Integration of OM for task inventory vCenter fails for a host

Hello.

I've updated my plugin for integration of OM to 1.7 2.0. I have three hosts 5.5 ESXi and vCenter 5.5 device.

The analysis of the inventory on one of these three hosts fails. I did the changes on the hosts and the inventory, used to work for guests when I used the plugin version 1.7. During testing of connection profile I get not all errors and information iDRAC identification and credentials to the host with green checkmarks on all hosts, including the one who gets the failure of the inventory scanning.

When you look at the newspapers I see a lot of security-messages and then "cannot get an IP iDRAC for host {0}" and "failure of the inventory for host 1 of 3".

Any suggestions?

Because we support 5.5 with 1.7 install it must have been new for the hosts and vCenter.    OMSA can sometimes get messed up during upgrades. Please verify that this host is consistent in the compliance Wizard in the full desktop client. In addition, you can verify that you are a build 61? If you are on build 59 try to switch to the current 2.0 version. Change the path of update to linux.dell.com/.../latest

  • Run the update
  • This update, you will have to build 2.0.0.1262
  • After the update, lack of movement to the original path to ensure you'll see future updates.

I added the SETUPEXEDIR = and SetupSource = command line options and the installer still changed their return. "So, I removed the v'" and put the directories all in escaped quotes. This solves the problem.

I still think that the installer must put the correct path on its own source dir facility. It should be smart enough for that!

Here's the line Arguments that worked:

  • Upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5 - problem with VClient and inventory VCenter

    Hi all

I just upgraded our VCenter of 5.1 to 5.5. All done successfully without warnings or errors. Verify that SSL certificates are still valid.

Has decided to upgrade the databases too.

    Here's the problem:

If I use the webclient service I have to use a user name in the format user@domain and then I connect successfully, but connected once the inventory is not empty, no host at all.

If I use the VClient, it simply doesn't: failed (unable to connect to the remote server (o) connection.

I tried to fix it by reinstalling the service inventory, but after that the error is the same.

We have seen, it is because less 5.5 AD inheritance behaves differently, because it does not inherit.

If you follow the steps on this link it should solve the problem for you.

  • vcenter feature will work properly if my virtual machine to vcenter fail?

    Hello

1 if my vcenter server machine was stopped or failed and in this time if my esxi host does not HA will or not?

2 - if a month my judgment of the vcenter server or not will work work vcenter features such as HA and drs and...?

    Best regards

Yes, if vCenter descends from VMware HA master node will take care to restart virtual machines from the host failed to other hosts that are running.

DRS will not work if the vCenter server is not available.

If you keep your vCenter down for a month, then that certainly creates questions about virtual infrastructure management.

See this URL for the list of features that works and that will not work if vCenter isn't available.

Apply OUI22 patch 5035661 on each iAS and RDBMS ORACLE_HOME cloning (on all nodes in source system). Do NOT patch to your RDBMS Oracle 10 g ORACLE_HOME or a more recent version. But given that you run "adcfgclone.pl" then I think that it will not help (unless apply you it on the source nodes and copy the files again).

  • How to remove a VM inventory in vcentre when the host is down

    Hi guys,.

We had a power outage today where one of our physical ESX host is dead (we have 2 VM cluster hosts).  HA/DRS unfortunately does not work as there are insufficient resources to automatically migrate the virtual machines on the host failed through to the host remaining (another separate question that I will not here address)

when the hsot went down, virtual machines have been left in the market, but were in a disconnected state (see table).  I read that you can reallocate virtual machines to another host by 'navigate to the data store and do a right-click on the vmx file and click Add to inventory and select the host. " (Ref: ) http://communities.VMware.com/thread/173314 )

However when I browse to the data store, the option 'Add to inventory' has also dimmed.  I suspect (Please confirm) that he wwas because the virtual machine in question was still at the "running" State  problematic, because that disconnected/running state, I could not close it out vcentre gui (or console, as host was dead)

can someone tell me how - if possible - can I migrate the virtual machine to another host, while in the situation described above?

If this is not possible for future situations where the host is lost, I would be better together virtual machine to stop? (this would allow me to reassign the vms can?)

    see you soon

The virtual machine will remain in the host inventory and disappear once you remove the host to vCenter inventory. What you then do - at least that's what I would probably - to be able again to power on virtual machines is to register the virtual machine to other hosts on the server vCenter Server (click right the VM .vmx file and choose 'Add to inventory')-after the correction of the host and before adding it again to vCenter Server - connect directly to this host and then delete the virtual machine already 'moved' from his inventory.

What you need to do after registration of VM for other hosts is to check the VM based backup applications (if used), because the virtual machine will receive new ID.

  • The number of heartbeat for the host data warehouses is 0, which is less than required: 2

    Hello

I have trouble creating my DRS cluster + storage of DRS, I have 3 hosts esxi 5.1 for the task

First, I created the cluster, no problem with that, so the DRS storage was created and now I can see in the Summary tab

"The number of heartbeat for the host data warehouses is 0, which is less than required: 2".

I search the Web and there are similar problems when people has only a single data store (the one that came with ESXi) and need to add another but in my case... vcenter detects any...

In the views of storage I see the store of data (VMFS) but for some strange reason the cluster not

In order to achieve data warehouses minimum (2) can I create an NFS and map it in THE 3 esxi hosts? Vcenter which consider a play config?

    Thank you

You probably only have local data warehouses, which are not that HA would require for this feature (pulsations datastore) to work properly.

You will need either 2 iSCSI, FC 2 or 2 NFS volumes... Or a combination of the any of them, for this feature to work. If you don't want to use this feature, you can also turn it off:

  • Update ESXi with VCenter VM on the host?

I am trying to upgrade my host ESXi 4.1 4.1 Update 1, but the VCenter VM lies on this matter.  I have to do to make sure that the DB VCenter is not corrupt, or can I just stop, put the host in maintenance mode and using esxupdate?

    With shared storage, you can:

    • Make sure that you have not activated the mode of locking for guests
    • Stop the vCenter Server VM
    • connection to the host on which it is running and remove it from the inventory
    • connect to the host of the second, browse the data store and add it to the inventory
    • vCenter Server on the second host market

Generally, you will use Update Manager (if you are using vCenter Server), but in cases where this is not possible, you can also use vihostupdate.

  • Virtualize vCenter and patching ESX hosts

I have a host two cluster HA with VSphere Essentials Plus, so no vMotion. (I know... good budget restrictions). It's a whole new infrastructure, so I only have a VM... my vCenter server running on host 1 (config) supported in a small size like mine environment

I use VUM patch my ESX host that requires that the guests of had no VM and be in maintenance mode.

The problem: How can I migrate my virtual vCenter server to my other host in order to set the host mode of maintenance and patch 1 (requires a vCenter runs).

My thought: two guests can see the LUNS for the vCenter server. I think I can go into host 1, power off the virtual machine and then remove from the inventory. Then, I'm going to host 2, browse the store of data LUN and ADD it to its inventory. Is this correct? If so, what file in the data store can I connect to the host (vmx, vmdk, etc.)

    Thank you.

Yes, it will work, but you will need to attach the base to a host at a time line.  You would add to inventory the .vmx

  • Long distance vMotion, vCenter on 6.0, hosts on 5.5

Has anyone tried this and is this still possible? We are in the middle of all our sites with a new architecture VMware 6.0 refreshing and a big reason is that we want to use vMotion long distance to migrate workloads as we slowly consolidate form 3 to 1 data centers. So far, we have deployed a device VCSA 6.0 and 2 MCS in 2 data centers. We have not yet upgraded 5.5 still hosts.

I'm not request anyone to test this in their environment or to do our work for us, since we are in the middle of the project and the work that I type, looking for feedback as I'm sure that someone else has tried this scenario in the wild before and well that my google-fu did not surface this answer again. I'm just curious to know if you need to upgrade your managed host of esxi 5.5 computers. 6.0 to perform the vMotion improved long-distance over WAN using link lniked mode OR if the vCenters being on 6.0, added in the same domain SSO and improved bound mode is enough. We would be able to ignore the upgrade about 25 guests because we have not deployed yet VUM so fingers crossed.

Thanks to anyone who can provide comment to my first question of communities.

You move between vCenter also? If so, the hosts of ESXi and vCenter must be at version 6.0. See the requirements on the cross vCenter vMotion: Cross vCenter Server VMware vSphere 6.0 vMotion requirements (2106952). VMware KB

To enable the migration through the server vCenter instances, your environment must meet these requirements:

    • The source and destination and ESXi hosts vCenter server instances must be running version 6.0 or later.

Anyway, you can upgrade one host in each vCenter and use this host to start the migration.

It's the only tns configuration file that is important for the problem at hand.  And we already knew what he said, since the output of your command of tnsping.

Please help me what I do in configuring the listener and tns.

Is "host1.exampl.com" the real hostname of your machine "host1"?  Or you made that blur in your ad - thing quite legitimate to do this for security reasons.

Whatever, this is not really a matter of tns, unless of course 'host1.example.com' is really what you put in the tnsnames file, but your server "host1" became really something else.

Assuming that 'host1.example.com' is the correct value, debugging starts with the following:

    [oracle@host2 admin] $ ping host1.example.com

    [oracle@host2 admin] $ tracerout host1.example.com

OK, so you have a software firewall (IPTables) running.  By default, it will not be configured to accept connections on port 1521.  You have two options...

    (1) disable the firewall completely.  Run these commands to do this...

    stop /etc/init.d/iptables

    chkconfig iptables off

The first command stops the service.  The second command prevents revived at every restart of the OS.

    (2) add an exception to the firewall for port 1521.  I'm not a Linux expert, but it should be something like this...

Change the configuration of IPTables with vi...

    VI/etc/sysconfig/iptables

Add a new rule as follows...

-A of ENTRY m state - state NEW-m tcp tcp - dport 1521-j ACCEPT Pei

Save and close, and then restart the IPTables service...

    /etc/init.d/iptables restart

NOTE: you must always change the name of this server to something other than "localhost".

  • License question - do need me a VSAN license for all hosts in a cluster?

I have a 6 host cluster exist using the VSphere Essentials Plus package with a single server VCenter. Can I buy x VSAN 3 licenses, for example to add the storage to the 3 hosts I have install the VSAN license on and access the VSAN of the 3 other hosts in the cluster data store? (Assuming only 1 CPU for each host.)

    Thank you!

    Hi Daniel,.

Since Virtual SAN is activated at the level of a cluster, all cluster hosts can consume storage since the virtual SAN data store regardless of how many guests contribute to storage. So to answer your question, you need all 6 hosts in your cluster license, even though only 3 of them contributed storage.

Also note that the licenses are per CPU so in your scenario if each host has 2 CPUs, you need a total of 12 CPU licenses. I hope this helps.

    Chris
