  I plugins in these locations:

  /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
  /usr/lib/browser-plugins/

  One possibility is to create a ~/.mozilla/plugins/ directory and place a symbolic link to the file to plugin Java libnpjp2.so in this folder to see if it helps.

  I wonder why the IBM java that comes with SLES 11 is not meet your needs, but that is a different debate completely.

  It looks like the jre installation instructions are assuming that there is no such thing as SLES 10 as when you look at the directory of plugins for firefox.

  To get the plugin works I did the following:

  1. I installed the jre as shown (that is dire./jre-6u26-linux-x64-rpm.bin)

  2 created a directory of plugins in/usr/lib64/firefox /.

  3. then modified the rights on the directory (chmod 755/usr/lib64/firefox/plugins /)

  4. has created a softlink in the libnpjp2.so file
  ln-s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_26/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so

  5 restart firefox and checked for the plugin, who was there.

  6. went to www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp and got the message "your Java work.

  What the above assumes that you are using the 64-bit version of SLES 11, but I think that the same thing on a 32-bit installation would work also.

  The alternative is to use the yast software management and install version 1.6 of the IBM Java, which is included with SLES 11 making sure that you also install the java plugin rpm.

• Can Quicktime 7.7.9 automatically re-install the web plugins?

  I am familiar with the installation in silent mode for Quicktime.  In the past, it has always worked well.  However, with QuickTime 7.7.9, it deliberately delete on the web plugins in the installation/update.  Documentation indicates that in order to get the rear plugins, rerun the Setup program and select them specifically.

  OK - Fortunately, I answered my own question.  If you open the MSI in Orca (or whatever the MSI editor), you will see a switch is available: INSTALLLEVEL

  So:

  msiexec /i Quicktime.msi /qn... INSTALLLEVEL = 4...

  .. .will be install all the existing stuff (including web plugins).  If you really want to get detailed, I guess you could create a .mst in Orca, which specifies INSTALLLEVEL 3 for components inherited from stuff and the web.  You can specify the INSTALLLEVEL = 3 and leave out the inherited things, you don't want (like the java plugin).
