original title: installed Vista pack 1 as prompted.  Tour is continuing after 10 hours.  Monitor says no entries, and falls asleep.  What should I do?

My desktop computer has said that there was a problem with the window.  He said that Vista pack 1 expired July 12.  I installed it when prompted by August 6.  He began to run at 18:30 and HP Tower ran all night with a blue and orange light flashing.  The monitor was gone to sleep.  When I turned on the screen this morning, he said that he had no entry and time to sleep.  What should I do next?    I just got internet on 28 June, so don't know what that what is happening.  I get updates automatically.  Why it that not update.  I use another computer to communicate with you because I don't know what to do next.

Spent by the factory with the OS. After 18 + OVERLAYS on my XP Pro PC I've exchanged on this VISTA Premium 32 bit and after 15 + OVERLAYS on this one, IT WORKS finally.

This experience as Kosh Vorlon said above RESTORATION anyway possible and go directly to Microsoft for Service Pack so I found this to be the best source

It's the 32-bit version

http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=30

This is the 64-bit version

http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=21299

Now it's been GETTING all THE UPDATES... I found that the PC knows what to do with them, and without any help from us that it just boot process follow all prompts.

When it's done GET SERVICE PACK 2, SP2 from Microsoft

It's the 32-bit version

http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=17669

It is for the 64-bit version

http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=17669

and it goes the same for this time to GET all UPDATES.

And a my Service Packs note came in the updates of Windows. As well as all updates from the update updates. HP updates are usually for the hardware and drivers.

Good luck

  • My desktop Dell - Vista - computer does not, the monitor says no entry and have to wake up computer

I have a desktop Dell Vista computer.  A few days earlier, when I pressed the power button to turn it on, nothing happened.  When I turned on the monitor, he says that he came into power saving mode.  When I checked the monitor once again, he said that there is no entry for the computer and press any key of the keyboard or mouse to wake up.

The computer is plugged in and the green light in the back is on.  I don't remember putting the computer to sleep.  I thought I made a stop for a few days in advance.  Press and hold the power button on the computer does not start it or turn it off.  There is no sound (such as a fan).  I unplugged the computer briefly a few times, and then I finally unplugged overnight and is plugged in.  Light lights up in the back, but is not the "num lock" key on the keyboard and the light under the mouse does not light.

I checked a few suggestions on this site, but they all require that the computer be on and you enter in this form or the screen.  Is the computer dead?

Please see my profile and posts for info on how I managed to get into this mess. As the systems are stable at the time can someone think of something to prevent this or better idea, if ok will install, mse, av and spy, ad, malware progs 1 before so I can scan all files on the file transfer. At present I have swop systems via the bios hard drive boot priority and order, takes seconds.hope this sense

Image copy defective everything first as a precaution.  Use Windows Easy Transfer to capture your files and settings.  Den of the bad copy or reinstall Ultimate.  Transfer your files and settings back with WET.  You can scan the file .mig (the WET file) with the reinstalled the new copy of ultimate AV program before starting the transfer.

You cannot transfer your programs. They must be reinstalled. I don't see how using a second partition/installation ultimate solves anything. It would be a waste of disk space and a lot more work.

  • Satellite A100-237: unknown device after installing Vista

    Hi all

Just installed vista on my A100-237... After doing the upgrade of the BIOS and the installation of the "unknown device" Value Pack, with the location "on system compatible ACPI Microsoft" appeared in my device manager, any ideas on how to address this issue?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Could you please check if you can see the 'Batteries' entry under ' computer in Device Manager?
As far as I know that the entrance of batteries should have a "Microsoft SMART Battery" & "Microsoft SMART Battery subsystem.

If there is an unknown device, this might have something to do with Microsoft ACPI Compliant Embedded Controller.
In this case it seems that you need a driver for MS SMART SMART Battery & MS battery subsystem.

Perform a clean boot on the inorder of the computer to ensure that all third-party software services are temporarily stopped, that may conflict with the installation of Vista SP2
To perform a clean boot, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig then to open, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.

    You can try this:

If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

  • Re: Satellite U300: can I install Vista Ultimate?

    Hello.

A few days back, I bought Satellite U300 series but it came with VISTA Home Premium that I don't want.

Can I install WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE on my computer, if yes from where I can download the drivers.
Is there a specific order I have to follow to install the drivers after installing VISTA ULTIMATE.

    Seniors need help here, please...

    Thank you and best regards
    Khurram Shahzad

Of course, you can install Vista Ultimate on this laptop.
All Vista drivers can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.

Ask for the specific installation order?
Well, I'd start with the common drivers like Chip Set Utility, display driver, etc.
In addition, I would recommend checking the option details, because there you might find driver and software details.

By the way; the Intel Robson (SATA driver) package must be included in Vista because this driver is required for the recognition of the HARD drive.

  • Windows install Service Pack 3

A long time ago when I received the automatic update to Service Pack 3 and tried to install it, the update failed (Error 1706: file PRORET.) • Windows 7 on Vista Home premium! How to re install Vista on HP Pavilion

A technician (technician at the shop) during writing a test version of windows 7 on my genuine Vista Home premium that come with the laptop HP Pavilion Dv6000.

He did to recover my laptop a virus attached and there after I can't able to re instal Vista now on my laptop. What should do?

I tried several versions and spend hundreds of Dollars may with these technicians.

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact HP and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

You no longer have a Partiiton of recovery to reinstall Vista from which you installed Windows 7 above.

    Read this Information from HP:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=c00809678&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&product=18703

Solve a common problem of recovery.
If the original operating system is changed to a non - Vista OS, the Recovery Manager cannot be launched either office or by pressing f11 at startup. You can use the recovery disk to restore the computer to the original state of Vista. If you are using a non - Vista OS, you can use a third-party partition management program to recover hard disk space.

    See you soon.
  • I installed Vista in a Virtualbox VM and the product key does not work, how to fix this? I use the same product key supplied with the computer originally.

I bought a Dell Precision T3400 of Dell Financial Services and it came with Vista Business installed.  I installed a new hard drive and installed Vista in a Virtualbox VM by using the recovery disk that came with the computer, and the product key does not work for activation.  I get a message that says I need to activate Windows, but he says that the product key is not valid.  How can I fix it?

    Thank you

If you have reinstalled the OEM of Vista Business copy on the new hard drive, as Bill says you can't also use it in a virtual machine.

You can only reuse your OEM of Vista professional copy if it is no longer used on the computer. Do you have what operating system installed on the new hard drive? It was an upgrade copy or complete the license?

If you used a license to upgrade to another edition of Windows to replace your copy of company then Vista Business license is still in use (for upgrade) and you cannot reuse it in your virtual machine.

However if you replaced Vista business with a copy of the full license of another edition then you are able to use the OEM copy in a virtual machine, but only on the same computer. You must use the product key from COA to the label on the computer. The product key is put in the copy OEM cannot find the SLIC table on the host motherboard. You must use the phone activation from within the virtual machine. Click on start in Vista Business and typing "slui 4. Do not meet the audio guests until it asks you if you want to speak to an agent. Explain that you have completely replaced the OEM copy with a copy of the full license of the new windows and now want to use the OEM copy in a virtual machine on the same computer. Agent will then give you the activation string. Remember that the virtual machine is not transferable to any other computer.

    Hello

    1. how you try to install Vista? You install using Setup disc or try to re the image?

Please check the compatibility of your drive with Vista:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/search.aspx?type=hardware&s=Seagate%20barracuda%201.5%20TB

You can use third party software to do a low-level format of the disk, and then try to install Vista once more.

Important: Microsoft offers no assurance or warranty, implied or otherwise and is not responsible for the download you receive from the sites of third parties or support related to the download or the downloaded technology. If you need assistance dealing with third party technology, please contact directly the manufacturer.

If this does not work please get another Vista Installer DVD to install it.
