Installation of old as accessory old computer hard drive - IDE cable doesn't fit!

I want to add my new hard drive from my old computer as an accessory.  I was able to get the old hard drive mounted in the cage in the new computer.  It was easy to connect the molex power.  But the parallel ATX of IDE cable from the old computer does not enter the unused on my new HP a6660t parallel IDE cable.  Cable parallel IDE of the ATX is too wide for the parallel IDE port on the HP motherboard.  Is there a cable or adapter I can find what works?

I thought than that - this isn't an unused IDE port, it is a spare for the power supply connector.  I need to get a SATA PATA adapter.

Try to format and do a clean install of Vitsa on an old my computer HARD drive at home to be placed in a new Tower. DVD starts up fine and then goes into an endless loop of the repair system that continues to check the c: / drive to find errors. Why is the installation does not start? I know that the folder c: / drive has Vista OS on it from my old compuetr. I want to wipe off immediately and start cleaning up.

original title: try to install clean vista

You must set your BIOS to start on the DVD from the beginning to the top.

You have a good DVD of Vista (OEM/upgrade or full version) and NOT only a recovery disk provided by the manufacturer of the PC (or you burn you).

For a DVD upgrade, follow the method here and make sure you format your HARD drive thanks to the tools of "advanced install" on the DVD.

If you have a full version of Vista rather than a version upgrade then just do the first part of the above procedure.

I am trying to up load my old laptop the laptop to my new computer hard drive so that I can access my old files, but it is endlessly with need to format the new device this will clear all data? It only allows me to open the old hard drive at all? Please help I really need to have access to my old hard drive through my new laptop I have no other way to get the information out.

    Hello

Yes if you format the drive it erases it's clean. Did you put the drive in the computer as the 2nd disc
If the computer still starts off the coast of its original disk? It's easier to do on a desktop.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or another USB
readers. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This can be done with the player in the)
original laptop. If the drive is viable (not totally dead).

The reader might have been damaged and may not be easily accessible. There are professional
companies that can recover data off a dead drive if it is a costly process.
Check with a real computer store (one that makes its own service in the House and no leeks)

    I hope this helps.

My E-mail address is tobytee88@yahoo .com

    Here are two possibilities.

The first is on their site at http://www.fixcleaner.com/support.php#faq_sales and has the following (note that it says to close the application and the service):

"Uninstall FixCleaner is easily.» The first thing you need to do is to close the program. If the application is open, click on the X in the upper right to close. Then you close the service. Check the tray at the bottom of the screen and find the icon FixCleaner. Right click, and you will see an option to close the application.

Once the application has been completely closed, Open the Add/Remove Programs dialog box in Control Panel. From there, you can simply opt to uninstall FixCleaner, a process that should take less than one minute. "

The second is to start in SafeMode as shown here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110110114204AAd1PsM

    Hi Defiant1950,

To add more hard disk space, the simplest method is to attach an external hard drive. If you add an external hard disk, it can't function as your primary hard disk where you install Windows, but you can use it as a secondary disk to store programs and files. Adding an external hard drive is a good way to create plenty of extra space to store the digital photos, videos, music and other files that require a large amount of disk space.

To install an external hard drive, all you have to do is plug it into your computer and connect the power supply cable. Most of these hard disks plug into a USB port, but some connect to a Firewire (also known as IEEE 1394) or external SATA (eSATA) port. For additional instructions, see the documentation that came with your external hard drive. You will also need to install a software that came with the hard drive.

  • My old flaky hard drive. How can I transfer my inbox on my new drive?

My old drive is flaky and I installed a new on my computer. How can I recover my old Inbox emails? I can set up the old drive with an adapter and connect to it.

The first answer above shows you how to move the entire name of original profile to a new profile name. This includes mail, settings, preferences etc.

However, it is also possible to simply move the emails.
If you have already created a new profile with the account mail etc and you want to import emails to the original on the old hard drive, you can try this addon tool:

    How to install the addon:

    • Download the file to your desktop as

    In Thunderbird

    • Tools > icon menu or Addons > Addons
    • Click the gear icon and select "install addon file".
    • Locate the downloaded file and click 'open '.
    • You may have to restart Thunderbird.

How to use the import tool:
Right-click on the folder you want to import, and then select "ImportExporttools".
There are a few options to import.

  • I want to know on my old iMac hard drives

I want to put another hard drive in my mid 2007 24 "imac since the former one quit a few months ago. I want to know what I can use. I was checking ebay and found a lot but I'm confused. There is caviar blue and black caviar. There are different brands and different model numbers then. Those that came out was a black WD3200AAJS caviar made in 2008. Can I use another brand? Can I go with another? How to cross reference? I'm thinking than those of roughly the same age of the imac because, after all, it is an old computer and I don't want to spend a lot of money. But I want to remedy for children to use to make videos and photography. It will not be a game machine because they use my other reason. Sorry for the flood of questions!

Any 3.5 "SATA HDD will work. Is the drive that you took a year newer than the iMac is obviously already been changed before. Black WD drives are good 7200 TPM, blue seem a bit slow, green disks are low consumption and Red are server or business applications.

  • How can I move all win xp pro 64-bit programs old internal hard drive to hard drive internal nine win 7 pro 64 bit

I want to install a new internal hard drive of my computer, my old internal drive is running Win XP Pro 64 bit OS, the new drive will be Win 7 Pro.

Is there a method much less time to transfer programs from the old drive to the new?

I have both drives in the same machine to do the transfer. If you have a set of instructions please post them to send me the instructions.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry, but you can't do that.  When you move from one computer to another, you must reinstall all the programs.  This is because the parts of the program go to different places, and there are updates the registry involved as well.  There are also some activation to worry.  The last time, you can copy programs from one computer to another in the BACK long days long ago.

    Good luck.

  • Can I use my old external hard drive after replacing SSDS?

I recently bought a replacement of SSD for my hard drive.  A friend suggested I have get a box for the old man and keep it in a backup or extra.  I was wondering how difficult that would be, and I would be able to run applications from her?

    -Matt H.

Yes, your friend is good, just buy a USB box for this and then you, it's like any other external hard drive. You can get these 10 pounds and more, but you get what you pay for.

Simply open the screw in the naked reader, plug, close the case and you are done. It's very simple to do.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Bravo, Bob

    You are welcome

If it makes a difference at one of my default computer will choose the original as boot drive drive, even if its been removed and a new drive installed, then the old disk installed next to the new drive. This is why you should check the settings of the BIOS as described in my previous post.
