After my gateway mD2614u (64 bit WHP) OS was wiped out by the virus and "projected blue" I installed my old disk of Vista Home Premium 32-bit (gateway) to try to recover the operating system to 64-bit in fact somehow, it works fine after installing the network drivers appropriate. Would it be possible to retrieve an original os status or should I simply buy the disk recovery, or just be it? I know that tmi!

    # Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows is OK but one backward migration is a problem because the 32-bit version of the installer cannot delete some items of 64-bit.  It produces a mixed version where you have taste strange anomalies a folder programs (x 86) and a programs folder.  Vista 32 bit shouldn't have a programs (x 86) folder.  Only 64-bit Vista has that.  He there's other, less obvious, issues.  Although you can retrieve files from the Windows.old folder the BONE itself is not trustworthy.  I tested the backward migration during the program Vista TechBeta and script scenarios has never supported by Microsoft Support after RTM due to 32-bit installation being unable to deal with the structure of the 64-bit system to remove.

  • Point system freezing - recently installed a 833 2Wire gateway

My HP Media Center m8407c running Vista OS has started to freeze. Any help? I recently installed a gateway router 833 2Wire provided by AT & T with DSL.

    to: Imran Chand:

Thank you for your reply and your help.

The computer hangs at all places. I had to reboot 4 times just to open a session. It doesn't seem to be any time or place where this happens.

I went out the window / your recommendations and was able to solve the problem of step 2. I have other computers on a home network that do not freeze, so I think that the problem lies in this computer. In any case, thanks for your help. Now I'm off to get my sound, I've lost somewhere during my diagnosis.

  • How to install on my new Gateway computer with windows 8... Photoshop 2 (Yes 2)?

It keeps rejecting my installation... "must have internet explore 4.4 or more to install..." Windows 8 is equipped with internet explore 10! Help!

Photoshop 2 was a Macintosh only program released in 1991. It will not work on Windows 8. Photoshop 2.5 was the first available on a PC platform. As for Photoshop CS 2 (aka Photoshop 9), it is likely to have significant problems of compatibility in Windows 8, especially if you use a 64-bit version of Windows 8. You can probably do better with Photoshop Elements if upgradeing to Photoshop CS 6 is not in the cards.

  • Cannot install app «Print Edition»

Firefox is installed on my new gateway. After you download the application, it would not install because Firefox has not been installed? My system is Windows 7, 64-bit, 8 GB of ram and 1 terabyte hard drive. Is there a 64-bit version of Firefox? Could the Norton AV software it blocks without telling me?

    Hello JFarrel,
There should not be any difference between versions 32 and 64 bit, AFAIK.
However, it seems that there was an error during the installation of Firefox.
Try to uninstall and reinstall and don't completely uninstall Internet Explorer, but you might still need during the process.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Icons on the desktop are covered by some kind of a generic icon after installing updates

Original title: updated ruined my office!

Once the updates have been downloaded and installed to my computer Gateway DX4840-03F (Windows 7 Home Premium x 64) icons on my desktop are now covered by some sort of a generic icon applied on top of the icon who was there.  If I take the icons up to large size I can still see the edges of the original under the generic icon icon.  I'm hesitant to do a restore before the undates were applied.  I guess that when the updates have been applied, I would have the same problem.  This is the first time that I've never used this forum thing, but it seems that this isn't the hottest place of answers...

    Hi skipplummer,

You can check in the history of Windows update and the updates recently installed.

    Step 1:

Check the update history to see what updates have been installed. See the link for the same mentioned below.

See the Windows updates are installed

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/see-which-Windows-updates-are-installed

    Step 2:

Given that the problem occurred after installing Windows updates, you can try a system restore and then try to install the updates one manually and check.

You can try a system restore to a point before installing updates.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To run the system restore, you can consult the following link:

    System restore

  • Installation of Ubuntu on Gateway NE56R41u

Hello! I think installing Ubuntu on my gateway NE56R, I'm wondering a few things, can free acer drivers for linux for this computer if possible?

Also the big question for most is my computer compatible really, I tried the live usb, and it loads so fast on ubuntu 15.04.  Another big question would be like I should restore the windows Boot Manager, as this laptop is UEFI and Ubuntu would install GRUB boot manager, also if I install ubuntu and say remove one or two years (probably not as I'm a geek ) and well if I how would remove GRUB in the UEFi boot menu?

But the more important things to do I need drivers for you guys and you know if this PC is compatible? There is no warranty on the laptop... If that were the case I would have contacted the live chat, but cannot...

Yes, or you can use the auto repair since installation of windows media.

  • How do I use the built in webcam on my computer laptop gateway?

I have no idea how even turn on the webcam. I don't know even where to find the software for the webcam. I tried to use Skype and that no longer works. Is there anyway that I can fix this?

On your front door, you have the Camera Assistant Software installed. It is not a start menu entry, but you should find that it listed in programs and features, if it is installed. If it is installed and running, you should find an icon in the notification area and that there should be a hidden toolbar that will show if you move your mouse cursor along the top of your screen. If you do not have the software installed you should be able to download and install it from the gateway support site. • Dual-boot a pre-installed copy of Vista.

I'll be getting an additional SATA drive available in a few months. I plan to install it in a gateway 4200DX which comes preinstalled with Vista 64-bit home premium.  I have a dual boot with XP and Vista. The player in question is only 80 GB, so I would use for operating systems so that in case of accident, that one is most likely to go. If possible. If this isn't the case, I would just install XP on it.

The problem is that my system did not come with an installation for Vista CD, only a "recovery partition". Worse still, at the time where I learned to make a dual boot, I learned that I had to install the oldest operating system first. Granted, XP was brand new at the time and I was installing double boots from 98/2000 or 98/XP for friends & family, so I am not sure if it still applies to Vista.

How could I go do a system dual-boot? I have to forget about using the new 80 GB for the OS drive and just find a way to shrink the partition from my current drive? Can I still do it without a Vista CD? I have a XP CD, although I don't think that there all service packs. I've got those engraved on 2 separate CD. I just mention that the CD is one of the oldest because I recently tried to use it to install the console recovery on someone computer facility and I had problems. I don't think it should affect what anyone because the installation of these service packs is part of what I consider to be the installation process. I just use the CD instead of letting the autocratic updates to do to save time and bandwidth.

Usually, the recovery partition are accessible in some way to burn the recovery disks, how is specific to your PC manufacturer.

Before installing Windows XP, make sure that this gateway provides Windows XP drivers for your system, if they do not, let winxp well alone

  • Is DG4ODBC part 11 gr 2 install?

I created a test database in GR 11, 2 on 64-bit windows server 2008, the production database is running on windows 32-bit 10 G and using heterogeneous connections to connect to AS400 databases.

I understand that 11G has replaced the old HSODBC with DG4ODBC gateway. My questions are:

#1-do I need to install the 'extras' in my 11 GR 2 install (EE), or is he is not part of the installation - how do I know if it's installed? There are examples of files in the oracle_home\hs folder, is still home for files init etc.?

#2-est this basically the same as HSODBC? What I do different?

#3-une another database of 11 GR 2 I create on this machine requires a connection to a database of MSAccess 32 bits - is that this is going to be a problem with 64-bit drivers?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello
Yes, DG4ODBC is installed with the RDBMS to 11.2 so to answer your questions-

    1. you do not have to install all the extras to make it work, apart from third party ODBC drivers. To check if it is installed, look for the dg4odbc.exe executable in the directory of $ORACLE_HOME/bin and $ORACLE_HOME/hs is always the directory for files of initialization of DG4ODBC.
You'll need to install and configure the gateway as this is not done automatically. See this note in My Oracle Support-

Note to master note.1083703.1 for the Oracle Gateway products

who has links to notes installation and configuration.

2 DG4ODBC is the direct replacement for the earlier HSODBC and is used in the same way as HSODBC.

    3. you will need to check with Microsoft if the access 64-bit drivers can connect to a 32-bit Access database. If this can be done then the connection works also with DG4ODBC.

Please come back if anything is unclear or if you have other questions. Otherwise, please mark the thread as "answered".

    Kind regards

    Hi Robins7,

    (a) 'My new gateway windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit laptop computer' does that mean? This means that you have two laptops with different pieces? or you have the game software of 32 bit on a 64-bit operating system?

    (b) ' has a problem with flash, in play mode full screen it freezes ' does that mean the game flashes and freezes when you try to play fullscreen?

    (c) is the problem only occurs when you play games?

After the description of the problem, looks like a display driver problem. Please visit the website of the manufacturer of the system, download and install the latest display drivers for Windows 7 to support titles that require a graphics card intensive.

  • Activate Windows now or later

Help, my computer has been set up on automatic updates-August 27, 2011 total 27 records updated. A being 2508958 KB Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and 25 other people who say security updates. I continue to put off restarting my computer, I was in the middle of some work. Monday, August 29, 2011 had tired of the pop up and restarted my computer. All the * broke loose. He asked for me to activate Windows NOW or later, need a new activation key. I use the one in the back of my computer, but he said that it was not good. Windows Vista came installed on my computer (gateway GT5662). I went to Microsoft chat line for 2 hours and went back and not luck. Again I call gateway or my provider internet and it said it wasn't their problem. I called gateway and had someone in the third word, difficult to understand, and we got nowhere. All they wanted to do me was reformat and re install all the software again and make a copy of my data. I didn't do it. Then I upgraded me to supervisor and the same results. They said to call Microsoft, it was a Windows problem. Three hours and no help. I did not understand them and they could not understand me. Then I went to Microsoft again and dial the 1-800-831-9601 at 10:16 on August 30, 2011. They spoke of how they could help me and had me install some software so that they can take over and fix my computer. After one hour after the call, I was struck with 239.99 costs upward to fix my computer. They show me the files that need to come off and said it was the problem. At this point I was so much rest I said fix it and paid the money. Then they said to do, I have a laptop and I said yes and they said it was only a matter of time before the same thing happens to it. Again, I've been talking to spend another 239.99 and they took over my lap top working on both at the same time. They install some programs and said how it was during a time of lifting and it would fix everything. Well so far I didn't this problem with the laptop. But they want to try one thing after another and they was not able to set activate Windows now or later that was my only concern. After 22:30, they asked if they could call back Wednesday and finished. When this happens, I lost all of my Microsoft Office 2007 so it keep saying that the user could not give the right to use the program and it has not been found. I have my key for this also, but it won't let me try to re - enter the keys. I was getting 0xC004F033 and 0X80004005 error codes. After reading some of the question, I've posted wonder was legal or not. They had control of my computers up to eight hours. Here is a copy of a receipt for one I paid. Thanks for choosing computer support 24/7, now I'm wondering whether I was talking to Microsoft. I don't have the money to pay for both and they had me send this email to them. Which they type. Until the post I read, I thought it was Microsoft calling. Now, I don't know what thinking and have paid for a computer and the one I always claim not working and asking the activation key. I don't know what to do. I have the key that is listed in the computer and no other figure to put back. What is - this on the update which gives people a problems. My printer driver will not work. What can I do else, I tried to restore to an earlier date, but it does not work. I went in and uninstalled the update of Windows, but when I restarted my computer it them installed again. Help Help Help. Carrie Walker

    Hi Carrie Walker,

You can try to uninstall the update and try to hide the update which is at the origin of the problem.

    Step 1:

You can read the following article to uninstall an update.

    Remove an update

    Step 2:

    a. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.

    (b) in the left pane, click search for updates, and then, when Windows finds updates for your computer, click on view available updates.

    c. right-click on the update, you do not want to install and then click Hide update. The next time you check the updates, the update will not be automatically selected or installed.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • Windows 7 OEM Pro 32 Bit will provide drivers? Espescially LAN driver?

If I install a recently purchased new Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit OEM, will I lose my drivers, especially my LAN driver.  After Windows 7 type of installed clean detail he worked drivers with digital signatures to Microsoft.  OEM provides the generic Microsoft drivers as the retail versions do?  I have more key for my retail copy.  I did the upgrade of Windows 10, he wiped my Windows 7, I did a clean install of Windows 7, but it will not activate without lost key.

    Hello

If previous retail Windows 7 clean install provided drivers I needed, the OEM 7 would also provide them (for the same devices)?

Not necessarily, because you may have been using Dell recovery media which has been customized by Dell and injected with drivers specific for your model Dell computer at the factory.

Long version of the question below

About network drivers for all three machines currently running Windows 7, but do not activate or allow changes (bad copy needed to recover from 10 Windows could not upgrade).

    1. I have a Dell Dimension E521, currently using

According to the Dells, the latest drivers that they have is for Windows Vista, you can use.

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dimension-E521/drivers

Its most likely the Windows 7 installation media will have the class drivers appropriate for at least your Broadcom, which you can use to connect to the Internet and update via Windows Update.

Still download important factors in advance to have at least a working system:

Which architecture of Windows 7 are install you, 32 bit or 64 bit?

Broadcom 440 x 10 100 embedded controller v4.60.0.1 (bcm4sbxp.sys) digitally signed by Microsoft, I think that the previous clean install of Windows 7 at retail.

1.a. I copied from my Dell Windows 7 PC existing (bcm4sbxp.sys) to my network.

1.b.  Dell offers no support for this model using Windows 7.

1.c. downloaded from Broadcom 4401 for XP Vista & as: bcm4sbxp.sys, b44win.inf, b44win.cat; that seems to be what I use for Windows 7, but these files are not executable (s) then how would a re-install?

2.c. Zip includes; yk62x86.sys, yk62x86.inf, yk62x86.cat; that seems to be what I currently have for Windows 7, but none of the files are executable, so, how would I install the driver?

    1. downloaded from Marvell under Win7 Server 2008-R2 32-bit - 11.45.4.3.zip.

Even download accurate to Marvell for Acer and Gateway
