Inspiron or XPS8900 for MOM

Greetings,

I recently bought a XPS8900 for me, and well, I like it. Now, MOM wants a new computer. She is a pretty light user, mainly the navigation and other light duties. I think that the XPS8900 is more than she needs and seeks to the Inspiron 3650; W10, 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB of HDD, integrated graphics. There is only one slot m2 with wifi installed in it, so add SSD to the bottom of the road will be more involved. Thoughts?

The Inspiron 3650 should be just fine for browsing the web, and as you say, light functions.

As for the SSD, you can replace the disk 3,5 '' SATA, with one or two 2.5 "SSD, instead of using the M2 slot, see pages 31-40 here:

If I go to the Dell website and look for the serial number I can't find anything that fits this description.

There is only a sound driver list that I downloaded and installed... but isn't for the RealTek device listed under sound, video and game controllers.

I was working remotely, and after the user firmly insisted that no sound card has been added to the computer - for the first hour I spent trying to solve this - he said at last... Oh, I remember now, we did add a sound card.

  • Inspiron 3250 - room for one SSD?

This looks like a good machine for my wife, but I want to use an SSD for C: and hard drive for backups.

"The specs say it takes a drive 3.5" or two 2.5 ", but they provide a 3.5" so no expansion room. :(

Is it possible to paste an SSD somewhere in there with adhesive tape double-sided?

Here is a photo of the small computer Inspiron 3250 of office with the side cover. I don't see any place where you can 'stick an SSD. I'd go with the largest 3650 Inspiron. Second photo.

  • Recommend camera PowerShot for MOM

I'm looking to get a camera PowerShot to my mother, about $ 100.

    Requirements:

    • AA battery (or nonstandard battery you buy in the store)
    • Large LCD display.
    • SD memory card.
    • Easy to use

I want to have the AA battery because I don't think she'd remember buy another battery.  I can / will buy a battery of Cannon for her, but I'm thinking about the REALITY of the situation, she'll forget probably, etc..

I was looking at the one below, and he seemed to be nice and about 100 dollars.  I'm open to suggestions / recommendations, etc. !  Just seen this page and seemed nice.

Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS digital camera (Silver)

Click camera style "ok everyone, meet... closer... come... as you like each other"... perfect!  That's all.

She likes just to seize the moment.  Yes, a cameraphone would work for her, but NO smartphone!

    MLCarter1976,

The ELPH camera that you offer is a choice excellent camera to capture the moment. However, you mentioned that you want AA batteries, and the line ELPH cameras use rechargeable lithium batteries. The Canon PowerShot A1400 uses AA batteries and costs about $84.00 B & h. There's not a lot of Canon cameras that use AA batteries, even under $100.00. The LCD screen is a bit smaller than the ELPH screen since the A1400 includes a viewfinder. The image quality is also not quite as nice as the series ELPH, but under more normal conditions, the photos will be fine. Low light will require the use of flash.

If you go there with a camera that uses AA batteries, I would strongly recommend getting a top line batteries rechargeable NiMH or better since these cameras will go through the same expensive AA batteries fairly quickly. Another thing is that all the Canon cameras come with built in memory, so you will need to buy a SD memory card.

Good luck in the search for the camera.

When I start my computer laptop deal, I get a screen that says "this computer system is protected by a sending of password authentication system you cannot access the data on this computer without the password, please enter in the system or administrative password and press ENTER." I've never set up a password on this computer.

If you or anyone with access to the computer not configured this password, then the pc isn't new. I created one on my Dell first, and even after resetting to factory settings, it still needs a password. You will need to have a technician dell reset it for you. That's what I had to do. Someone else may have another suggestion, but I've owned 2 Dell and have dealt with the system and HARD drive passwords. Good luck to you...

restore the system to an older date has apparently solved the problem.

If she comes back, check the list of programs in the control panel > programs & features and remove Dell Support help and Dell Support Agent to it. Dell published a bad update last week that causes ringing. If you have this update, perhaps using the removed system restore.

  • 30 G lecteurC my mom is full. She made a few Word documents, a few e-mail and some photos. Nothing that could fill 30 Gs.

Could not find the culprit, not with chkdsk not slow to crawl and search, only not with cleaning, removal and not Zone Alarm or any other program. She hosts a villain, no doubt. Any ideas? Area A is nothing. The system is reported in good health...

I gave up about to spot the virus/trojan/hackster! Just is not looking directly at the HD to find out what is his and what is not.

I have it backed up to an external drive... If I want to know (unless, of course, a brilliant knows how to catch a thief) - I can restore all the original programs by using the "create restore CD" utility NOW? Or would it be too late to make them (the horse out of the barn and all...)?

Do I have to delete everything and reinstall the OS?

    Thanks a lot - Sabine

Ah... success. 14.5 concerts of restored through recommendations of Daavee! I used the CNettoyez and my next step is the report of JDisk then the Microsoft Security Essentials. Nice work, a helping hand we semi geeks.

It was a great experience! Thank you also for MOM.

  • When I get out of my Dell Inspiron inactive my computer hangs

    Original title: computer hangs

When I leave my Inspiron 1525 idle for an hour or two, the screen freezes and I have to turn off the computer and restart via safe mode.  It is a new show lasts for 2 weeks. the virus that is not currently running or poorly uninstalled can cause problems.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.
