Yes, you can install Firefox on another drive, but the 'big' of the Firefox files will end up on the drive that contains the operating system AppData folder. As the browsing history and saved bookmarks accumulates, the ratio comes from 10 to 1 or more.

  • Install Vista from an external hard drive

My girlfriend has a laptop Dell Inspiron with Vista Home Premium on it. She has the Dell installation disk, but its optical drive does not work. My laptop HP with an optical drive that works and I used to copy the installation on an external hard drive Seagate disc.

I want to do a clean install of Vista on Dell sound. Can I just start directly from the folder on the external drive? How can I go about it?

If your external drive is connected via usb the computer cannot start.  The computer does not scan for a bootable hard drive usb bus.  In addition, if you just copy the disk the file is not bootable.  She needs fix his optical drive if it is faulty.  If it works, you affect the optical drive as the device higher in the boot order in the BIOS Setup.  If you do not have the experience to do this take the computer in a store.

Would it not be possible to install WIn XP or Win 98 + older software (Win 98 or XP) on an external hard drive, then plug it into USB, laptop, in order to run old programs of 16-32 bit?

It would be best to run Windows 98 or XP in a Virtual Machine, if you need to run older programs.

You can use a free software such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMware Player:

  • Install lr on and external hard drive or on the local drive?

    Hi again.

Someone at - it thoughts on installing the LR2 program on an external hard drive to store all the pictures and projects about it too so.  If you do this you just plug the external hard drive into any pc or laptop and have your program and photos with you, even when you're traveling?  If I had to do this where would be the best place to put a back up of all my work to?  the local drive or dvd?   Ive not heard of people doing this, so I wonder if this isn't a good way to do.  Most often, I hear of just using the external dirve for one rear device.

    Thanks for any ideas

    Randy

Yes, in the application of the LR of the internal (boot-generally that it is starting, which is) is the way to go. There is little difference in safety if your images and your catalogs are on an internal or external: you must have a backup of the image and the .lrcat files. It is much easier on the hard drives on removable media.

  • Install Panther PPC for external hard drive on Mac Intel

I have an old iMac G3 333 MHz, 192 MB of RAM. No firewire, no DVD. I updated its 120 GB hard drive, made 2 partitions (a 7, for the system 77 GB) and installed OS 10.1. I replaced the PRAM Battery (the clock is not reset on reboot) and the firmware is up-to-date.

Now I want to upgrade the system to OS X 10.3 Panther (to try to use the WiFi adapter that uses only the drivers OS X 10.3), but there is some kind of problem with the installation. The installation discs are read perfectly on iMac in point 10.1, when I start to install it under the current operating system, it starts after the reboot, but after it's the consistency of hard drive check, it seems to freeze, it shows progress maybe a single pixel on the progress bar (expected about an hour or two (, no change). I checked the disk with disk utility, and that's okay. And when I try to boot from the CD directly (holding C) it's light gray screen with the Apple logo and the circle of dashes thing and freezes.

So I thought that the solution might be to take the iMac hard drive, plug it into my MacBook Pro (early 2011) as external USB disk and install Panther on it. The fine wire work, I can read/write HD on MacBook Pro iMac, but Setup cannot start because it is assumed for PPC computers, while my MacBook Pro is based on Intel of course...

Is there a way to install OS X supposed to PPC on the external drive to the Mac to Intel processor? Or maybe there are other ways to solve the problem?

    Thanks in advance!

The solution is to understand why it does not work (as it should) while the drive is installed in the iMac.  You do not have to operate using the MacBook, because it cannot run the software for Mac PowerPC.

Is Panther drive installing a retail disk?  In other words, a drive sold separately in a box for all models taken Mac supported.  NOT a disc that came with a specific Mac model.  If I remember, the detail for Panther disc is black with a big X silver, and it's an disc enabled, not only a single disc.  If you have a gray disk, it's a disc that came with a specific Mac model, and it may not work with your iMac.

Can I install 12 on my external hard drive and the necessary pieces of program would always settle on the C drive? I have all my data on the hard drive as are all my photos.

Yes, there are a few pieces that would be installed on your startup disk.

Personally, I prefer to install app on my machine to an external hard drive and keep the data on the external drive files and access the external drive while working in the elements. However, it is supported.

    Thank you.

  • Can I have macbook start up from my external hard drive instead of the internal HD of the laptop?

I use a macbook air 2014 model and would like to know if I can boot the mac from an external hard drive rather than the inside. The reason to do this is to save space on the laptop and updates can be installed directly on the external hard drive.

Is this possible? Forgive me, because I'm not that tech savvy. Thank you in advance!

Yes. Install or clone of Mac OS X on it and then select it in the pane of the system preferences Startup disk.

  • How to import bookmarks from an external hard drive?

I exported my favorites from firefox on an external hard drive. Now I have a new laptop, but do not know how to transfer these back to firefox bookmarks.

It is no different to import from a hard drive on your own machine. The external hard drive has a drive letter on the same way as a HD internal.

Just use the reverse procedure, you made to export the file i.e. choose "Import HTML" instead of "export HTML".

If you saved it in. JSON format, then choose 'Restore' in the menu "import and backup" instead.

  • I would like to know how to transfer my music, photos etc from my c continue to an external hard drive.

My drive C (100 GB) is now full of 98% and this seems to slow down my computer. I installed a 2 t external hard drive to my computer and I want to transfer music, photos, etc on the new drive. I use XP Professional. Can someone give me some advice step by step on how to do this please.

    Warandoo

    Hello

    1. plug, turn on the external hard drive and let it be recognized.

    2. open Windows Explorer or My Documents or my pictures or my music.

3 right-click on whatever files you want to send to the external HD > move your mouse cursor on the send to in right click options > in the menu that appears, select your external hard drive as a destination.

    4. When you open My Music, etc. you can go to Edition (for modification of file, etc. toolbar at the top) > select all to copy all the music at the same time.

    See you soon.

  • Tries to access an external hard drive get the error "system error 1130 has occurred."

I have an old box with Windows XP Professional SP3 installed that I use as a file server. I installed a 2 TB external hard drive and set a couple of actions on it. Everything worked fine until 2 weeks ago when I lorsque je pouvais pouvais join is no longer to the actions of one other machines of the network: whenever I tried, I got:

    1130 system error has occurred.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

I installed the additional memory (now 2 GB), nothing helps.

The really strange thing is: I can set and use actions on the C drive (a small disc 40 GB, only containing the operating system). but actions on the external drive D (the big disk) do not work.

    Someone has an idea?

    Hi levensnevel,

Follow the steps to solve the problem:

    c. click Edit, point to newand then click DWORD value.

    d. Type IRPStackSize, and then press ENTER to name the value.

Note Type IRPStackSize exactly as it is displayed. The value name is case-sensitive.

    e. click Editand then click Edit.

    f. in the value data box, type the appropriate value for the network, and then click OK.

If the problem persists after you complete this procedure, increase the value of IRPStackSize even more.

Hello noblee, no it is not technically feasible. Office wrote a load of settings in the Windows registry and must also register all its dll and its applications in the registry on the computer on which it is initially installed.

If you install it on an external drive, it works locally (but with a reduced efficiency) but will not work on another computer.
