Install SSD on V15 V5 - 591 G - 71 Q 8

Hey friends,

Just caught the V15 V5 - 591G - 71Q 8 from Newegg. Have a pretty sweet Crucial BX100 1 TB SATA SSD 2.5 "in my old laptop that I am trying to transfer. Figured out how make work stupid Windows 10, but Acer has always is not recognizing the drive. When you try to start, I get a no boot device message, and it appears with the model number of the drive when you look at the boot order in the BIOS. What gives? I traded out with the HARD drive it came with. In theory, everything should just work, right? I know the drive works. I use it now in my old laptop of this post. I'm doing something wrong?

He spent three days on this thing, and I'm about to return it if I can't get this to work.

Pls halp T_T

So I recently installed an SSD in the iMac.But that I do not have a temperature sensor to be installed on the SSD.

    Spec as follow

Ive been doing some research online and people said to avoid this direction fan / running on Full constantly to install SSD Fan Control, which i have and the fan became silent again.

How ever look at the screen, if I put my hand up to left (rear panel) it seems to be real hot where the inverter card is I think?

    -What is normal?

I've included some photos of SSD Fan Control temperature readings (SSD temp must be SATA as there is no sensor on it)

I can't give you a reading temp of the left rear of the screen.

Any information that would be great.

Very simple, you must contact OWC (www.macsales.com) by phone and ask about their temperature sensor cable. You need to then open up and install the cable. Otherwise, your computer may overheat and cook something.

  • 15 - ak050nw, SSD SM951-NVMe: can install SSD SM951-NVMe (samsung) on HP Pavilion 15-ak050nw?

    Dear,

Can install SSD SM951-NVMe m2 (samsung) on HP Pavilion ak050nw 15.

I bought HP Pavilion 15-ak050nw and would like to add SSD m2 plus fast then 5xxMb/s

Win10 will start in SSD, m2

    I think

    Disk Samsung SSD 256Go 2280, PCIe 3.0 m2 (MZVPV256HDGL-00000)

    Interface: M.2 (NGFF) PCI-Express NAND: 16nm MLC

I have not found a clear answer on this forum

Could you support me or send another proposal of SSD m2

    Cordially RaPa

Not just type SATA M.2 mSSDs:

    M.2 SATA - 3 (NGFF): ● SSD 256 GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC ● SSD 128 GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC ● SSD 128 GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, value DRAM-less

    Repair manuals

The speed of reading and writing on a SATA m2 will be right about 500 Mbps. about the same as a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

You should be aware that many users are problems to get the system to recognize a drive m2 on laptops that don't come with a m2 of factory. HP is not give much explanation, but it seems that the m2 slot can be disabled in the BIOS:

  • HP Compaq dc7800: can I install SSD on HP Compaq dc7800 Minitour Convertible?

    Hello

Can I install SSD on HP Compaq dc7800 Minitour Convertible?

Should I notice something special in this SSD buying?

I need to by a "cage" for the SSD?

    Hello:

A problem you will have, is that there will be no support on this model, which means that you will not be able to optimize the drive SSD TRIM.

This is because the PC has only two parameters of the disk controller... RAID and IDE.

Support RAID TRIM is not introduced by Intel until the 7 Series chipsets came out.

Yours has a 3 series chipset.

That's the only reason why I have not put an SSD in my dc7800.

Another problem you may encounter, it's that my dc7800 rejected all the sata III drives I have installed unless it's a SATA III which came with a HP PC.

I had to take the disk of 1 TB SATA III out of my Elite CMT 8200 and exchange with the one I bought for my dc7800 because she had the symptoms listed in this HP newsletter below...

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.Oid=3718645&calledBy=&AC.admitted=1379354458533.876444892.199480143&docid=emr_na-c02711513-3&docLocale=

I first thought the WD Caviar Black drive I bought was defective and I returned it.

When the spare drive did the same thing, I understood that there was some sort of compatibility issue and came across the above document.

Bottom line... I didn't do it.

  • Hi, install SSD on Acer Aspire VN7 - 591 G-70RT and setting for the primary boot device?

    Hello

I have an Acer Aspire VN7 - 591 G-70RT that came with a Western Digital blue 5400 RPM HARD drive which is limitation of my performance of laptops. I contacted Acer recently to ask for upgrades that might be made and they confirmed that I could build an SSD 256 GB and up to 16 GB of ram.

I bought an SSD now and install, but I wanted to ask how I could continue on the definition of the SSD as my main drive.

At this point, I guess I could install the SSD, then select it as primary boot device in the BIOS by pressing F2, and then install windows 10 via my USB. If this should be good to reboot or the existence of windows on my current HARD drive causes a conflict?

    Thank you

I have the device works now and here's what I did.

    WEAR AN ANTI STATIC BAND:

Step 1) remove all the screws on the underside of the laptop

Step 2) use spudger or credit GENTLY lift a gap between the keyboard and the base, then use the credit card to slide slowly into the space to jump open clips, NOT FORCE.

Step 3) (OPTIONAL) remove the keyboard connectors by moving clip and gently remove the cable from the Jack. However the HARD drive slipped in for me without necessary to detach.

Step 4) unplug original WD HDD blue reversing the clip and disconnect the cable

Step 5) close laptop together and boot with Windows 10 USB install

Step 6) install windows on new SSD (for me windows automatically activated via the BIOS/UEFI) if it doesn't happen for you, simply re-attatch the original HARD disk.

Step 7) if the activation is successful, again set HARD drive and original format. I have kept all the original ACER RECOVERY and Partitions (Healthy) in case I need to restore factory default, but formatted primary partition.

  • Install a second SSD in V15 VN7 - 592G possible?

    Dear all,

    I have a VN7 - 592 G - 747C that came with a 1 to + 8 GB SSD Toshiba HDD.

Is it possible to add a second SSD to this laptop?

If not, is it possible to replace this HARD drive with an SSD? I looked around and I saw that we could run into problems is not to have the right/connection cable, etc. I have no experience with SSD drives an explanation on what type of disks can be installed in this laptop would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Honestly, the Acer store (authorized service center) will be the best solution. This model is not really easy to upgrade.

I'll give you a few models of SSD M.2 2280 (you don't need no cable):

You will also need a small fix/lock screw it: 86.MQJN1.002 - LIVE. M2xL3

  • Missing utilities after installing SSD and restoring from Time Machine

Today, I installed an SSD on my mid-2012 13 "MBP (Mavericks running) and then ran the restoration of service Time Machine to bring back everything that I used. All right, except that now I have discovered that Time Machine never backup my Utilties like disk utility, same Terminal is missing.

I have a bootable USB with the Mavericks installation app on it, but now if I run, it's going to destroy everything Time Machine has done to restore (my CC Adobe apps and plugins, for example)? I would upgrade to El Capitan, but I use an old Wacom which does not have the drivers for the last OS X, so I'm stuck for now (do not want to buy a new Wacom immediately).

Any ideas on how I can get these dos utilities without using the re - install or upgrade process? I watched the old backups TM and they aren't there either.

You will have to reinstall the operating system to get the dos utilities.

Start of recovery volume (command - R on a restart, or hold down the option/Alt during a restart and select the Volume of recovery). Run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no error. Then re-install the operating system.

  • Clean install SSD - OWC?

I'm a late 2012 Mac mini server that I use as a desktop computer. Last week, I replaced one of the disks 1 to with an OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6 G 120 GB. OWC seems to be well-regarded and that was their player compatible with my most popular mini, I swapped the 1 TB for the SSD without problem.

I had previously done a clean install on the disk of 1 TB of my mini and I am familiar with the creation of a Setup disk, I tried to do a clean install again on the SSD that failed (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7592029).

Finally, I had a recovery Partition installed which took my slow rural connection of many hours, and let me go back to Mavericks, then I was an upgrade of the El Capitan 10.11.5.

Is that the reason for the new thread, I am uncomfortable that I cannot do a clean install with this SSD and trying to determine if this is the exact model, brand or a problem with SSD in general is the problem (I even tried a second disc of this model). I even though it is possible that the 10.11.5 install was the question, but I tried installing to an SD card in my mini, which went without a hitch and I could start it.

So, for those who have done a 'clean install' on a 3rd party SSD, they added to their machine:

Were you able to complete the installation without error?

Do you have what version of Mac OS X installed?

What brand and model of the Player did you use?

    What Mac model you have?

I am trying to root out, why it does not work and if it's just the brand / model of the disk or something more, any other idea you can offer would be helpful. I want a drive that I can do a clean install, 10.11.5 at least for the moment and I hope to new OS X that are coming (I know that no one can guarantee that).

    -Thank you

Who say replace with the SSD? The bottom (nearest the black cover on the bottom) or the top? Some users have reported problems with an SSD in the upper Bay.

  • the start-up of the firewire drive how to again install ssd internal?

Hi, I have not used assistant Migration but opted for clean installs the upgrade from 2009 to 2015 MBP.

I'm good to go except the old is only bootable from disk firewire external, how to take the exact image of what I use (mess on the desktop and documents!) more to the internal ssd that I already deleted and partitioned?

I want it essentially as it looks and works from the firewire drive, now start and look just as it does internal ssd

Do I need to initiate a new installation of El Cap first of all on the ssd? or is there a tool/way to copy such existing firewire bootable environment on the internal hard drive?

Thank you for taking the time to examine this problem.

    Rick

Although apparently you can start an external drive to snow leopard, it will not work if installed on the internal drive. As it is not backward compatible.  Otherwise I would say cloning the drive on the internal drive. Migration wizard is the only thing I can tell you to use. But be aware that some of the apps for Snow Leopard will not run in the new computer and the operating system. You should see if there are updates for them. Then you need to recreate the desktop again.

  • IdeaPad y510p clean Windows 7 install - SSD not detected

I bought a new Ideapad y510p just before Christmas and I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 7-64 bit.

I created a USB startup device as required and put the drivers from lenovo on her page too.

My problem is: after you delete the partitions, the installer of windows 7 do not recognize the SSD more...
My BIOS is set with legacy of disabled secure boot support.

Furthermore, when it came to load the drivers, it says no driver signed device not found.

Someone has an idea of what's going on?

    Hi Clet,

Since the serial number on this picture, you have the 59375625 model. After digging further, this parts search page and this point merchant does not seem an SSD on the specifications list. If the reception / box indicates that you have a 1 TB + 24 GB SSD, you may need to check under the hood (see pages 38-39 of the hardware maintenance manual)

    (6) installed the new HD (as-is to the supplier) on the slot of the dv7 second disc using caddy and cable. - Fact

    (10) Ran / storage / disk (Local) management - showed no new HD, just the SSD and the CD-ROM.

I guess the new HD and cable are ok since step 7 showed his information and step 8 showed it has passed its tests.

The new does HD must be partitioned and formatted to be identified in point 8.1 of Windows?

Upgrade to Windows 10 will fix the problem?

Note: I unplugged the new HD SATA port and connected directly to my dv7 via a USB 3.0 port.  When I ran it again / storage / disk (Local) the new HD management has been shown (without drive letter and no file system designation) with 3 partitions.

Any help getting my dv7 recognize the new HD would be greatly appreciated,

    Hi @pmhanson,

It is a wonderful place to find answers and suggestions.

You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the HP Forums.

Learn how to post and more

I understand that you have properly installed the SSD as boot drive. You have installed a new HD and it is recognized in the bios and passed all the tests. With the two drivers installed internally you started Windows but when you check the disk management it does not list the new HD.  While in disk management have you tried clicking on "Action and selecting"Analyze the disks?"

When you have removed the hard drive and connected with the USB cable, the drive is listed and you saw 3 partitions on it with partitions without designation of file system and the drive letter. If the Player did not recognize when you did the rescan in disk management, because it is recognized when connected with USB, you can try to reformat the drive and assigning a driver letter when you are logged here.  Now, restart your laptop if you reinstall the internal drive, if it recognizes the drive?

Please let me know the results.

  • Install SSD on m7-n101dx

I am installing an SSD on a new HP Envy 17 "(m7-n101dx)."

I can't find this laptop service manuals that provide instructions on replacing the hard drive.

It is regrettable that the laptop does not seem to have a service on the bottom panel.  It seems that the merits of the case must be removed.

Does anyone know of a manual that provides instructions on how to replace the hard drive for this model?

I just installed my last generation 840 EVO in a new m7-n101dx DESIRE and it was much more complicated than what I am used to with the quality of HP consumer laptops.  HP no longer makes it easily accessible to replace memory, hard drives, etc.

    #1 solution:

Return the ENVY and buy a real enterprise-class laptop.

    #2 solution:

(The set is pretty flimsy and cheap.  Proceed with caution).

Remove each screw at the bottom of the laptop as well as all the screws black of the battery compartment.  Remove the optical drive, then unscrew the two matte black screws located at the edge of the optical drive Bay.  Release GENTLY the shell all bottom of laptop computer half body superior (keyboard surface) of the laptop.  It is easier to start from the leading edge and aim the rear corners by the hinges of the screen.  Once you separate the halves of the laptop, all components become available.  The HARD drive is connected to the motherboard with a Ribbon connector.  If you can disconnect carefully end SATA drive HARD with this that soft limited there, there's no need to mess with the end of the ribbon cable.
