Interactive PDF files

Hi all

I have a new application of an existing customer. They would like to reduce the number of printed reports, we produce and move to an interactive PDF file. I had a good search on google and watched a videos view here, but I've not fallen on really great examples that show what is possible with interactive PDFs. Is it possible to integrate google usable cards in a pdf file? With interactive PDFs, the end user need to use acrobat reader or can the application of the standard pdf work with interactive elements (for example Preview on a mac)? Can someone point me in the direction of some really powerful interactive pdfs - examples of actual work? I would love to see how maps can work and how SVG animation can work.

Thanks for reading,

Kyle

This type of interactivity possible only in a PDF using the Flash file and the element "rich media" PDF, which is not taken in charge by third-party applications and will never work on iOS. There is no support in PDF/1.7 standard for things like the animated SVG files or embedded pieces of HTML5, it is possible only with SWF movies.

To say bluntly, rich media PDFs that depend on Flash Player is dead in the water, thanks to the growing number of people consuming files outside the scenario of Win/Mac desktop, that it has been designed. One day we could get replacement technology included in the standard PDF/2.x, but it'll be many years in the future.

If you want people to see something like a Google Map on any device widget, send them to a Web site.

  • Interactive PDF files do not open on some PCs, how to solve this?

    Hello

A big thank you to Steve Werner for answering my last question.

The new problem I have is that my client is unable to display the page turning from my interactive pdf file on his PC.

I am currently indd CS5 export a swf and then 'open file' Acrobat 9, by selecting the swf file.

I'm using Acrobat 9, is it possible that I can save a pdf interactive down to make it work on older versions of adobe?

Whatever it is, it must be able to work on PC as much as possible, if the problem lies in his version of Acrobat, or something else that I could miss?

It works on all PC, I tested in my office.

    Thank you very much!

    Sam

The effects of Flash can be viewed in Reader 9 or X, and Acrobat 9 X. Earlier versions of Acrobat or Reader will not help.

If you want to see the effects, then enter to get the latest version of the FREE Adobe Reader X.

  • ACrobat Pro DC fonts in interactive PDF files

I am a document in Indesign and export to PDF format.  Its an interactive and in indesign document I use Arial Black with something as a 14 point font for the person who uses the PDF file.  When I export the PDF file by default back to normal Arial with the truned leading to the default value.  Is there a way to incorporate the police of my choice to be the font that is used when you fill out the form?

In General, it is best to add fields in Acrobat in InDesign.

And you cannot set the leader for fields in a PDF document. It can only be done by the user manually, if you have enabled the option field rich text formatting.

  • Why my interactive pdf file shows the animation between pages only in full screen

Is it possible to display the animation between two (or more) pages in pdf format when you are not using full screen.

I made a file in indesign CC and exported (fade effect) interactive PDF form.

But the animation is shown in the view full screen, can I change this?

Hope to hear from you soon

    Jachim,

What you call animation between pages is called the Page Transitions in English. (Animation in the Animation Panel does not in PDF, of course.)

However, in the PDF files, it can only be displayed using the full screen. It's just the way it was designed. There is no way to change this, I'm afraid.

  • Two problems with MP3 files for interactive PDF files

    1. I put in two excerpts from interview to an interactive pdf. Last week when I tried to import the first MP3, I had him "cannot place this file. "Error message no filter for the requested operation." I don't know anything about audio files, so I tried just to MP3 on the App store, which has converted my MP3 file to another MP3 file, I guess. The new file has worked well.

I got the second file today and had the same problem. I sent the following URL (esign-cs5-which-was-edited-with-audacity-and-converted-with-switch, http://indesignsecrets.com/forum/general-indesign-topics/how-to-place-an-mp3-file-into-ind http://indesignsecrets.com/forum/general-indesign-topics/no-filter-found-for-requested-ope mp3-ration) I found which seem to describe problems similar to our sound guy at work. He tried to reduce the bitrate, but it won't do any good. So when I got home, I tried MP3 and it solved the problem again.

Anyone know why this is happening?

    2. once I got the first audio file in place, I wanted to replace the little gray box that Acrobat highlights. Bob Levine suggested

    http://InDesignSecrets.com/hiding-sound-files-in-an-interactive-PDF.php

that worked great, but I needed a way to control the sound. I tried a variant of Steven Werner suggestions in

    http://InDesignSecrets.com/hiding-sound-files-in-an-interactive-PDF.php

It was working fine, when I was just a play button / pause, but when I added a curriculum vitae, the play button just stopped working. I tried all kinds of variations, to get rid of stocks double in the buttons from the new files, new buttons, but the play button just didn't work. In my last essay, the play button worked, but only after I had press resume. So I'm completely puzzled.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you.

    I use InDesign Mac OS x 10.6.8 7.0.4

Not really sure on the second part, but I've seen the behaviour you describe with video files. I have just run through Adobe Media Encoder.

Which version of Acrobat you test in?

  • Interactive PDF files with iphone and ipad compatibility

I created an interactive pdf using page transitions IE. stores and the opening on an iphone or an ipad, the transition from blind page does not work is this normal?

  • How can I improve the quality of video playback in interactive PDF files?

I make a PDF from InDesign CC iInteractive with a few videos included. Everything works well except the videos shakes a little compared to play in quick time. The videos are in HD_H264.mp4 format. They are very large files, playing on a new Mac Book Pro with 8gig of Ram. I tried different things to improve reading, including setting up the PDF file to read in a floating window (which slightly improve things), but I prefer their largest.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

There's not much you can do. The Acrobat family is 32 bit and acceleration hardware 2D is no longer supported - HD video playback is a battle. With the help of a floating window, you can make sure the video is a true 1:1 scale, which helps as she stops to Flash Player having to re - sample, but that's all.

  • Interactive PDF file using InDesign CS5

I created an interactive portfolio in InDesign. In the InDesign layout I created a "Testimonial" button when the user clicks top reveals a letter of reference. (The reference letter is also a button.) The viewer must click on a 'Close' button on the reference letter to return to the view of the portfolio.

It is set up and when I have view it in InDesign using the preview area. This works.

When I export to interactive PDF format and view in Acrobat. The "Close" button is not there. Therefore, I am unable to return to the view of the portfolio.

    Any suggestions?

Create a new layer above the current stack. Move the close button for her.

  • When you create interactive PDF files in InDesign, buttons are down in the DC / Acrobat Reader

    Hello Acrobat Forum:

I create an interactive e-book PDF I get incompatible with questions. I spent a lot of time trying to solve it, and I still have to find a solution. I have some configuration of navigation on a master page that I need to change the page level. These buttons should have a reverse effect, so the bearings must exchange. Most of the time these works. It is the 25% of the time this is a problem. And when there is a problem, they are not displayed. The final PDF is created an InDesign book with 5-6 papers in it. It has 6 layers with the top layer of mostly unprintable.

    That's what I tried:

    • Made sure all the layers in the ID book are exactly the same.
    • Handset of all horizons for the navigation and buttons on the same layer.
    • Exported with only the layer of activated navigation. This fixed the problem with the navigation, but once all the other elements have been added the problem came back.
    • Changed order of the layers. Same result with the loss of elements.
    • Excerpt from the page with the fall as they appear and buttons. As soon as I replace the page with this page the complete document, they give up.

I use the latest version of InDesign (version 2015.4) and DC Acrobat (version 2015.017.20053).

I have many more of these books, it is imperative that I find a solution in the future.

    Thank you.

After much trial and error trying to figure this issue out, I came up with the solution that solved my problem. The issue has to do with the designation of the buttons. Most of the buttons were on master pages. But some pages have a different look on some pages. So I turn on the master page to the page level button. Once this happened, he changed the name of the button. Because I'm using the function "Export to the book in PDF format", where this has been done in other ID files in the book, there was conflict in the naming of the buttons. Once I renamed the buttons with a unique name, they came on the page.

  • In preview, can I listen to audio files in an interactive pdf?

We did a huge interactive pdf file in InDesign, with text and sound and video files. They read well both in Acrobat Reader on imac and a PC with Acrobat Pro. The file opens in the application overview on imac, but then the audio files and video files are not possible to open. Anyone know if there is a feature to listen to sound files in the application preview or Acrobat Reader is that so?

If your A / V files are not also playable in the preview, then there is no configuration preview that will change this fact, and the interactive visualization is Adobe Acrobat Reader on the Mac.

  • Why the .oam files do not work with interactive pdf?

I use InDesign CC 2015 11.0.1.105 to export the interactive pdf file and I use Edge Animate 6.0.0 to export the .oam file.

I import the oam in InDesign and position the overlay to AutoPlay with a slight delay. The window preview shows the animation work, but when you export as a interactive just the image of the poster is displayed. That I'm viewing the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Am I missing something or is the latest version of InDesign does support this feature more?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Thanks Bob.

At least I can make it work now.

  • Interactive PDF - layout

    Hi community

    I have a strange problem.

When I export my interactive PDF file available that I designed is not show.

Instead of green clear beeing my forms are blue with a red boarder.

    What I am doing wrong?

When I click on the formfields, they become green, as they are supposed to look like.

    What Miss me?

You did not post a screenshot. It looks like this?

On a Mac in Acrobat DC, go to Preferences > forms and uncheck display stationary border. Or change the colors. The red border indicates a mandatory field. In older versions, there was a bar in the upper part.

It will now look like this:

Second choice: leave him alone. The indicators serve a purpose.

  • Interactive PDF Web sound-problems buttons will not play on the other, and ugly gray boxes are visible

When I export my interactive pdf file and open the html or swf file, it works exactly as I want it, but it works on my computer because I have all the links and resources on my computer included in a zip file. The only way I can get others to see it seems to be downloading the zip on dropbox and others who download and then extract files, which is not practical. I would like to integrate the interactive pdf on a Web site or a blog, so it does not directly on the page without having to download all the recources publishes the new web feature seems it might be a good solution, but when I try to publish, it is not working properly users.

    Screenshot (148).png

My project is to play several audio files on the other, so if a user clicks a button sound is read, and if you click on another button, the first sound will not stop, they will play together. So, for example, if you click on the top button, a beat will play, and if you click on the guitar slot, a guitar sound will play on the beat. It works fine on my computer in the swf or html file, but for some reason any when I publish it to the web, it will only play a sound at the same time. The pace will just stop playing if you click on one of the instruments, which makes the entire project useless. Another problem is that I can't seem to remove the gray boxes without taking away his ability to make it sound. The first photo is that it is supposed to look like, and here's what it looks like when I publish it to the web:

    Screenshot (147).png

In addition, as you can see, it does not export as interactive PDF, it exports an indd file. It's clickable and interactive however, just with a few bugs.

Can someone either help me to correct the parameters in the function of online publication, or to teach me another way to incorporate the project on a blog or a website?

    Thanks in advance.

Interactive PDF is a roll of the dice in a browser and using SWF out from. He died a technology as it is and will work on any mobile system, or on a desktop computer that does not have flash player installed.

Without knowing what you were doing, it is impossible to tell you why post them online does not work for you but you should really take the time to know what interactive feature are and are not supported with each format.

  • Interactive PDF

I have an interactive pdf file which has a few embedded bookmarks and internal links. All this work well in iOS, but they do not work on PC. The two platform uses the same version of Adobe Acrobat. No idea why?

I confirmed that the client (@ew) is facing a real bug in which a PDF file (with the widget with GoTo annotation targets to various pages) who has worked on Player 10.0.0 is no longer works in recent versions of MS Reader (or 11.0.0). So, there was a break somewhere along the way.

In order to follow this issue and get it resolved, I've created a bug (#4075273) in our bug tracking database.

Some clarification: the problem seems so the PDF has several Widget Annots all have the same field/t (name), and that seems to be confusing Reader.
