Install the Virtual Machine
Hi all
I hate to ask such a stupid question...
What is the trick to install a virtual machine? The home screen just goes by so fast and I don't have enough time to connect to my drive to install the operating system. Is there a setting somewhere that slows down, so I have the time to plug my hard drive?
Thank you
Hi WJCC.
Access the advanced settings of your virtual machine. You can add a delay to the boot process.

How to install the virtual machine tools
I am new to this, and it's fun to find how to do everything. I'm stuck now, so need some help, I did search but could not find definitive answers.
I have ESXi installation, it will run on a dedicated slide. I have a windows-based virtual machine that I use to test.
I downloaded the iso of VM Tools for Linux to install on the server so that I can push to the client virtual machines. I can't understand how to install the VM on the server tools so that I have the option in the console to push to turn the VM to the client tools.
Is there something I'm completely missing? The iso is for linux, which is the server. I assumed it would be installed on the server that would allow me to push to windows clients.
Help, please!
VMware tools for Windows is already included in the installation of ESX.
Customer Infrastructure using, go to the console of the virtual Windows computer and logon. Right-click of the virtual machine in the inventory on the left, then select "install/upgrade VMware tools. If Autorun is enabled the installation starts automatically, if not the Windows.iso is loaded into the virtual computer CD-ROM drive and you have to run setup.exe.

How to install the virtual machine to ISO image
Rather than burning a CD from ISO images downloaded from each OS you want to build a virtual machine it would be more convenient to use the ISO image directly. How can I achieve this?
Create the virtual computer with CD player.
Double click the CD drive in the virtual machine properties.
Select USE AN ISO IMAGE
Navigate to the image.
and also you can refer to this link
VMware Workstation 12 Pro Documentation Center
you're installation uses several CDs pleae follow this procedure
First duty (if the customer has a button for this) eject the CD in the comments, then ctrl-alt to focus the host, right click on the CD icon in the bar area of low right state of the workstation user interface and select disconnect; repeat, and then click edit. Select the image ISO next necessary; reconnect; then click the mouse back in the window of the customer and to know that the next CD is loaded.

If I install the Virtual Machine on Windows 7 Ultimate can I run Windows 98SE on it?
I have some old programs that I want to use and which are not compatible with Windows 7.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831461 and https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/VBox_vs_Others.
Note that Windows Virtual PC does not support versions of Windows prior to XP version.

Unable to add the virtual machine network services
Hello:
I already read that warning Virtual PC 2007 is not compatible with win 7-64.
However, I read that it is "unofficially" possible launch.
OK, I installed it and it worked except networking.
Basically, I need to install the Virtual Machine Network Services.
I right click on my network card-> properties-> install-> services-> virtual machine network services (VPC2007 folder: where I can see VMNetSrv.inf)
Then says Windows: it is impossible to add the requested feature. The specified service has been marked for deletion. The problem is that I get this error even on WinXP SP3, so I think that there is something else wrong.
And of course, Virtual PC 2007 available networks are only: no connection, Local, NAT. (Missing my physical adapter)
Thank you!!!

Dear all,
I installed the virtual machine with Windows 2008 32 Bit Standard Edition. Compact, his oar was 2 GB at this time there, everything was fine, I increased the ram to 4 GB. Now my Easerver 6.3.1 got crashed and pursuant to the original agreement we also reinstalled/reconfigured EA server, but it is always showing 2048 MB of memory instead of 4 GB.

Yes - you can
but that will make your VM very slowset
prefvmx.minVmMemPct = "50".or less - allowing you to approve the RAM
Set this parameter in your config.ini file -
While the installation of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 c on my Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) operating system (not sure if the 2002 version in it's original state included SP1), EULA (EULA) provided the contract included a paragraph stating that "ONLY in regards to THE VIRTUAL MACHINE MICROSOFT FOR JAVA, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED to INSTALL THIS OS COMPONENT ON A MACHINE THAT CONTAINS A ALREADY the VERSION OF THE MICROSOFT JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE". Assuming that the MSJVM was included with Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002), I advanced and accepted the EULA. I then downloaded and installed Windows XP SP2 and SP3, but wasn't sure whether SP2 and SP3 removed the MSJVM in any point. However, research on the question, I discovered the site "FAQ of Transition MSJVM" (updated May 7, 2004), who answered the question: ' if I install Windows XP SP1a or later, it will remove my current MSJVM? " with "No, the operating system upgrade will not remove a MSJVM existing on the computer" (http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/interoperability/java/faq.aspx). However, I can't find any instance of it on my computer.
So my questions are:
- Windows XP Home (Version 2002) Edition include SP1?
- The MSJVM is installed on this version?
- SP2 or SP3 removes the MSJVM in any point to?

Undetected after the fresh install ESXi virtual machines
Hello
I have to say I really enjoyed working with ESXi, but I run a quick question for the moment.
I initially installed ESXi 5 on an SD card and created several virtual machines via vSphere Client Windows. Because of the card SD comes off on the reboot (using a Dell R610), I have now decided to install ESXi 5 on a USB key. However, when I open the Windows of vSphere client, I do not see the virtual machines on the host, but I see that they are always present in the VMFS data store that I created earlier. When I boot from the SD card, they appear very well.
I have to migrate somehow?
Thank you very much for your help!
As this is a new installation of ESXi you can save the VMs from the data store as the inventory.xml on the new facility can be empty.
Measures to save the virtual machine using vmx are available on Ko http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1006160

I get the text following error encrypted every time that I boot Windows XP in VMWare Fusion, since I've upgraded to version 4.02 a few months ago. So I upgraded to version 5.02 hoping the error would go, but he didn't.
When I try to start it, it says "he has at least a virtual SCSI device installed on this virtual Windows XP computer.
Windows XP does not include the drivers for the card SCSI BusLogic VMware Fusion uses virtual SCSI devices. To use these virtual SCSI devices, install the VMware driver in the virtual machine. "Download the driver of"http://vmware.com/info?id=43"."Once I have to dismiss the message, everything seems to work properly. How can I make this message disappear?I tried to go to the useless link that is provided (http://vmware.com/info?id=43), but it takes me just for a general download for all VMWare products page. Then I tried searching for "SCSI" but it does not have the driver, I'm supposedly dedicated research
After doing a bit of searching around, I finally found a driver called "vmscsi - 1.2.0.4.flp ', I connect to my virtual floppy drive. Once I did, my virtual machine wouldn't boot (I get the error "NTDLR is missing.) I then unplugged the virtual floppy drive, and now my virtual machine starts again. I then re-connected the drive floppy and discovered the following content:Disk.TagTxtsetup.OEMvmscsi.catvmscsi.infsmscsi.sysOK... Now what? No installer? What the hell am I supposed to do with it? I tried a double click on all of these files and have no significant results. When the pilot is supposed to go? No instructions? -What VMware calls "support"?The VMware Tools GUI has been removed because it has now integrated with the Virtual Machine settings, however you can still use the command line.

I have Windows Server 2003 is installed on a virtual machine in VMware Workstation 8. I need it to learn and practice the use of the Active Directory. I've also set up 3 Windows XP workstations connect to it, which means that they can communicate with Server 2003. What is lacking is the Internet connection on all of them. When I run ping 8.8.8.8 in one of these virtual machines, I get, 'Destination host unreachable.'
I'm not sure, what if the problem comes from the settings in Windows or the settings of the virtual machine.
Can someone help me?
Thank you, guys. I was finally able to put in place. It was quite an ordeal to deal with IP addresses and virtual networks. Here's how I did (in the screenshots) in case someone else needs it.
(I also confess that it is perhaps one of the ways to implement. Maybe there is an easier way to do it with DHCP...)
1. in your computer where is installed VMware Workstation 8 begin the "Virtual Network Editor." It is located in the folder of installation of VMware Workstation. And implement the network following (VMnet2 in my case):
2 then in VMware Workstation itself in the virtual machine when Windows Server 2003 is installed set up two network as connections:
This one is for external access to the Internet:
And this one for intranet communications AD:
3. then in the machine virtual de Windows Server 2003 set up what follows for two network adapters:
For Internet access:
Then, you need allow this connection to share:
And then for the ad access to workstations (ensure that the static IP address is in the range specified in the virtual network over VMnet2 network editor). I've also set up DNS to 127.0.0.1 because I installed on this Windows 2003 DNS server:
4. from the Windows 2003 VM try ping 8.8.8.8. It should work now.
5. go to each workstation, in my case, Windows XP, each in its own virtual machine and set up the network in the VMware Workstation as follows:
6. then in the virtual machine, configure the network connection for Windows XP workstation. Don't forget to assign a new static IP address for each workstation, which not coinside with IP of the domain (this IP address must come from the range specified in the virtual network over VMnet2 network editor):
7. try first ping the domain, in my case ping 192.168.237.128. And then Internet, ping 8.8.8.8. The two should work!
Continue with steps [5-7].

How to get the MAC address of the virtual machine on which vmware tool is not installed
Hello
In our project, we communicate to vCenter/ESX and details of virtual machines using the VI - Java 4.0.0 SDK APIs
I use PropertyCollector for details.
But in the following cases
1. a virtual machine is poweredOff.
2 VMware tool is not installed on the virtual machine.
I am not able to get the mac using the PropertyColector address.
To get the macaddress property I use after crossing spec:
rootFolder (folder)-> childEntity (data center)-> hostFolder (Folder)-> childEntity (ComputerResource)
-> host (Hostsystem)-> vm-> guest (GuestInfo)-> net (GuestNicInfo)-> macaddress (in Virtualmachine)
I know the vSphere client uses the VI SDK to perform all operations, and I am able to see the macAddress of VirtualMachine in cases using vSphere client.
Is any body please help me get the macaddress of VM in the two cases.
Thank you
Deepak
Take a look at the dashboard feature of the virtual machine and specifically "VirtualEthernetCard": http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vc-sdk/visdk400pubs/ReferenceGuide/vim.vm.device.VirtualEthernetCard.html
When you assign a new vNIC to each virtual machine, a unique MAC address generated is given by default. If you still want to map the actual interface of the guestOS, then you would take a look at guestInfo as you may have noticed IF you have the VMware Tools. Although the default is whence the MAC address

Oracle installed on the virtual machine
Hello world!
In one of the server, Oracle is installed on a virtual machine.
I have to make a change in the way I set up the file settings or something else to improve performance?
What a difference, is to have the Oracle in the area directly compared to what in the virtual machine?
Hope to hear some tips.
Thank you. :)

There is no difference running Oracle in a virtualized environment or on a box. For the performance gain, the same number of steps are necessary as normally are required. Read the guide to performance optimization of Oracle doc site corresponding to your version of db http://tahiti.oracle.com.

usable RAM is less to installed in the Virtual Machine
Hi Admins,
I have a 64-bit VM win2008R2. Recently, I've increased the RAM to 64 GB to 32 GB.
But when I look in the system 64 GB (32 GB usable) properties.
This means that the virtual machine has only 32 GB? what needs to be done for the virtual machine to use 64 GB?
could you please help me?
Noufel
You have not written what edition you have, but for example the 'standard' and 'web' editions have maximum 32 GB of RAM. In order to use more, you must have Enterprise/Datacenter/HPC edition...
