Install XP Pro original CD upgrade to SP3

I am trying to install Windows XP Pro on my new MacBook.  I have an installation CD for Windows XP Pro, BUT it's the XP of origin dating back to 2000 and it is not recognized by Apple Bootcamp (as it requires SP2).

Is it possible to download the new copy of XP? Or somehow upgrade my installation disc?

What you're talking about is called "slipstreaming".  Because service pack 3 requires at least service pack 1 or 1A, you can't integrate sp3 directly using your original CD-ROM.  Although you could probably create a slipstreamed sp2 cd, and then slipstream sp3 for help that it is probably easier to create just a sp2 CD, install it and then go to Windows Update.

You can get service packs here .  Note that these are only updated to be used to update your original version, full of Windows XP.

Google will give you plenty of hits for xp slipstream or similar.  The most often recommended two utilities are Autostreamer and nLite.  Here's a set of instructions:http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/slipstream.htmand here on the other: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

    Hi Roy Higgins,

Windows update no longer works if you don't have XP SP3 installed. To check your level of service pack system, click on start, run and type "Winver" in the Run dialog box and click on 'OK'.

  • Install Office 2010 with XPSP2 upgraded to SP3 of automatic updates

I just install Office home and student 2010 family, on a new laptop pack and Windows 7. When I try to install on my dsktop (XPSP2 Auto updated to SP3) I get a message "the installer is unable to act because of the following error: ' install and use this product, you must use one of the following programs: x 86 platform: Windows XPSP3'." It seems that she admits not SP3. I check the automatic updates. seems OK, but still "unable to installer.NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1." This happens with the disc or a download of the computer and is exactly the same on my laptop, even set up as an office except Professionan od XP version. I put the problem to MS, but they just turn me round and round in circles.

    See you soon

The site is authentic.  You have two options when you do your relocation:

    Method 1

    1. Download SP3 form the Microsoft site and burn it to a cd or copy it to a flash drive.
    2. Reinstall Windows with your original Windows XP CD.
    3. Use the copy of SP3 that you burned on the CD or copied to the flash drive and update the machine to SP3.  Note that if you have an original CD of 'gold' of Windows XP without service pack that you install SP1a or SP2 before you install SP3, SP2 is available here , download and save it with SP3 before making your relocation.

    Method 2

    1. Download SP3 from the Microsoft site and it wake to your Windows XP CD.
    2. Install Windows XP with your slipstreamed CD and your installation will be in SP3, when installation is complete you will not need to install service packs, you'll just have to do some other updates that have been released after SP3.

The http://lifehacker.com/386526/slipstream-service-pack-3-into-your-windows-xp-installation-cd is legitimate, it only gives you instructions on how to create and burn a CD of SP3 slipstreamed Windows XP.  If this seems too daunting then use method 1 to install Windows.

Both methods are very good but method 2 allows a nicer cleaner installation, everything is installed to SP3 level and there are no remnants of previous service packs.  While creating the slipstreamed CD may appear to be a time consuming task, in the end, it will be a time saver and afterwards if you ever have problems with the installation of Windows you may need this cd SP3 slipstreamed to all repairs on the installation.  You can create the SP3 cd now and do it ready and at hand for future needs.

  • Impossible to get updates of Windows to work and cannot install anything after upgrading to SP3

After the upgrade to SP3 I met many problems. Any time I go to install it I get a Windows Installer error is not installed (even if this is the case) and I have to go to start/run and type Services.msc and the go to the installer of windows and right-click on it and select start and then install what I was tring to do.  Windows Update will not update and I tried to restart the installer and it does not work.  I tried the auto fixes but cannot get them to work because they will not install either or will not run.  I had to uninstall Windows Defender as I am unable to update the definitions it is basically useless.  All this started after I did a full cleaning of the computer and then downloaded the original Windows XP that I bought from Dell.

    Try this:

    Hi mapo1477,

    1. do you get an error at startup of the system?
2 have you tried to start the computer in safe mode?

If you do not get any error message, then we recommend you to start your computer in safe mode and check if it starts successfully on the desktop. If it starts in safe mode, and then restore the computer. To do this, try the following steps:
    a. see the description of the options course in Windows XP Startup Mode
    b. Once you have started your computer in safe mode, restore the computer.
See How to restore Windows XP to a previous state
    c. start the computer and check if the system starts in normal mode.

  • How to install Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license) upgrade to Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license)?

In may 2016, I bought and installed Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license, v. 2015.006.30201) available for download from Dell's digital delivery, running on Windows 10.  At that time there I wasn't sure that I would need Acrobat Pro DC, but as a precaution, I checked with Ivan Adobe sales on 13/05/16 what Acrobat Pro DC Upgrade (perpetual license) would be upgraded Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license).

In late August I bought Acrobat Pro DC Upgrade (perpetual license) as a package of DVD (part No. 65259139). Upon receipt of the package, I noticed the upgrade label, said that she would only install for users licensed of Acrobat Standard or Pro (version X.x or XI.x).  Before you open the package, 31/08/16 I still checked with Kelly (x 9036) and his supervisor in the field of after-sales service of Adobe products than the part above no. 65259139 will recognise and upgrade of Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) in Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license).

Today, I opened the package and tried to install the upgrade, without success.  The Installer opens in mode configuration DC (Classic) Adobe Acrobat - Acrobat Pro DC - not to mention and it only offers the following program Maintenance options: modify, repair, or remove.  Change the option runs but leaves the existing DC to Standard of Acrobat (perpetual license) unchanged.  The repair option requires the addition of the Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) Setup disk.  I have the 24-digit serial number but no disc, since Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) has been downloaded.  I have not tried the Remove option, because there is no indication that the program will then install Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license).

Please let me know the correct way, tested to install the upgrade in these circumstances.

This is discussed in detail over and fully answered in another thread: https://forums.adobe.com/message/9009206#9009206.

I came across the solution. In addition to download creative cloud, I needed to return to the site and download the trials for the programs I want to use - Photoshop and Lightroom. Once I did, I was in business. Save bad if this was done in light on the download site.

Whenever I try to install XP Pro on my new computer, sometimes almost at the point of installation, then BSOD. It gives some long error codes, suggests that I may have a virus (it isn't). I have a SATA drive, and I know that is the question.

Also, I have to admit I'm a little confused about why IE8 would cause problems during your installation of driver, you are sure that the driver is a 64-bit driver?  And, as much as having SP3, you said in your original post that you have SP2.  If you are running Windows XP Pro x 64 there is no SP3 and SP3 for x 86 systems can be applied to x 64, anyway (at least to my knowledge so far, I'm on Windows XP Pro x 64, which is almost based on the same core as Windows Server 2003 SP3 would not move on).  Once you get removed IE8, after back again if you have any other questions and I'll try to help you find a driver that works.  :-D
