Inspiron 546 my son has been upgraded to Win10 early on after that that he was released.  It was fine for a long time.  Now, the computer takes at least 20 minutes to boot and it is almost impossible to do anything about it.  I don't think that it's an infection because he's not really using it for the Internet.

The use of the hard drive was 100% a few months ago so I cleaned the disk and reinstalled.  It was fine for the last few month, but now it's happening again.

I tried a few suggestions around to disable Windows Search, prefetch and MSI.  However, the computer just wants to turn the HDD without doing great thing else.

I'm trying to move the data to a different hard drive to see if that helps.

    Suggestions more?

I think that the problem is indeed a bad hard drive.  Windows said there is no problem with the drive it runs chkdsk /f /r (directed by linux) came with a lot of errors.

Not necessarily the best, but one of the best.

  • Dell Inspiron 580 CPU Socket type?

    Hello

I have a dell inspiron 580 and I want to upgrade the CPU intel core i5 intel core i3. But first, I need to know what is the CPU socket type, so I know which one to buy. I tried to find it on google but I could not. Is that h2 lga 1155 and 1156 or lga h or h57?

Also, if you have any recommendations for i5 processors and then respond!

    Thank you

    Hi malick4132,

Dell has tested Inspiron 580 with the following processors without any problem:

    1. Intel Pentium G6950
    2. Intel Core i3 - 530, 540
    3. Intel Core i5 - 750, 650

Your computer comes with Mobile Intel H57 Express Chipset. For more information, refer to link: http://intel.ly/XJYkuG

Click the compatible products for a list of processors that are compatible with your computer. Most of them supported the LGA1156 socket or FCLGA1156. Both are almost similar. Please check that you update the system BIOS before you upgrade the processor on the computer.

Dell does not recommend nor upgraded the processor, but it's like your discretion if you really want to go ahead with it. Warranty by saying that the issues raised as a result of the upgrade is not covered by the warranty, but we will continue to support for other issues and parts.

    Answer please for more details.

  • HP Media Center a1560n CPU update

Hello people, try to change the processor of my product from HP HP Media Center a1560n #: EX278AA that came with an Asus Mobo. L5LP-(Leucite) is NOT an Emery nor a Leonite or a Lithium battery. The original processor is an Intel Pentium D 915 @ DC 2.80 GHz/800 MHz FBS / Socket 775 / 4 MB L2 Cache / Max TDP 95W. The (945 G Chipset) Mobo very good posts with this installed processor, once I have placed my other CPU a GHz Intel Pentium D 840 Extreme Edition @3.2 (Smithfield) / 800 MHz FBS / Socket 775 / L2 Cache of 2 MB / Max TDP 130 w turns on all fans but not post. (Note fans never descend form high rpm, as they do with the other CPU). R & R'ed CPU several times without any difference. 915 POST but 840 not. The HP product description says that the 800 series is an acceptable upgrade processor.  I just updated my BIOS of 3.15 to 3.19, thinking that this would settle it with no joy. Is it because my CPU is one extreme and not a CPU 800 series regular or due to the difference of PDT?  I'm sure that I have a (Leucite-GL8E) Mobo from Leucite because I compared all different Mobo of the Mobos L5LP-EL choices and the Leucite is an exact Visual match from the photos of product description, and it is one that is under the description of the product for my product to 99.99%. Where the other boards (Leonite, Emery and Lithium) have some obvious differences like chips, etc. The photo of Leucite has all the chips and parts just like my Mobo. This is 840 CPU compatible with this motherboard? Thank you all for your time.

    Luis, welcome to the forum.

Here are the Specifications of the motherboard.

I think you put the problem on the head.  You put new technology in old technology.  The computer is 7 years old.  There is a good chance that the extreme version is too powerful for the motherboard.  The specs do not mention the TDP, so we cannot necessarily determine whether it is part of the problem, also.  I don't think that we were still talking of TDP in 2006.

  • HP Pavilion g62-B50SA: Hp Pavilion g62-B50SA CPU update

    Hello

I am looking at upgrading the processor in an i3 i5 or i7 laptop, I was wondering if someone had done before, if it's the same penalty, and if no problem of massive heating were casued by intorducing a more power hungry CPU. common sense tells me that an i5 would be nice, but if I can go out with an i7 I wouldn't complain. Although I'm not sure that the rest of the system would really have this treatment a lot more capabiltiy so an i5 would be probably more cost-effective. any help would be appreciated

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Your manual

The top of the page compatible processor is:

    CPU i7-620 M of Intel Arrandale™ (total 2.66 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache, 1066 MHz) - Dual core 35 W

You have an i3 - 350 M. The thermal system is designed to manage each processor and the absorbed current is the same at 35W. You would go to 2.26 ghz with a cache of meg 3 to 2.66 ghz with a cache of meg 4; probably a 40% increase or more in processing power. The i7 is going to be about $40 on eBay and an i5 only a little less, so if you do the upgrade I go for excitement and get the i7. However, the first generation Intel Core is getting a little long in the tooth. No usb 3.0, no SATA-III, bad heat/power management, etc. If you can make the update yourself and the manual shows how, then for $40 it might allow you to use the laptop for a little longer. Do not underestimate the difficulty of the upgrade, however. If you need assistance after return.

If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

You can virtually none of the PENRYN 45nm lithography processors put in it, the optimal processor, you can upgrade is the Intel core 2 duo t9500. I have the same laptop and I have the next step down from what is the Intel core 2 duo processor t9300. There is no complete list of the processors that it will support the lists that you will find are incomplete at best even Intel does not update their information. Go to intel.com and search PENRYN in a search more people you can use, you need to compare to ensure that.

  • Lenovo N500 3000 CPU update (4233)

    Hello

I have to install Windows Server 2008 R2 on the virtual machine, but unfortunately my lenovo has cpu T5800 supporting VT so I want to upgrade to a processor that works with this laptop and support VT what processor to buy?

    My laptop specs:

    CPU: T5800

    CPU Socket: Socket p (478)

    Motherboard Chipset: PM45

    RAM: 2 * 2 giga FSB 667

My laptop also has a discrete graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 9300 m GS

    Thank you

VT normally requires surport bios level.

You'd better all the all the cpu that came in the series and the bios here as to what they had

otherwise the cpu works, but wont surport this feature or it used surport the cpu at all.

There is no way to know what bios surports to let what cpu in laptop computers.

normally full of features cpu come in the high-end models and the bios there reflect this.

normally, you cannot take a cheaper model and update without custom bios.

  • Svchost.exe (netsvcs) 100% cpu - update of Windows *.256 cause - update forever checks as does Defender.

Hi, I got 100% usage cpu choking my system Toshiba laptop L300 Vista 32-bit, cause - (netsvcs) svhost.exe in time real trouble was unknown and tried everything has failed. So I did a complete new installation and fully updated to SP2 then the next update and it required me to download the latest update to terminant.256. My system is now unusable with constantly check and update svchost.exe using 100% cpu. All is well until I start to WU and I restore prior to this Windows Update Agent... Also if I close just the update it is still short in the background using 100% cpu by svchost.exe (ntsvcs) until I have manually stop the service.

    I have:

Disabled Windows Firewall and Avast antivirus.

I tried all the things as well in safe mode.

    Installed costs.

Followed the instructions found on the net

In offline mode, downloaded and installed the latest update which is the same as that.

Whenever I have restore before this update, it works very well. The download of the update even if I have restore and install only the off-line version, it cripples even with 100% cpu and without end of audit. He made also Defender without end of audit.

How to fix something that is a solid wall. You cannot uninstall or go around it. If I restore before it, that's all I can ever be updated Vista.

I admit, I'm going nuts with this thing. I can't be the only one, it is 100% Windows update agent question.

They have started to issue updates, default update clients cannot manage. Under Vista, install all the missing updates listed in the table above to this page:

    http://Wu.krelay.de/en/

    On Windows 7, install KB3172605.

    KB3172605 32-bit

    KB3172605 64-bit

    Best regards, VZ

  • Inspiron 545 CPU Upgrade, E5300 to E8400

Currently, I own an Inspiron 545 and was studying the processor upgrade. This computer is used as a HTPC + games

Current processor is Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.6GHz, bus front at 800 MHz. LGA 775

Motherboad is DG33M06, wood version A12

Will have problems with this upgrade?

Can I use the existing cooler from Dell?

Can I use the same RAM?

Where should I get one?  What is used in CPU?

It should work; It's quad-core processors that require a different motherboard.

The original cooler must work, the old thermal paste is carefully cleansed and applied new compound. (Arctic Silver is a popular choice).

  • Dell Inspiron N4110 Windows Update 10...

I discovered that Microsoft had installed a program on my laptop, after I restarted. It was a program letting me know that Windows 10 is available for download today...

Apparently, Microsoft said Windows 10 WILL RUN PERFECTLY on the laptop... But I wanted to check with Dell Community...

SO IS IT LEGITIMATE... Are the drivers for the Inspiron N4110 update for support with Windows 10?

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64. Think of the upgrade...

As far as I know, 10 Windows work properly on Dell Inspiron N4110. Although its driver is not yet updated to be compatible for Windows 10, you can install all the drivers on Windows 10 using Driverpack Solution 14.5. I am running Windows 10 Pro on my laptop, and all the drivers do not work properly. It is advisable to clean install Windows 7 Ultimate, install any drivers, and then upgrade to Windows Pro 10. If you answer that you can install Windows 10.

  • Dell Inspiron N5110 CPU fan does not work

    Hello world

    I have a problem with a DELL Inspiron N5110.

When I turn on the laptop, the fan runs for 15 seconds then it turns off by itself... but the Windows starts correctly, and other components work fine.

I know that I can't use my laptop if the CPU fan does not work because it will overheat the cpu and the motherboard so...

Could you please give me an advice?

    Thank you

The fan will run at powerup self test time, and then won't turn on (or run at full speed) up to a set temperature is reached.

Function that replaces the motherboard, check that the thermal pads have been replaced when the radiator has been removed from the system.  If this part was not replaced, the system will run very hot.
