• Pilot network for M58 - 9960

  I created an XP image for a m58 disabling AHCI as suggested in other posts. I could get the image entirely created and download the correct drivers, but when I try to enable the AHCI, the drive is not detected. Windows XP screen starts flashing and then the computer restarts. I tried to download Intel Matrix Storage Manager but when I run the executable, it says that my system does not meet the minimum requirements. So I ran utility chipset Intel to detect mines and nothing can be detected. Any ideas? I don't want to not start over and wake.

  I thought about it. Download Intel Matrix Storage Manager here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70841. Run setup.exe from where ever he saved. Probably here: C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\RAU\a1rau07us17. It will give you a few songs and dances on your hardware not supported.

  Open a command prompt and navigate to this folder. (cd c:\swtools\drivers\rau\a1rau07us17...in in my case). In this folder, run this command: set - a PEI C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\RAU\a1rau07us17. Follow the prompts.

  It will extract the files to a different location. Probably here: C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\RAU\a1rau07us17\winall\Driver. Go to the Device Manager and select the SATA controller.

  -Driver update-> not at the moment (for windows update)->

  -Install from a specific location (Advanced)->

  -Do not search. I'll choose.--> Have disk

  -Look for the new folder we just created (C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\RAU\a1rau07us17\winall\Driver) probably there since we have the same computer.

  -Select the iastor.inf file, and click Open. Click ok.

  A list of AHCI controller will go up. Choose the right pair. Make sure that it matches the current SATA controller you have in Device Manager. Mine was something something ICH10. Press Next and you will get a warning. Click Yes. Click Finish. Click Yes to restart the computer.

  Go back into the BIOS and change SATA to AHCI settings. Do not forgot to save. He will enter in Windows and the "found something new material will go up." Let it do its thing and reboot when prompted.

  I have a client who needs to run 4 monitors on its new Lenovo M58.  I installed the card, tried everything I can think of to get the M58 to recognize, and when I go to install the ATI drivers for it tells me no ATI device.  I tried to adjust the video in the BIOS PCI, PCI-E, and automatic mode with the same result every time.  I know not all ATI cards and not all Lenovo play well together.  Where can I find out whether or not this combination will work together?
