Install Windows 7 on Dell Latitude 3540

Currently, I have a Dell Latitude 3540 with installed Windows 8.1.  I found a disk to use to retrieve the 7 (supplied with 7 original) but I come with an error indicating that the GPT partitions are not in the recommended order.  I therefore continue and get after the step to register is made it freezes on Windows startup.  Please help me get past this stage and have you for your time.

Hi eagles4585,

Please try to reinstall the OS again and this time remove all available partitions and re-create a new partition to solve the problem.

Note: Removal of partition table and recreate a partition will result in data loss.

  • I tried to install windows 7 on a latitude of E6230...

When I tried to install windows 7 on a dell latitude, it could not configure windows 7 pro...

I would appreciate any help on this as it is very annoying! Also, I'll try a new installation of windows 10 soon, will this instalation of windows work or there will be problems like windows 7 a pro?

We understand. Will we know what is the error you get when you create a user account? When you say that it's not all still means that you are not able to go to the Office page? If you are able to go to the page desk and cannot create a user account, you can follow the steps below:

    1. Click the Start button. It is the small round button at the bottom left of your screen which has a Windows flag on it.
    2. Click on the Control Panel menu option.
    3. When Control Panel opens, you will see a screen similar to Figure 1 below.

    4. click on the option Add or remove user accounts Panel control as indicated by the red arrow in figure 1.

    5. you will now be in the control panel for managing the accounts as shown in Figure 2 below.

This screen shows all of the accounts that are currently on your computer. To create a new account, click create a new account as indicated by the red arrow above.

    6. you will now be in the screen create a new account.

In the new account name field, enter the name of the new account that you want to create. This could be a first name, last name, or any other name you want to give. You must then determine which of the two types of accounts you want to create. An administrator account has full access to the computer and can make any changes, install the software and create and delete accounts. The other type of account is a Standard user and has limited privileges as to what adjustments and changes, it can make to the computer. It is suggested that for all users, use you them as one user account Standard and have an administrator account that you can connect to the need. This will protect your computer from malware and other harmful activities.

When you are finished selecting a name and the type of account you want the installation program, you must click on the create account button.

    7. your new account will be created and you will see that he listed in the account management screen.

As you can see our new user called Test account, was created.

Now when you start Windows 7, you'll see the extra account listed on the logon screen. This user can change their login name and connect their profile so they can access their private data.

  • Screen turns black during the installation of Windows 8 on Dell Latitude E6400

    Hello

    I have a Dell Latitude E6400

    Intel Centrino 2

    4 GB OF DDR2 RAM

    HARD DRIVE 160 GB

    Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz

    NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M 256 MB DDR2

I'm doing a clean install of Windows 8 pro 64 bit. The problem is that when I get to the stage where the installation application to connect to a wifi, all of a sudden, the screen goes black and then nothing happens. Sometimes I am able to move on to the next step where the installation process asks if I would like to use express settings or customize it. The same thing happens on this stage too. I could not go any further than this step.

I tried dozens of times, even tried 2 different iso files and event tried a 32-bit Windows 8.

Same thing happens evrytime, black screen and then nothing. I wasn't able to find that everything related to the internet.

One last thing, if it's a problem of display driver, I can't set either because I already formatted my HARD drive.

Can someone help me please:(c'est vraiment frustrant.)

    Thank you

    Hi shayanjalil,

Dell Latitude E6400 has not been tested by Dell for Windows 8. You won't find drivers of Windows 8 for this system.

  • Re-install Windows 7 from Dell reinstallation DVD fails with "cannot configure Windows for your hardware.

I have to do a ground up to Windows 7, re - install media re-installing Win7 provided, due to the failure of the hard drive (so no available recovery partition).  The machine is a XPS 9000 (circa 2010).   The first phase (partitioning, file copy and extraction) works very well.  However, when I restart in Windows for the first time since the hard drive, I get a message that Windows install can not configure Windows to my hardware.  The only option is to recognize and to restart (which gives the same message).  Subsequent reboots just to say that the Windows installation cannot be completed and restart to install Windows.

Clues to this topic?  I have no new hardware in the machine which would be incompatible with this disc to re - install (admittedly old and probably non - SP1).  I wonder if the drive is missing in fact support that they put in the installation image factory.  My next step is to get a Dutch Win 7 installation disc (probably with SP1) to see if it works.  Other thoughts?

Belarc Advisor only gives you the product key of the registry which, for installation OEM Dell will be a SLP key. This will be different from the key on the COA and can be activated manually by entering it during installation.

The key on the certificate of authenticity can be introduced during the installation and this activation requires a call to Microsoft.

Key/OEM SLP activation can be applied to a retail facility without a product key by using the program and cert ABR files which I saved for installs with the Dell reinstallation DVD:

Although Windows view (s) and begins to install it on the hard drive, it could be an art of hiccups the end with the HDD and loading SATA drivers can always solve this problem.

  • Install Windows 7 on Dell laptop, error "Setup could not create a new partition system or locate an existing partition.

I had Windows Vista ultimate on my Dell Studio laptop which consisted of 3 partitions (OS, recovery and OME).

In order to complete a clean install, I deleted all partitions and create a new 1 and formatted it, but I am informed that the installation was unable to create a new partition system or locate an existing partition.

I tried in IDE and ACHI, but neither enable Sir to go beyond that. I am booting from the CD with Windows 7.  If someone is able to help, they explain in layman's terms, as I am a relative novice.

    Thank you

As the drive was provided by Dell, you need to talk with them.

The disc could be waiting to see the things that you have deleted.

It can also be a type of completely different facility than the normal installation of Microsoft discs.

You would have more than likely been OK if you would leave the formatting alone and partitoning.

  • How can I activate windows on a Dell Latitude 600 with a new CD of xp home?

My computer crashed. He originally had XP Professional on it, but I bought a new CD which is XP Home. Now he does not accept the product key to activate windows.

The only way to your key on the Dell (assuming that says Windows XP Pro) will work is if you use a CORRESPONDING installation CD, which means a generic OEM Windows XP Pro CD. You cannot use a XP Pro key with installation of XP Home Media!

Your best bet is to get a CD of mark Dell XP Pro. And you don't even need to worry about enter a key since Dell uses SLP (System-locked Preinstallation), which means that the activation will have already taken place.
You might even be able to have Dell send you for a small fee:

  • How to recover Windows 7 on Latitude 3540

I bought a Dell Latitude 3540 with Windows 7 Pro.  I installed Windows 8 with the recovery media, but I would like to recover my installation of Windows 7.  Thank you for your time.

If Windows 8 has been installed with the GPT partition style (when UEFI is present, it is the only supported option), all partitions will be deleted. Therefore, in this case, you must contact Dell support by phone, explain the situation and ask for a new DVD of Windows 7.

If Windows 8 has not been installed in the GPT partition style (i.e. in the MBR style), and the recovery partition is not affected, you can start Dell Recovery by pressing F11 or Ctrl + F11 when you see the Dell during the boot logo, and it will restore the PC to Windows 7.

  • MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE?

MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE? PLEASE HELP ME

Read this: upgrade Windows 10 Dell Latitude D610

Take a look at my answer, complete instructions.

Basically speaking, Dell officially supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP on Dell Latitude D610 (and other models of Dx10).

However it can really run Windows Vista and 7 at least, as long as you max out the RAM (2 GB, 2 x 1 GB, can be purchased at a great price in eBay) and install the drivers, in particular graphics drivers, look in Device Manager and see what drivers are needed manually.

If you're lucky to have a D610 with ATi graphics card then you can even run Windows 8 and 10 with all drivers available, and I can tell you that it won't be slow dog not unlike a lot of people say, I don't have something similar (a HP Compaq nx8220) in common use. Keep as lean as possible (not bloatwares, anti-virus etc.) system, and it will serve you well.
