  I built and installed cx_Oracle 5.1.1 for use on Solaris, but did not put in a package IPS - too many ongoing projects. This is fine on my todo list (as well as changes upstream).

  In the meantime, here's what you need to know.

  First of all - the wrapper pycc we ship in Solaris is written assuming that use Solaris Studio options to the compiler. That's why you have seen ' gcc: unrecognized option '-KPIC' "in the output above. To avoid this, install the Solaris Studio compiler-, it is available on the repository solarisstudio pkg.oracle.com; Please see Oracle Solaris Studio downloads for details.

  Secondly - I had to create symbolic links by hand in the Oracle Instant Client directory after the installation of the archive. I don't know if you need to do when installing pkg://solarisstudio/developer/solarisstudio-123/library/oic-libs and pkg://solarisstudio/developer/solarisstudio-123/oic. One thing that the option Archive gives you the option to install the client libraries 64-bit as well.

  Once I had the instant client bits installed, I ran the setup.py like this script:

  $ ORACLE_HOME = / opt/oracle/instant_client_11_2 LD_LIBRARY_PATH = / opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2: python setup.py

  No, it is not possible, the clone requirement is the source and target must be compatible to the binary format.

  I am following the Doc #238276.1, and I am applying techstack interop patch 4139957 (already applied the specific fix personalized).
  
  But if I run adpatch, I got the following and these binaries are HP.

  Were you able to apply the update custom using adpatch without error? If so and the problem with the executable files will appear only after applying this fix, then I would say that connect you a SR.

  I want to track the memory usage by a process of oracle on sun solaris 64-bit SPARC system.
  
  I tried to do it by the command of the PMAC, but I found that the output for each pid (process oracle) is even around 8GB. Please note that the 8 GB is the size of our LMS.
  
  Please let me know the command by which I can check that "how much memory that uses an oracle on Sun Solaris Sparc 64-bit server process.

  On the unix database do not depend on any service from the OS. It save it yourself in the registry. Droping the database on any UNIX flaver is so very simple, just delete all files in database, Redolog files, control file, spfile, password file

  You can find the files of data dba_data_files v$ datafile
  Redolog v$ logfiles
  controlfiles v$ controlfiles

  Now I need to install 11.1.0.6 gateways in a separate House. I threw down the following:
  1 install the Sybase under the new GW_ORACLE_HOME bridge
  2 create a new listener (new port 1522) of the gateway using GW_ORACLE_HOME netca
  3 bring change to listener.ora under GW_ORACLE_HOME
  4 restart the gateway listener
  5. configure Oracle Database for the gateway by creating tnsnames.ora entry under ORACLE_HOME
  6. create the database link
  
  question A) I'm missing any measure or is all that I need to do?
  
  question (B) do I have to run the 11.1.0.7 Group of patches on GW_ORACLE_HOME so?

  You must edit a gateway init file pointing to the Sybase database, that you want to access. YES configures only the news of connect - if you need other settings you need to add.

  With regard to the Group of hotfixes 11.1.0.7 - I highly recommend to apply the last group of patches, because it contains fixes for many known issues.
