installing the hard drive internal

I am trying to install an internal hard drive WD (as a second drive) on my Dimension E310.  I connected the drive to port SATA2, but the drive does not appear on my computer.  WD service says I need to verify that the port is enabled.  How can I do this?

You say that you have started from the XP CD, but something is wrong with that
you do. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts for a
clean install. A new installation by formatting the
drive and does not care what version of Windows is installed (or
even if any version of Windows is installed.

I'm not sure at 100% but with other models of HP, I saw that they did not come with the extra cable or caddy.

  • How to replace the hard drive internal on Satellite 2450?

    Hello!
Last month, after a BSOD displayed (I don't have the code of error message, unfortunately) my laptop decided to not work again.
At the start, he reached the start menu and then displays a black screen... no message, no auto restart... nothing. Just a weird noise coming from the hard drive (like a scratched cd).

I tried to format the drive, but without success. After choosing the boot source, trying to read the cd and the black screen appears again, with no message. I checked if the Bay of cd is not working properly and it is. (I think)
So I replaced the HDD in my satellite 2450. A new toshiba ide 2.5 30 GB hard drive. But when I install a new one, the system does not recognize.

The control panel of the Bios says that "no hard disk" is available, and I can not change this option. (locked)
With the Windows Xp cd in the drive, the Setup program runs all properly until the 'select drive' format menu, witch says that no hard drive is recognized (with a new drive hard in).

I don't really know what to do!
Is something missing in this process?

    Thank you for the patience

    Hello

The laptop did not recognize a new HARD drive. Which is one reason why Win XP cannot follow the additional installation steps

I can't say exactly why the HARD drive is not recognized, but the 30 GB IDE should be ok.
I remember one of my friends had a similar problem with the new HARD drive.
Some hard drives have a jumper (3.5 HARD drive and 2.5 IDE HARD drive too)
Maybe you should check if a rider has been set to the right position (slave?).

Check it otherwise that I recommend to test with another new HARD drive

In the worst case the disc HARD controller might be faulty, but it would mean replacing a motherboard

    Helllo machadoas,

You want to disable the Intel boot agent.

You should be able to load in the BIOS at startup by pressing F10, go to boot order and move boot agent under the HARD drive.

Here is a link that talks a little more about the boot agent.

Thanks for the help, yesterday to my external hard drive problem.

can I ask you another tip?

Plug-in two years my PC and I'm very happy, the internal hard disk is set up initially in several parts: OS (C, recovery (D and data (E.))) The latter (E, takes half of the useful space of the hard drive, and does that save as plug-in files.) Often saturated, I delete manually from time to time its content. Is it really necessary? can I mill of space otherwise (reorganizing the partition of en?)

For two years, I use my PC and I am very happy, the internal hard disk is initially set up in several regions: OS (C: bravohelen:, recovery (D: bravohelen: and data (E: bravohelen:., (E: bravohelen: takes half of the floor of hard drive space and saves only the files that I use often saturated, I manually delete time in time its content is really necessary to him.? can I have this other space (by reorganizing the score?)))))

I assume you mean of personal data on the E partition files. You can delete files from time to time that you no longer need pay the speech of space either removing them or moving them to an external drive. This contributes to the performance of your system.
Don't play with the size of the partitions so d 'avoid d' problems.
Always make a backup of your data files from time to time if FT3 of your system.

I assume you are talking about data files personal on the E partition.  You can remove files at any time that you need more free space by deleting or moving them to an external drive.  It does not help with the performance of your system.
Do not play with the size of partitions in order to avoid potential problems.
Always make a backup of your data at any time files your system failure.

  • Connect the HARD drive internal USB Satellite

    Hi all

I try to reconnect to a computer laptop HDD in USB, but can not access.

    1. my old Satellite no longer lights up.
    2. I removed my HARD drive and connect it via an external USB box to my new Satellite.
    3. it is listed under disk drives Device Manager: "TOSHIBA MK2046GSX USB Device".
    4. I click on the button "complete" and can not get information except ability and no volume (disk is NTFS).
    5. in disk management, I get the error "data error (cyclic redundancy check)". the disc is "not initialized".

NOTE: I've already put a password on the drive via the BIOS, I have of course I still not know that and I hope that it is to note the source of the problem...

Thanks if you can help me with this question.

    Hello

First of all: the HARD drive is not a problem if you can't turn on the laptop.

If the HARD drive is faulty, you may not be able to boot the system, BUT you would be able to turn on the laptop.
A home screen Toshiba usually appears at the beginning of the boot order.
    Do you see this screen?

If not, then your RAM modules are defective or there is a severe motherboard issue.

  • slow startup of the host VMWare ESXi 5.5 when installed on the hard drive internal

We have some servers Dell R720 with 256G RAM and 2 6core Procs.  When I install ESXi client for internal hard drives (mirrored array) it takes literally more than 5 minutes to start.  I can watch the vmware boot process crawl slowly the progress bar on the screen in "recovery" mode before moving on to the substantive start-up procedure yellow.

Why is this slow process?  Why a hard drive inside is install using syslinux? (it's the first thing that shows on the display).  If I had to guess, I would say that the only facility to support runs of fat32 on a USB flash drive and the same hard drive installs use this same process to start.  Am I wrong?

I'm late to the party, but we have been affected by this issue. The solution is a updated internally perc firmware.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - replacing the HARD drive internal

I have a Satellite Pro P100 with a concert of 60 internal HDD and would like to replace this with a 250 or 320 GB drive.

Anyone can suggest a way to imagery of the current drive and copy this back to the new drive without having to re - install the operating system and other installed software?

I have a couple of USB 2.0 external drives with sufficient capacity.

    Hello

You first need to know if the more drive HARD 250 GB or 320 GB would be compatible and if the BIOS recognize this HARD drive without major worries!
The problem is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported by the BIOS.
Then all first check if the new HARD drive are supported!

You ask how to get all the files on the new disk? I recommend good reinstall the OS from the recovery CD. It would be to reinstall the OS, drivers, tools, utilities.
If you have other files such as mp3, etc it then backup to the external USB HDD.
Then you could connect this HARD drive to the laptop and could transfer it on the internal HARD disk.

  • upgrade the hard drive internal 1 TB SSHD to the Macbook pro (pro mid-2010)

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    RAM: 8 GB

I just bought this Seagate 1 TB SATA SSHD 54.

Is it possible that I can clone the old hard drive (250 MB) on this new disc hard safely?

A video supposed to be removing the old disk, replace it with the new hard drive, use a SATA adapter cable to connect the old drive to MBP.

After that, use 'Super Duper '...  https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=9KQG4yBRTGI

My question is, has anyone tried to do these updates?

All suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance. I bought a new battery, upgrade the RAM and now the SSHD (no SSD. ) Forward to the last step. I don't know if I'll really have a more rapid aging, but I am hopeful!

I got Seagate SSHDs in my Mbps, and will not otherwise by installing an OSX than any other type of HARD drive.

I suggest that you install it in a closed enclosure and connect to your MBP via USB.

Open disk utility > erase and format the SSHD for Mac OS extended (journaled) and a GUID partition.

Use a third party application like Carbon Copy Cloner (not free, but worth the price) to copy all data from the drive HARD internal as well as the recovery partition.

Start the MBP with the OPTION key and select the new SSHD.

If it starts the MBP, proceed to the physical exchange of hard disks.

    Ciao.

No, I don't think laptop IDE drives were made in sizes more than 500 GB. And the greatest, I see out there in any quantity is a 160 gig. This 320 gig was great, I could find on eBay right now:
