Intercept Windows event messages

Is there an easy way of Windows event messages stop without having to write a dll to do?

The command that I am looking for:

WM_SYSCOMMAND

I have a touch screen application and I am tring to prevent treatment of the events when he recovers from fashion 'sleep '. I need to be on the screen and no screen saver.

As I upgraded v38, I can receive and delete mail, read mail after right click on the name of box mailboxes to open in a new window (used for the mailbox just left click), but not compose a message, reply or forward. No error messages, but nothing happens when I click on write, answer or next button. I'm on Win7HomePro. That is what it is? Thank you!

I finally understand how to remove this 'Upgrade to Windows 10' message that keeps popping up in my taskbar, but now, he's back!  I went back in my Add/Remove programs to see if I have, in fact, re-downloaded somehow (Microsoft Windows KB3035583).  He isn't here.  I think this might be an update from HP (I received a message once say that Microsoft was no longer supported Windows 8.1 and HP would take over the issues, etc.).  I think that this 'Upgrade to Windows 10' message may have been included in a HP update.  Can someone help me get rid of this annoying pop up in my taskbar?  I'm not interested in Windows 10.  I downloaded and tried and I hated it, so I went back to Windows 8.

  • Place to query windows event log?

    Hello:

Is it possible to query the CVI windows event log?

I don't see all the Windows event recorder functions available in the windows SDK provided with CVI 8.

What are the functions of windows recorder that I refer:

    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa385784 (vs.85) .aspx

I am interested in the capture of application errors from the event logs on the stations running Teststand and CVI.

    Thank you
    Dave

You can use the ReadEventLog function.  It is documented in the Windows 2000 RC2 SDK distributed with CVI FDS 8.5.1.  Do not know if it is documented in the SDK software distributed with CVI 9.x

    ReadEventLog

    ReadEventLog

The ReadEventLog function reads a large number of entries in the specified event log. The function can be used to read the journal entries in chronological order or reverse chronological.

    BOOL ReadEventLog(
HANDLE hEventLog, // handle to event log
DWORD dwReadFlags, // how to read log
DWORD dwRecordOffset, // offset of first record
LPVOID lpBuffer, // buffer for read data
DWORD nNumberOfBytesToRead, // bytes to read
DWORD *pnBytesRead, // number of bytes read
      DWORD *pnMinNumberOfBytesNeeded // bytes required
    );

    Parameters

    hEventLog
[in] Handle to read the event log. This handle is returned by the OpenEventLog function.
    dwReadFlags
[in] Specifies how the read operation is to move forward. This parameter must include one of the following values.

    Value Meaning
EVENTLOG_SEEK_READ The read operation derives from the record specified by the dwRecordOffset parameter.

This flag cannot be used with EVENTLOG_SEQUENTIAL_READ.

EVENTLOG_SEQUENTIAL_READ The read operation is in order since the last call to the function ReadEventLog using this handle.

This flag cannot be used with the EVENTLOG_SEEK_READ.

If the buffer is large enough, more than one record can be read at the specified seek position. You must specify one of the following flags to indicate the direction for successive read operations.

    Value Meaning
EVENTLOG_FORWARDS_READ The journal is read in chronological order.

This flag cannot be used with EVENTLOG_BACKWARDS_READ.

EVENTLOG_BACKWARDS_READ The journal is read in reverse chronological order.

This flag cannot be used with EVENTLOG_FORWARDS_READ.

    dwRecordOffset
[in] Specifies the registration number - the journal entry in which to begin the read operation. This parameter is ignored unless dwReadFlags includes the EVENTLOG_SEEK_READ flag.
    lpBuffer
[out] Pointer to a buffer for the reading of the event log data. This parameter cannot be NULL, even if the nNumberOfBytesToRead parameter is null.

The buffer will be filled with an EVENTLOGRECORD structure.

    nNumberOfBytesToRead
[in] Specifies the size, in bytes, of the buffer. This function will read as whole submissions contained in the buffer. the function does not return the partial entries, even if there is room in the buffer.
    pnBytesRead
[out] Pointer to a variable that receives the number of bytes read by the function.
    pnMinNumberOfBytesNeeded
[out] Pointer to a variable that receives the number of bytes required for the following journal entry. This count is not valid unless ReadEventLog returns zero, and GetLastError returns ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER.

    Return values

If the function succeeds, the return value is nonzero.

If the function fails, the return value is zero. To get extended error information, call GetLastError.

    Remarks

When this function returns successfully, the playback in the error log position is adjusted by the number of records to read. Only a number of set of event log records will return.

Note  Configured for this source file name can also be the file name configured for other sources (several sources may exist under subkeys under one log file). Therefore, this function can return events that have been recorded by several sources.

    Requirements

Windows NT/2000: Requires Windows NT 3.1 or later version.
    Windows 95/98: Not supported.
    Windows CE: Not supported.
Header: Declared in winbase.h; include windows.h.
    Library: Use advapi32.lib.
Unicode: Implementation of both Unicode and ANSI under Windows NT/2000.

  • T410 2516CTO random freezes without anything in the Windows Event Viewer. :(

I used Update Retriever + slim Installer (practically system update 4.0 but a client version + server) to download the drivers and install Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 with SP1 on this machine. It takes a hard power off by pressing the button for 5 seconds

    8 GB RAM

    320GB 7.2 k RPM HARD drive

    Optimus graphics

    Gobi2000 WWAN

    uPek Fingerprint reader

The machine crashes without warning and did with the two installation (more common) factory and with the deleted HARD disk and using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 from Microsoft x 64 slipstreamed (freezes much less often). Are there tools that I can use to help diagnose this problem?

I also used an adapter 90W AC and 65W adapter on this machine. The random freezes occur on each adapter as well.

I read other people who have the same frustrations on to freeze, but no other situation is exactly the same as mine unfortunately - most other occasions you can find something in the Windows Event Viewer!

  • Received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft - error in MS Windows event viewer and warnings

I just got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft.  He directed me to go to MS Windows event viewer and County errors and warnings in the Applications and the system section.  Then he asked me to let them access my computer and fix any problems that would be 'crash' of my computer.  When I refused him access said he couldn't help me and hung up.  I do not think that it was Microsoft but are ratings warning and error a problem?  I use Windows XP.

Kudos to you 1Grizzly, you have made the right choice. Microsoft does not make unsolicited support calls or send emails to customers, offering support.

  • Windows error message "cannot find the file K:\$MFT or K:\System Volume Information.

Original title: Windows Error Message.  Cannot locate the file K:\$MFT

Periodically, I get an error message stating that Windows cannot locate the file K:\$MFT or K:\System Volume Information.   In this case my computer loses contact with K (my backup drive).  The only way I can get the command back up and running is to shut it down, restart windows and then reconnect the drive.  I have absolutely no idea where, why, or what this message is not irritating and a nuisance.  How can I stop this?

My problem is back and I guess that I does not after all.  It was suggested that more info on my system could help find answers.  I am running Windows XP. SP3.  My HD is 500 GB.  Intel Core 2 CPU.  6600 GHZ, 3 GB of Ram.

In addition the cannot locate the message file, it sometimes indicates that a "delayed write failed" and I should save the K:\$MFT file also.

As far as I can tell, I have solved my problem.  Windows 'Restore' was trying to save my disk backup for future use, and I think it's whence came the message.  I changed the settings to restore now ignores my backup disk and the problem has not happened since.  I hope it's the end of it.
