install windows 8.1 Overview

I want to install windows 8.1 Overview on a second partition (already created) & I would like to install it from a USB bootable device (already created) when I just try & install W8.1 on my new partition windows told me to I am uable to do so.  What I am doing wrong, is something to do with my system security settings / start of the HP BIOS?  I also activate 'from start of legacy devices.  Thank you.

Hello

Sorry I didn't know any of this I know: users running Windows 8 now (not an extract) can go to 8.1. 8.1 Overview is at this point, an installation complete, not expandable.

Kind regards.

    Hi all

I was pretty excited on the windows 8.1 Overview, so I was quite disappointed to learn that we can not install it on do our desire to x 2 for a graphics driver issue.  Does anyone have the info/updates on this?

As of today 8.1 still hangs in mode after an extended period, but I have seen no BSOD. Editing overview also installs MS Store right now so that the driver has been fixed. If not, seems quite stable. If you use Skydrive, it's an update worth it for the cool features. The good start menu with all the apps and boot the desktop fills my gripes and now makes a wonderful experience. You must set these options in the BTW taskbar options, because they are not by default.

  • Cannot install windows 8.1 Overview

    Hello world

Then of course I am currently using Windows XP.
I downloaded the ISO 32-bit file (it turns out to be 2.6 GB and not 2.8 GB as mentioned in the download page, is this correct?) it burned on a DVD and I tried to install. the problem is, he gave me this error:
the procedure entry point not found __cxxframehandler3 (with the title being setup.exe - not found entry point). After that, there was a mistake with the autorun file.
What could be the problem here? I want to update and try the 8.1, and I thought that perhaps the problem was the fact I am using XP but I have read that it is possible to go from XP.
    Thank you!

Thanks, now things are a little clearer!

Four other questions and if everything goes well there is no more.
    1. what key I push at the start of my computer to access the BIOS screen?
He touches on that you have to press varies from one factory to another. Look at the bottom of the home screen when you turn on the PC, you should see a message / list of keys to press for different options (example: delete, F9, F12 key).

2 games and programs that work on WIN8 will work to 8.1, right?
Should be, but there is no guarantee. I know that not all software works, so you just need to try it.

3 I can do what you say, but just see if the installation works? Which means, I start from the DVD drive but make sure only that it opens the window of configuration and then cancel it and boot regularly. I guess it's possible, but I ask anyway.

You must stop the installation as soon as POSSIBLE, or it may be too late.

    4. I have read on many sites that you can not go back to XP later, but why can't I just do it? I have the installation disc, just can't reinstall XP as I'm supposed to install 8.1?

You can use a backup application for XP free Image backup on an external USB drive to save you time an effort to restore XP, your applications and documents. Install it on XP and create the "recovery media", then make a backup image. Make sure you can boot from the recovery media to backup XP localization, you created.

  • Can I use the same disk to install Windows in 2 devices

    Hello

I was wondering earlier this year I bought Windows 8 for my laptop game. And now I'm upgrading to a desktop PC Windows games with windows 7, can I use the software disks even if I connect to my Microsoft account. In other words I re can I use the disks if they are associated with the same account?

    No, you can't, 1 license, 1 computer.

The key that can be used with 32-bit or 64-bit of Windows 8 is exclusively for 1 disc. You cannot use install both. 1 license, 1 installation, so choose wisely. If you want to install Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit on another partition or another computer, you must purchase an additional license.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/buy/default.aspx

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/get-a-new-Windows-product-key

If you comply with these license terms, you have the rights below for each license you acquire.

    1 OVERVIEW.

    a. software. The software includes operating system software. This software does not include Windows Live services. Windows

Live is a service available from Microsoft under a separate agreement.

    b. license model. The software is licensed on a basic computer copy. A computer is a physical hardware system with internal storage capable of running the software. A hardware partition or blade is considered be a separate computer.

    2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.

    a. one copy per computer. You can install one copy of the software on a single computer. This computer is "licensed computer.

    b. a computer license. You can use the software on up to two processors of the computer under license at some point. Except as provided in these license terms, you cannot use the software on any other computer.

    c. number of users. Except as provided in these license terms, only one user may use the software at a time.

    d. other Versions. The software may include several versions, such as 32-bit and 64-bit. You may install and use only one version at a time.

  • Pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium - OEM keys - retail keys - COA label underside of the laptop... MESS!

In 2011, I bought a laptop MSI CX 640. Windows 7 Home Edition Premium has come with it preinstalled. With that I think I buy a license for the operating system and the right to use and reinstall it if I need it.

Over the past four years this handyman crossed a lot of Setup on the laptop, including Linux, Windows 8 and 8.1 and Windows 10 technical overview etc.

Fast forward to today and I learned from Microsoft's offer of a free copy of Windows 10 for owners of authentic versions of Windows 7. So, what I have to do is return to the original genuine Windows 7 Home Premium I own and I will be able to reserve my copy of Windows 10 right?

Not so fast, accomplishment that could not and certainly turned out not to be so simple at all.

I had several long phone calls with Microsoft, who finally dumped the hot potato between the hands of MSI.

MSI I have to say has been useful at the beginning, they sent me for free and quickly 2 recovery disks I needed that SHOULD have helped also go back to square one, just like I wanted.

Should, but actually didn't. Recovery fails with an error that seems to imply that the process is looking for a nonexistent disk 3. MSI is perplexed, all that they have these discs and the simple instructions they send with them. In addition, they are totally in the dark and "will not go dark.

However, one representative suggested that if I could get my hands on a copy of the operating system OEM I certainly would be able to install and use the key I have on my laptop MSI low COST label to activate it. His logic I think, so I'm going to work on this. Another detail, I have to mention is that tht key on the COA label is kind of door as they are all are sitting unprotected Abdel low. But I can take a photo in high resolution and with little digital magic improve to a point where I hope I can read almost all of it and try to guess the characters who are still in question.

Or so I thought that, actually, he does not leave 2 possibilities.

I'm guessing either not right (possible but not likely in my opinion, after all the tests I had) or is NOT an OEM key or if it was has now been cancelled.

Now I'm guessing is NOT a key to the retail, who tried with a copy to the details of the operating system.

So where this leave poor me, owner of a license of Windows 7 Edition Family Premium authentic apparently, I can't use.

I hope that one of you readers can help understand me this and I hope my work and tribulations (I'm a very determined guy) can also help some of you in this if you are also in my shoes.

One final note of common sense me:

If I buy a product, whether it is OEM, sale retail or gift from God, I would get with it all licenses, numbers, keys, permissions, instructions, ten commandments necessary to have access to this product at any time and without hassle.

Windows Movie maker 6.0 comes with Vista.
2.6 MM Windows does not come with Vista. It is not a 'new' program. It is a compromise version.

    Overview

Movie Maker 2.6 is for Windows Vista users whose computer cannot run the Vista's Movie Maker version.

To test whether your computer can run Vista's Movie Maker version:

    1. on the start menu, click all programs.
    2. click on Windows Movie Maker.

If Movie Maker starts, you must not download version 2.6.

If you get an error message that says: "Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available", download and install Movie Maker 2.6.
