Installation Guide complete installation Oracle RAC 11 g R2

Hello

Please suggest any docs oracle RAC Oracle 11g R2 to complete installation.

I'm in the process of installing Oracle 11g r2 RAC first time in my life this weekend.please help.

Hi Praveen,

Tim Hall has a perfect guide for Oracle RAC installation, you can view all items here:
http://www.Oracle-base.com/articles/11g/articles-11g.php#db11g_release_2_installations

Consider also familiarize themselves with Real Application Clusters, because the installation is only at the top of the solution and the knowledge of how it works is a must:

  • Change password for an Oracle RAC installation account

    All,

I'm not an Oracle DBA, but currently I am asked to fill in until a certified Oracle DBA lights.  I work with MS SQL Server and have servers managed for some time.

That being said, my question is probably a simple.  In the Oracle 11 g RAC 2 installation guide, it tells you * must * use an account that exists on both servers to install.  So far, so good, we have a domain dedicated to this purpose and no other account.  However, due to a recent change in policy, we must also change the password on this account on a regular basis (annual).  My question is, which, if it is, a will this affect on our Oracle RAC database facilities?

If we simply change the password at the domain level, rather than to check the "must change password at next login", is this cause problems with our data?

My inclination is no, we have no problems, because current services 'running' Oracle use the local NETWORK SERVICE account that will not be changed, but confirmation of this would be appreciated.

    Environment:

    Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP2

    Oracle: 11.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.4

    GRID: 11.2.0.2

    Thank you

    Jason has.

Change password of OS isn't a problem for Oracle DB.

  • Regarding the Hangcheck timer configuration in the installation of Oracle RAC 10 g r2

    Hello

Is it necessary to configure hangcheck timer in Oracle RAC 10g R2 installation.

Can someone guide when we should install the hangcheck timer in Linux, oracle 10g R2.

Yes, its recommended configuration hangcheck timer at RAC

    Configure the Hangcheck timer

The timer to check block is loaded into the Linux kernel and checks if the system crashes. It than the timer and check the timer after a certain period of time. There is a configurable threshold to hang - to ensure that, if exceeded will restart the machine. The hangcheck-timer module is not required for the operation of Oracle Clusterware (Cluster Manager), it is highly recommended by Oracle.

    cat /etc/rc.local
    modprobe hangcheck-timer hangcheck_tick = 1 hangcheck_margin = 10 hangcheck_reboot = 1

Using RAW could be the problem. I'm not sure someone who has used Virtual Box with raw disks for their RAC testbed. Most people use ASM. I've seen a few people use NFS as well. You'll also want to stay away raw because that which is frowned upon in 11.2. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e41962/whatsnew.htm#RILIN931

Under the Options deprecated for Oracle RAC 11 g Release 2:

"Installation of files on raw devices is no longer an option available during installation. You must use a shared file system, or using Oracle Automatic Storage Management. »

    Hello

You have not updated images in DB
    See this post
Re: Unable to upgrade the Apex 4.0

    and
    >
If you extract the files in the c:\temp folder, you have this file c:\temp\apex and bunch of subfolders.
Script to update images, give you the path to the folder where you extracted the installation of apex files.
In above case which is then c:\temp.

  • How to change NAME and intellectual property after installation of RAC.

    Hi friends,

I have here a challenge... If you'd be grateful if someone can help me...

I have to install Oracle RAC 10.2.0.3 on windows 2003 server 64-bit.

My problem now is the server names and ips are defined and I'll install the RAC.

But the need of the customer is that after a month, they need to change the names and the IP addresses of the servers (a time change).

Because according to their Server naming standards, the current production servers have the accepted names and ips.

Installation was on a BONE, 32 bits while they are facing errors of process memory. That's why they're going OS 64-bit on the new servers.

After that the new servers are ready, data will be migrated to the new server. After a month, they need to change the names of the new servers for the old servers (current production).

Could someone help me by giving me information on how to change the NAME and the IP after a RAC installation?

No matter what metalink note or orders because it is...

    Thank you
    Mahesh.

    Hello Manu,

In this case, you must reinstall the CRS again.

    Kind regards

  • Installation of RAC in a PC?

Is it possible to install/configure RAC in a PC to practical use.

You need these virtual machines to have several nodes in your cluster test CARS

(and it's easier to set the network parameters required for these new virtual machines instead of your laptop).

  • Installation Oracle Linux 6 - won't be after this screen

    1.jpg

When I install until this screen, it will not proceed... How to solve?

Hi GheeSeongand welcome to the VMware communities!

I guess that the scroll bar does not reveal any button 'Next' at the bottom of the screen...

You've hit a bug in Oracle Linux 6.2.  We have an article in the Knowledge Base describing the related issues during installation Oracle Linux 6.2 on vSphere and another related issue when you use virtual EFI firmware.  All these problems are caused by the same bug Oracle Linux (and they have released an update to fix it), but it seems that we have not yet a section in Knowledge Base describing the problem encountered on VMware Workstation, where the symptom is that the screen is cut off and there is no button 'Next' to visible.  (Interestingly, you can still use the keyboard to go through Setup... Press Alt + N)

To get the display work correctly, try this:

    • Shut down the virtual computer.
    • Go into the settings of the virtual machine and configure the virtual machine display to have a screen at 1024 x 768.  Save the settings.  (I have been informed that sometimes this setting doesn't "stick", then you will want to return to settings and check that it is correct before continuing.)
    • Turn on the virtual machine and enter the Setup program.  You should now have a button "next".
    • Install Oracle Linux 6.2.
    • Once the client is installed, follow the instructions in the Knowledge Base article to install the update within the guest to correct the cuase of the root of the problem.
    • When you have installed the update and turn off your virtual machine, you can remove the limitation of 1024 x 768 display that you added earlier.

Your Oracle Linux VM should then work correctly.

Please let us know if this solves the problem for you!

    Thank you

Check if service NFSLOCK works... and if not start it.

    # service nfslock status

    * Mounting for Oracle files options when used with NAS [359515.1 ID] devices *.
Mounting for Oracle data files options

    rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=32768, wsize=32768,tcp,actimeo=0, vers=3,timeo=600

For games of backups RMAN, copies images and Data Pump dump files, the "NOAC" mount option should not be specified - it's because RMAN and Data Pump do not check this option and specifying this can adversely affect performance.

The following NFS options must be specified for 11.2.0.2 disc RMAN backup directory:

    opts="-fstype=nfs,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,hard,actime=0,intr,nodev,nosuid"

    Hope this helps,

  • core for Oracle RAC and grid on Linux x 86-64 RHEL 5.5 Infrastructure

The manual "Oracle Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide 11 g Release 2 (11.2) for Linux.
Chapter 2.8.2 list software requirements for Linux x 86-64 platforms
Table 2-8, x 86-64 Linux operating system kernel requirements

    States, whether it is supported:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Update 2, kernel 2.6.18 or LATER version
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 update 5 with kernel unbreakable Enterprise for Linux, the kernel 2.6.32 or later version

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e17212/prelinux.htm#BABFDJJF

My doubts are (for linux x86_x64):
"Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux" is really mandatory for RHEL 5.5 and Oracle Grid Infrastructure or is it possible to use RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel.
Oracle RAC Database 11 g 2 is supported on RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel supported?

    Thank you

    Pavang is right.

I opened a SR and Oracle Support they confirmed she RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel is supported (minimal support). but Oracle is highly recommend to deploy the nucleus of the unbreakable Company Oracle.

    Some reasons for their recommendations:
    http://public-yum.Oracle.com/
The core Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise for Linux is the standard kernel used with Oracle products. The build
and QA Oracle database systems and other Oracle products use the core of Oracle Unbreakable company
for Linux exclusively. The core Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise for Linux is also the kernel used in Oracle
Exadata and Oracle Exalogic systems. Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux is used in all benchmarks
tests on Linux in which Oracle participates, as well as in the setup of valid Oracle for x 86-64.

    Thank you.

  • IOM on Oracle RAC

Because IOM installer does not support the Oracle RAC, Oracle asked that provide us with information for a single instance of DB of the CARS.

Must this DB be prepared for IOM install in the same way as a stand-alone instance - using prepare_xl_db.sh (on linux)? And satisfy the requirements such as query_rewrite activated, etc?

    Thank you.

IOM does not RAC support at installation time. After installation, you can reconfigure IOM to use RAC

Use the prepare_xl_db.sh against any node of your RAC instance to create the schema.

Installation provides one of the RAC instances as database.

Once the installation is complete, reconfigure the xlconfig.xml and data sources in your application server to use URLS to active RAC database.

    hope this helps
