Install a hard drive

Original title: Pedro

Y at - it a problem if I (temporarily) install a hard drive in my PC of capacity equal to one he has (both 1 T). I know that a hard drive with a lower capacity would cause the original HD does not work when the reinstalled (500 MB in an original HD 1 TB).

Thank you for your advice.

Pedro

You can give more details about what you are considering, but--

"I don't know a hard drive with a lower capacity would cause the original HD does not work when the reinstalled"

You can install the variable capacity HARD drives and mix the SSD HARD drive. Mixture of capacity should not

normally cause any HARD disk to stop working.

-What you need to be careful when you install a HARD drive in the case, is not Exchange not the cable on the

Windows HARD disk is installed on a different SATA port (what good practice dictates as Port 0)

If you do not have what you need to rearrange the order in the BIOS Boot section (or change again the cables),

or the machine can "read" the HARD drive badly and not start Windows (depending on the configuration of the BIOS).

Examples:

-J' have a machine with an e-SATA docking station I can pop any HARD drive in.

I have backup of HDD of 80 GB, 320 GB, 500 GB and 1 TB.

(This machine has a SSD and 2 TB HDD installed)

I also use that HDD dock for a 'double' boot Win10 from an another SSD

(Win7 is installed in the case, then I have to change the BIOS boot option when I change from one OS to the other).

-My second machine (with an SSD, 500 GB and 1 TB HDD installed) doesn't have the luxury of a

e SATA dock, so with this one, I use a spare door HARD disc that came with the case and the spare SATA and

cable to connect temporarily HDD with the stop sign and the HARD disk on the table

(power off and disconnected so that the implementation).

This is not a practical method for the weak and not heated, but works well with my old HARD drives.

For most people, using a HARD "external" drive that comes in its own case with a cable USB or e-SATA

connection is the best option.

    Hi Merlin,

    Thank you for the information.

Have you tried to run a check disk from the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)? If this isn't the case, you can try to do a hard drive from the BIOS test & see if the problem still occurs.

If you are not comfortable with the BIOS, you you contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

To be honest, it's really hard for us, users, to say what causes this problem and I think you should test more yourself

  • Install new HARD drive in a PC 2100

If anyone can help, I bought a second hand Toshiba SP2100(Model no.:PS210E-0069-5M) with a TravelStar 20 GB HDD. I bought a Toshiba MK4025GAS 40 GB of HARD drive to replace the 20 GB HARD drive, but when I install it, it is not recognized in the BIOS. I connected the new HARD drive to my PC via a USB cable to the IDE and the disc is recognized. Any ideas.

    Hello

Well, it's not easy to say why the HARD drive may not be recognized.
I think because of the size of the HARD drive. But that's my own opinion. Have you tried to update the BIOS? Please see the Toshiba for the right BIOS download page. But beware because the incorrect BIOS procedure may damage the motherboard.

  • Warranty void installed new HARD drive, but I still have the original?

    Hello

I recently installed a new 200GB Hitachi HARD 7200 RPM drive on my laptop, I know that my warranty will be cancelled, but as I still have the original HDD safe and sound, the guarantee will still defend if say... the technicians were to come round to fix my laptop due to an unrelated issue, but see that the HARD drive has been upgraded; they will always fix the laptop even after I show them as the original? It's a long shot I know, but the 40 GB of HARD disc that came with the laptop only leave me little room after installation of Vista.

At my upgrade COMPLETELY canceled my claim to the guarantee? Even if I just say... come back and install the original HARD drive in my system, just before the technicians come to my house? But that would be the same as if say... I just show the technician the original HDD on arrival while having the HDD Upgrade inside the laptop.

A bit confusing, I know, but I'm in a quandary, because the guys from Toshiba are set to come around my place to watch my laptop under warranty, and I fear that they will fix my phone because I upgraded to a better HD and faster.

Thank you very much, I hope someone answers.

    Hi Mohin

I would like to try to clarify your question.
The guarantee will be cancelled, if you you disassemble the laptop.
I imagine that the laptop was equipped with a HDD slot at the bottom of the unit and you have to delete only one screw to remove the small cache connector HARD drive. Am I wrong?
So in this case the upgrade of components such as the memory or the HARD drive will not avoid the warranty.

But it s a good idea to keep the old HDD that were shipped with the laptop.

    Best regards

  • Restore itunes after installing new hard drive

Very well. I have a HP DV2726ca the HARD drive was not. I have several external hard drives. I backed up my music folder and then just copied the contents of the folder this music in the new music folder.

When I open iTunes I see not those exclamation points or I see a bunch of clouds. shouldn't the fact that I kept physical copies say that I wouldn't have to download anything?

I have a "iTunes folder" and a folder named "music m4a files.

I put all my songs inside this folder "automatically add to iTunes".

I'm so confused. In the past, I had more easily. right now I don't have one of my playlists. I clicked on see the duplicates and there were many, some are same as triples.

I allowed my computer again. I don't understand why I not see an exclamation mark on the left side of the song or I get a rating of icloud. not sure if there is something that needs to be downloaded to play my protected music old ones I bought 128 and require authorization for the file set.

I had installed 10 windows but I have problems to install again on windows 7. my computer gives me several s bluescreen per day. I told someone the errors, and then he said sounds like a HARD drive problem. whenever I did the test drive HP that it would fail within a second. so I bought another 500GB which is what I had in this laptop before.

This laptop comes with Windows Vista. I upgraded to 7 years and then updated on 29 July. It does not appear that I can install windows 10 so I just want things to normal with windows 7.
