  Regarding your checks of preinstallation of the original question, have look at GDR - health check / Validation Engine Guide (Doc ID 250262.1)

  There are sets of different rules for different OS that you can use to check if all the conditions are met before installing

  You can consult the mos note "R12.1.1: Installation of Oracle E-Business Suite and upgrade Lotus Notes version 12 (12.1.1) for Linux x 86 (Doc ID 761564.1)" and install the needed packages from your installation media (most of the packages are available on the installation media, oracle has provided a separate link for those not available)

  If yum does not properly check out this (you are on 32 I doubt there is one for 32-bit)

  I know this may sound quite childish, but still I want to know if we install EBS R12/11i by connecting the machine Linux through PuTTY, OR by logging in via the VNC server.
  
  If we connect via putty do we set the view in this case.
  
  Or if if we connect via VNC server do need us to set the Display variable.
  
  My query is what is the difference between the use of the VNC server and PuTTY in Installation of EBS 11i/r12.
  
  Today my boss noted that I should install vnc server on windows to install EBS rather than using PuTTY according to the setting of the Display variable.
  which I did not quite understand. Where the request!

  You cannot set DISPLAY when you use putty, so you need to use VNC.

  To run a quick installation, you need the correct DISPLAY see RapidWiz, and it would work with VNC (not with PuTTY). If you can set the DISPLAY is PuTTY (question xclock to check) then you can use (which I think is not possible).

• Lack of oraInst.Loc and oratab after the installation of R12.1.1

  I installed R12.1.1 on x86_64 OEL and it is successful.
  Its working fine, I am able to connect to applications and run all the utilities.
  
  Just out of curosity, I went in my "/ etc" and I have found no oraInst.Loc nor I have found no "oratab" in "/ etc".
  
  I used 'oracle' user to run the rapidwiz. R12.1.1 is installed as a single node installation. Hence the name of group 'dba' and the 'oracle' user name are the user name and the groupname. Linux root user is stil intact.
  
  As we used to run the script 'root.sh' after installing the database software, which allows to create the "oratab" in "/ etc", we do not run here.
  I think that there is no need to launch 'root.sh"after installation because it is built into the rapidwiz.
  I discovered oraInst.Loc in the oracle home database and that it points to the location of the inventory. I found the inventory in the location pointed to by the oraInst.Loc. But what about oratab?

  You need not run root.sh as part of RapidWiz.

  You must create an oraInst.loc according to the (Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 [798258.1 ID]).

  To/etc/oratab, you can also create it manually.

  I'm installing oracle apps R12 vmware (OS: redhat 4, R12.1.1) machine.
  
  Installation type: a single node
  DB user: oracle
  User applications: applmgr
  Note Metalink then: Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and upgrade 12 Release Notes (12.1.1) for Linux x 86 [761564.1 ID]
  
  -Database Installation was successful. I checked the log files. AutoConfig completed successfully.
  -It fails during the installation of application. In the end, she returns the error below.
  
  RW-50015: error:-HTTP listener does not. The service may not be started on the port again. Please check the service and use the button try again (same error help page, jsp also).
  
  Check the application log files. AutoConfig ended with error.

  I tried running autoconfig manually in the application layer, but it is suspended. I am not able to connect to the database as applmgr.
  tnsping also takes very long. If I restart the db listsner, then for a few miniutes tnsping is working fine.but then it takes time. Please help me solve this problem.

  It is obvious that sqlplus takes more time. Then autoconfig fails

  You have sufficient hardware resources. ??? How much is your RAM, Cpu Speed, enough disk space?

  Please make sure you have at least 4 GB of RAM.

  You need to install R12.0.4 and then patch up to R12.0.6 (6728000)

  The document should be sufficient. Just make sure that you have all the software of pre - req. and packages installed before you start the installation.

  I downloaded R12.2.0 for Linux (probably in January 2015!)

  Now for testing purposes I would install it & then upgrade to the latest version as well as on Virtualbox Linux.

  But during the construction of the stadium, I found that a part is missing: reference number: V29764-01 (Oracle Fusion Middleware Web Tier utility 11 g Patch Set 5)

  

  How to get this file missing? I tried to search on delivery & MOS.

  But a little later Oracle Fusion Middleware Web Tier utility 11g Patch Set 6 is available for download. Will it work? If I download this, then can I download other files also?

  OR, should I raise SR in order to order this part.

• Installation of R12.2.2

  Hello

  I made 12.2 installation successfully. its up and running.

  When I create the stage space, we have included 12.2.2 update pack as zip files. so we thought we are at 12.2.2. but when I check the version now, its saying we are on fnd_product_groups 12.2.0.

  Do I need to apply the patch to upgrade to 12.2.2?

  Any Suggestions?

  12.2.2 is as 12.1.3 which is NOT available as a new installation.

  For 12.1.x--> you install 12.1.1 and then (possibly) upgrade to 12.1.3 (which is recommended)

  For 12.2.x--> you will need to install 12.2.0 then (mandatory) upgrade to 12.2.2
